Fishing Below Historic Gristmill and Ocoee Dam

Ойын-сауық

This was a mashup of a couple different days of fishing. The first part is from the Ocoee dam #1 in Polk county, Tn. The fising ca be up and down there and the water level is always changing. The second part is from the Sgt Alvin C York State Park in Pall Mall, TN. The mill was purchased by York after he returned from WW2.

Just going back over some of your videos to see if I missed any and stopped to watch this one again. You are so blessed to live where the fishing is great and the places you can go are so pretty. That mill is such an awesome place to be. I'm glad for you that you can do something you love so much in such a beautiful place and be able to make a living doing it. God bless you and keep you in His awesome care always and in all ways. Happy fishing.

I would have liked to put a crawfish trap in there and catch me some of them they're really good eats. I used to catch crawfish out of the Salinas River in California I would set my trap in the water and while I was waiting I would just do some fishing.🎣🦞

Where I live there is a dam called the Stevenson dam in CT on the Housatonic river. One time a guy was fly fishing below the dam with waders on and they didn't sound the klaxon horn when they started to generate power. The guy was washed away and they found him a week later several miles downstream. Sad story.

This would have been a good video to discuss tailwater fishing safety, Whenever I go rockhopping near where I live, I always check the generation schedule for the dam upstream since I can't hear any warning sirens several miles downstream from the dam. I also check the USGS waterdata app to see what the reading is just downstream from where I like to fish. I have learned that there can be fluctuation even when one turbine is running, so picking landmarks to watch while fishing below a dam is a good idea.
