Witnessed this in real life once. was much more epic. Its somewhere in the Maldives.

That one shot at 1:58 of the single feathers floating in the infinite, deep blue, made me gasp. Tells stories about the horrors underneath the surface. Outstanding cinematography

The world of wildlife documentaries will not be the same without him

This was just exceptional footage. The crazy teenager, the helicopter parent, and the predator. The drama, the suspense, the close call and the happy ending. It was better than any script. But I liked the scientific angle, and the prey-predator evolutionary pressure on the fish to take to the air.

It IS a script. The bird in the water, the bird struggling to fly from the water, and the bird just missed by the fish are all different birds; check the white spots on each. They're lying to you.

Man, the drama at the end was sooo Cooool...! Mama bird trying to warn the child, the child tries to fly off away from the water...the "villain" Fish closes in...is it gonna get the young bird...? is it...?! Booom! it's a miss...! That's one lucky son of a bird! :-P

That's cute. Here in Australia we have a fish called Murray Cod. They eat baby emus, kangaroos, possums & cormorants.

Blue planet and planet earth r the best nature documentaries.

This was wonderful to watch on so many levels! Top tier: editing, music scoring, cinematography, storytelling, sound designing -- just perfect on so many levels.

Last scene was Breathtaking.

That hit at 3:24 is just epic! This fish has been on my bucket list of fish to catch (and release) for years, and before I die I will have chucked big tuna poppers at them off of the coast of Madagascar! Great cinematography from this series as usual, and David Attenborough's narration is flawless.

Man the music and cinematography were so fantastic. The music sounded straight out of some super hero action scene. I got ZSJL vibes lol

Wow! Incredible photography. That last shot, what a marvel of nature! Imagine a fish so heavy lifting clear out of the water to catch a bird in the air. Makes humans look so weak!

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the introduction... that must be a really big bird!!! Maybe an albatross.

Weeks of hard work and the result is a six-minute breathtaking, thrilling short documentary.. KUDOS!

I don’t know who this guys voice belongs to, but is soo relaxing and makes you picture it as if you were there. His voice for this channel is FANTASTIC

Absolutely incredible and fantastic and fabulous!!! With such beautiful photography and the narration is absolutely superb by David Attenborough! I didn’t know this at all about the turns! I have admired turns in the past down in Florida on the coast and didn’t know this at all! I had never heard of this fish either or seen it! Thank you very, very much!

That fish chasing that bird @2:40 before the bird has even landed is crazy. Them trevally are vicious. Ready to fish for one now... Ok now that I've watched further, they are jumping out of the water to catch them mid flight. Insane!!!

So good and perfectly edited, it feels unreal sometimes...

I was watching this with pure and absolute utter enlightened shock! Awesome job!

Jesus! Evolution is absolutely amazing!! Fish that developed the abilities to see and track a flying animal. Totally NOT within its "normal parameters" of hunting. Just amazing.

The shots with the feathers drifting in the water - beautiful. Very good cinematography in general

BBC rules documentaries in all their forms. And I think I soilt myself at 1:30 when that birdie got grabbed. And 4:59, sheesh how many hints do you need, "Get outa da water"!

the irony: the birds eat the fish, but bigger fish eat the birds.

Fun fact: The fletchings can float in the water, but once a fish takes them underwater, they’ll drown.
