Yeah a he’s using a Palomar on what looks to be a floro leader which a palomar actually digs into itself and will cut its self on floro I only use it on braid. But I don’t guess that matters a leader line on a bait caster is really sketchy. Some people has ways that work for them so if it works for you stick with it

Leaders are pointless and maybe he needs to stop yanking so hard like he's pulling a barge out of the water? And maybe set the drag a tad looser so it actually works.

For hard hooksets and especially short distance fishing with Braid to leader use an improved Alberto...fluoro to the jig, learn to tie a double San Diego jam or double Pitzen knot.

Get out there a month earlier next time they won’t be on beds. Go on the first warm stretch of weather in January February or March whenever it happens for you. In Texas usually January or February has a nice 2 week stretch of warm weather we call false spring because usually it gets cold again after that but it gets the bass feeding like crazy

I’m new love the vids. I use braid to a leader too and because of Seth Feiders concept behind it. I highly suggested using an fg know and use 20lb fluoro. You’ll cut your hands a whole lot tying an fg knot but it’s worth it and I can now tie it in under a minute

This was a mess lol. How were you planning on setting the hook when you casted in the 5, or that’s a 6, no that’s a 20 or whatever it was, when you had your rod in the middle of a bunch of branches and flipping in front of it? Maybe that’s how you got your other rod broke by doing that stuff?

Man man man. Deja vu breaking fish off on the hookset like that. I used to do the exact same thing almost everytime I would run a leader braid to mono. I tried braid to copoly, braid to cheaper flouro etc. the only solution I found was switching to the FG knot and running FC Sniper as my leader. I also switched from the palomar to the San Diego Jam when using a flouro leader. I still use palomar with straight braid. Sick vid. Just thought I’d leave my input on that bc I literally used to break off on the hookset so much. Lost some big swimbaits doing it too which was tragic.

Spot on! The FG is the best braid to fluoro knot but the Alberto knot is a close 2nd and a lot easier and quicker to tie. It goes through the guides fine unless using really heavy line. Any double pass thru knot is stronger, prefer the double san diego jam over the regular San Diego jam. Definately a Palomar for straight braid

If you don’t lubricate the knot before tightening with spit or water or something the line can cut into itself when it tightens. As long as you do that it’s the strongest knot you can tie
