The California Aqueduct starts just north of Tracy and ends near Los Angeles. It runs almost parallel to I-5 throughout California. Fish any where along the Aqueduct and you'll be fine. But keep in mind the fish are always on the move and so should you. Join us on Facebook for more tips and tricks. => facebook.com/groups/TheFishAholics/

You can go as far south as you want. The best spots are actually up your alley. Right now the waters up north are a lot clearer which means better fishing for striped bass. You can start with the pumps and bridges first. If the fish aren't biting travel along the aqueduct until you find a school. That's what I did in this video. Hope this helps.

stryfe2009 This area is north of Los Banos. The AV ducts are pretty tough right now so you might even have to drive to the Bakersfield area and give it a try. I'm using braided line.

Even better when you have family nearby. 65lb braided works for me but you can get more line in your spool on 30lb

I went to the aqueducts yesterday and only landed 2 15" stripers in the morning and after that it was dead every aqueduct location I went to. Any tips? You have any idea where all the pump locations are in Tracy or Patterson? I've only found two.

I dont' fish that area much but I know a few guys who do and they've been landing some good sized fish. I try not to stay in one area too long. Best tip is to keep moving down the Aqueduct. I like to use a Duo Realis 120 jerkbait. It's a good search bait for stripers in the mid to upper water columns.

SytfuIS Sweet!!! I'm no promoter for Duo Realis but these lures have been my go to lure all year. Like I said before, just keep moving if they don't bite. You should post up some pics in our Facebook group. Got alot of guys fishing the ducts and they're willing to help anyone who asks for advice. Check us out: facebook.com/groups/TheFishAholics/

Yeah I was moving a lot that day, I went to like 8 different locations and walked 1-2miles in each spot. Maybe it was just a bad day. I'll check the group out.

Sick video! Keep it coming bro! Are you using straight braid to the jerkbait or a leader ? And what lb braid are you using?

  • @MengXyong

Thanks for sharing the video. I'm always using braided straight through to the lure. I don't like the stretch I get from mono. Fluorocarbon deteriorates too quickly when it rubs against the concrete wall. I've lost a lot of fish that way. So now I stick to 65lbs braided.

Thanks for all the tips! Does it matter if the pumps are on? Or when the waters dead still

If you're fishing the pumps, I usually have better results when the water is running. Everywhere else on the ducts, you want to find clearer water. My best days are when I've found clear water regardless of current. If you're not in our Facebook group yet check us out. We got some guys catching monster sized stripers right now. Some of these guys pretty much live on the ducts. facebook.com/groups/TheFishAholics/

Do you think 50lb power pro is good? And what about the action doesn't flourocarbon get the best depth on jerkbaits I'm using Lucky craft 100

  • @MengXyong

Hey Jay Doll, If you already have 50lb braided on your reel then that should work just as well. For jerkbaits, depth isn't an issue with line type. It will dive to approximately the same depth regardless of floro or braided. I like to have instant hook up, no stretch in my line, when I set the hook that's why I stick to braided. Everyone has their preference. I know guys that only use floro or mono and guys like me who use only braided. Best way is to find what works best for you. But from my personal experience floro line doesn't withstand the Aqueduct as well as braided so you will have to retie often to avoid losing that fish of a lifetime. Hope this helps.

I been getting skunked the past 2/3 weeks! Lol have you been fishing the aquaducts still? Do you know if once it gets too cold do the stripers leave the aquaducts?

Not lately but alot of the guys on the Facebook group have and they've been killing it. They're always posting up their catches too. Most of the stripers that are in the Aqueducts are pretty much stuck there. They are there year round and you can definitely catch them during the winter months too.

You can fish from Mt. House Road where it meets the Aqueduct. Look for it on Google Maps. Can't miss it.
