Tbh apparently no one been here for years! Many years! And it was such a shock to see the boy and his father way out there! Huge props to the dad for taking his son on such a crazy hike! @@CavyFishing So Cavy, what possessed you, a son of Australia, to avoid the "Down Under Fumble Round", (the ol' switcharoo), when casting spinning outfits? (Good on ya, whatever it was!) But, hey, at least they didn't pass a law against you for doing it right, in Australia... whereas, I could swear they passed a new law against you, for doin' something else right, in Indo. Ah, well. Oh, and, unrelatedly, if you ever have anyone with a SINGLE hook (hint, hint) buried so deep in their foot that the point AND bend have disappeared (happened to my 85 year old dad recently, with a live barracuda attached to the other hook of a small plug... and no shoe on... after the cuda fell off the gaff)... since we couldn't get to the bend to do the loop trick... the thing to do (unlike what I did, which is just take the split ring off, to get his foot away from the cuda, then took him to the hospital)... is do what the second doctor to look at him did... which is keep rotating the hook IN (which one couldn't do with a treble) until the point, and then barb, pop out, through the skin... crush the barb like you did... then rotate it back out through the two holes... for what that's worth....

The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzread.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

Nice and challenging spot to try to bring him up through all those bommies/side ledges. What happened to that rod? defect or just a combination of high sticking a too heavy fish? Sometimes you pull a large fish up and he decides to run deep at the same time

I didn’t actually end up casting the popper, because realized the waves were to choppy for the popper, so switch to the stick bait and then also moved rock 🪨

Then they got donated to local families..I personally Never ate one over 10 lbs as I didn't want the chance of ciguatera poisoning.. Keep up the Great Vids.. Most brand perform pretty well within their given price ranges. I.e a $1000 shimano, daiwa, Penn or even okuma etc will all be fairly evenly matched at a given price point. I think components and where it is made is more important, if it's made of quality materials and put together somewhere like Japan your going to enjoy using it

@@TryABaconSlice Personal experience in my situation which is sea kayak fishing penn have outlasted any other make ten fold, also surfcasting late nights with water, rain and sand... just curious ;) as he goes in the water a lot and is in pretty tough situations that would in any normal situation be catastrophic to most equipment these days.
