Although thankfully for Squidward it seems he can learn from this lesson as he does have some redeeming qualities. SB despite of his optimism and making the delivery is left scolded/broken from a --Karen-- Kevin just because he never mentioned the Diet Dr. Kelp on the list, to which Squidward does stand up for him for all the hell they both went through.

Well in squidwards defense, If I had to spend my every waking second next to SpongeBob and Patrick who would be to loud for relaxation on my off work days or even pull me into shit I don't even want to do and have no choice too. Not to mention having SpongeBob at work all day and never getting a balance life of relaxation and entertainment then I probably be a little shitty to people too. ALSO the guy forgets to mention how even though SpongeBob is nice and all, He is kinda annoying at times and a hazard, Bro destroyed the town over a butterfly and his laugh man. If I had to hear that everyday like god man, SpongeBob is a good guy but I have limits man, Bro was also tortured while in a body cast too by them so yeah. I don't think his always mean, I just think he's kinda done with everything and is just neutral with everyone except at work with a little sass and sarcasm.

I like how this isn't even an excessive amount of rage. Like there's so many parodies where the joke is just...excessive anger, but the fish here is really just trying to level with Squidward.

Even if he's trying to level with him, his claims about Squidward were still mostly wrong and the fish still made the same fundamental mistake that everyone in Bikini Bottom makes: They don't try and understand Squidward. The fish says that's not the reason but he's wrong, straight up wrong. That IS the reason why. No one in BB tries to empathize with Squidward. He NEEDS that.

Squidward's been sarcastic and rude since the very first episode, that's why people don't try and understand him. To them, he's not worth the effort of understanding, because understanding him won't justify how he acts towards others. Remember the "prank" he pulled on Spongebob? No amount of artistic failure or disappointment with his dead-end job can make that okay.

Life works in three phases. Phase 1, you're SpongeBob. Phase 2, you're Squidward. Phase 3, you're this fish.

I love the personality you chose for the fish. He isn't shouting or cussing out Squidward every 2 seconds. He's just gently scolding him like a friend that has gotten tired of his constant passive aggression. That kinda makes this hit harder.

Deep down, we all want to say this to that one friend who acts like an ass or are toxic but always blame their "life problems"

This sounds like something I would imagining myself saying to someone in a cartoon. It felt weirdly cathardic to see it in animated form, thank you.

Squidward doesn't look angry or sad as the fish says this, just simply broken, facing the realization that he's been living a lie. I love how the default resting face of Squidward's model conveys that feeling for absolutely no reason.

I think Squidward allready knew this years ago. He probably gets this kind of thing happening to him once a week. Everyone hates Squidward, that's not a newsflash to him, cuase he also hates everyone. That's just how things are. Do people really not get that? I thought that was an obvious thing with his character... maybe people should watch the show again, I haven't seen anything of the recent series, but from the last time I watched in 2005 it was still pretty obvious that Squidward hated everyone and didn't care about there approval. Did they try to change that at some point? Cuase that would kinda make his character pointless. Hell, even when he was made the manager of the secound Krusty Krab he didn't care. If he cared even a little bit about seeking approval from the others in town, I'm sure that would have ment a lot more to him, like how it did to Spongebob. Squidward just has thick skin, nothing wrong with that. Spongebob on the other hand...

The saddest part is that the fish is wrong about the whole town not liking him. Patrick and SpongeBob are the only two people in Bikini Bottom who have ever shown Squidward unconditional love and kindness, and they are the two people he pushes away the most.

Mr. Krabs, Mrs. Puff, Plankton, Sandy, and even Spongebob and Patrick themselves have all been rude, cruel, or mean to people. And even if they weren't, the average Bikini Bottom resident is either a moron, an asshole, or BOTH, willing to start physical altercations, burn down buildings, and literally lynch people for something as simple as dropping a wrapper on the ground. Squidward isn't any different from these people. In fact, he is arguably the only one in the town that can reasonably justify his behavior. He gets paid little to nothing and lives next to people who harass, stalk, injure, and damage property belonging to him on a daily basis, all the while having his hobbies - the only things that bring him happiness - ridiculed, shamed, or literally destroyed. And how does he act? He doesn't hurt anyone, he doesn't cause property damage, and he certainly doesn't witch-hunt anyone. So what, he's a little sarcastic and mean. Tell me you wouldn't, if you worked in a customer service job in a town of psychopathic middle schoolers.

Am I the only one with the original PS2 game with 100% completion?

I remember when the original vid came out, people ripped into this saying “this is what happens when someone who isn’t a cartoon writer writes the dialogue” or something like that.

Imagine Squidward just saying, “Are you going to keep flapping your jaw, sir, or do you want to shove it with a greasy nightmare already?" Unironically, this is (somewhat of) a good message. I'm actually a bit tired of people idolizing Squidward. The whole point of the show is to point out that SpongeBob and Squidward live more or less the same lives, but with very different outlooks. I won't deny Squidward his few minutes of fame, but there's a reason "SpongeBob SquarePants" is the title of the show.

@Raspian Kiado This was in the earlier seasons where Squidward would usually be tormented only by his own mean-spiritedness. That's when he moved to Squidville and realized Spongebob and Patrick made his life interesting. Of course, then later on in the show, many of their interactions are literally just torturing Squidward for doing nothing wrong.

Saddest part is even if squidward wanted to change (and has in multiple episodes) that no one will give him a chance to show that he's making a difference. They assume it's an act or generally don't care anyways due to they're preconceived idea of who Squidward is and how he acts. By the end of any episode where he is trying to change his tone and make a difference, other people's inability to see change or the dark humor of fate causes him to break and go back to his old ways. Sometimes people don't get a chance to change.

Squidward's behavior is why they won't give him a chance. He's shown pretty much everyone in Bikini Bottom that he thinks he's better than them and treats them like uncultured morons. Even someone as arrogant as Squilliam treats his friends with decency. Squidward has the same cynical and condescending attitude towards everyone. Squidward has had chances to change but he's never sincere. Deep down he truly thinks he's better than everyone else and even the dumbest people can figure that out. That's the reason why his life is so miserable, it's universal karma.

Now I want an adult oriented spin-off where Squidward realizes how immature he is and gets his stuff together. He still plays clarinet in his free time but he's more focused on his career as an art teacher at Bikini Bottom University. Over time he comes to understand that his resentment toward Spongebob was misdirected anger at his own failure. Then before long all his personal growth makes him ready for love and he meets someone. Having finally achieved something for himself he can look back and appreciate the energy and talent of Spongebob so he goes back to mentor him. Under Squidward's tutelage Spongebob develops quickly and the pair go on to shake up the world of art and music. But Patrick isn't ready to move forward and feels abandoned by Spongebob. Patrick looks with scorn on the lives Squidward and Spongebob have build for themselves and wonders if he will forever live in Spongebob's shadow.

I used to (and still kind of am) a cashier for a grocery store chain and let me tell you, if you acted anything close to Squidward (snide remarks, the shitty behavior) your ass is getting dragged to the office and chewed out by the boss. I will say you don’t need to like every customer and in all honesty, I really don’t like dealing with customers, but I don’t let it show 24/7. There’s a reason Squidwards don’t last very long outside of miracles.

Alright, I find it quite funny that squidward’s expression doesn’t change at all. Doesn’t even look him in the eye, which makes me think this is just a daily occurrence for squidward.

This dude is speaking the truth so well that even I, who needed this lesson, am left speechless!

Remember. No one wants to be a Squidward.

I don’t know what it is about this animation style, but I’d love to see Spongebob episodes animated entirely like this. Completely normal, all except the animation being wacky as hell like this. Plus, I’d imagine this being one of the additions that some episodes would get as a bonus. Just a random fourth wall break or extra dialogue for more humor to fill potential gaps in the episodes.

This is a fresh twist on spongebob memes, I love it It's 100% true: We definitely relate to Squidward, but that doesn't mean we SHOULD act like him

This is Skeet Claps Back but for SpongeBob. Hell the person doing the callout is also being surprisingly fair and honest, and not just relying on anger and insults because they ultimately mean it well as an intervention when calling out the self-importance of someone else.

You know Squidward hears these rants so wearily often that he actually counts the times he’s heard certain lines.

To be fair, the fish is right, but the show also has multiple episodes where Squidward actually tried his best with something, or actually seems like he has a chance to get ahead in life fair and square, and yet it blows up in his face anyway. I would think THAT is what really wears him down and makes him lash out the most, more than just working at the Krusty Krab. It's what's so good about Band Geeks, because the episode seems like it's going in this direction again, and then turns around and throws Squidward a bone.

I honestly thought Squidward was a relatable character, because EVEN I get tired of everyone else. But now, the other guy actually makes a some point points. Even if Squidward's job isn't fun or anything, he should just try to be nice, then maybe people will treat him better, then maybe his days would be more enjoyable.

I mean, there have been times where Squidward tried being nice, like apologizing to SpongeBob when he felt like he had genuinely wronged the little guy, only for all of it to be one big April fool's. He gave a genuine apology and essentially got "relax it was a joke lol" from everyone in town.

But you know what, he's been having a bad week and he just wanted a sandwich and enough time to eat it so he goes back to his job as a Courtesy Clerk for Fish Whole Foods. He deals with, funnily enough, worse bullshit than Squidward ever would, as he's a citizen dealing with other fodder characters. He knows full well his role in the show as a casualty sooner or later, but he remains polite about it, telling him he doesn't appreciate a doomed attitude at the one place he can eat at before he clocks back in.

Well, one other thing to consider is Sqiudward really has the worst neighbors one could have. It's played off as them being playful, but they really do cause him trouble, they are often excessively loud, they do break his property, they do literally harass him when he wants do be left alone. Squidward can't find peace even at his own house, that's the dirrerence between him and Fish. And Fish may like Spongebob, but it's questionable if he would still like him if he had to live next to him and deal with his shit.

It is a reason for his behavior but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable. Where I currently work, I work with a SpongeBob, someone you describe, and I don’t even have the luxury of this guy being a good employee. He’s lazy as shit, constantly overextends his breaks so he can get an extra 15 on his already 15 minute long break and ignores the intercom when we call him back to his register and frequently holds up customers with random trivia and whatever the fuck for several minutes at a time and to top it all off, he essentially can’t be fired because his parents are rich and use his Asperger Diagnosis to get him back to work even if it’s an absolutely fireable offense, which hits hard for me because I have an Asperger’s Diagnosis that has both kept me from finding work and has actually gotten me fired from a job (not my actual behavior mind you, the diagnosis itself). Despite all of that though, I don’t let what *he’s* doing affect my behavior with the customer, yeah I’ll definitely be pissed because I’m next for a break and this dickhead won’t respond to the intercom telling him to get back to work, pushing my already pushed back break even further but the old lady just trying to get her groceries doesn’t deserve to get shit from me because of that because even if I don’t like dealing with customers. *it’s not their fault*

That's the thing: Fish doesn't. He doesn't need to put himself in those shoes because he's forced to be a Fish Whole Foods guy. He basically deals with grumpier versions of SpongeBob every day, from hobos to Karens, and he has enough willpower to trudge to work everyday, say hello to everyone, remain "happy" and maintain energy until the day ends. In a way, he's the middle phase of SpongeBob and Squidward. He's seen enough shit to rip apart his soul, and yet he maintains that glimmer of hope from within that "tomorrow is a new day". ...and Squidward took a crap all over his Thursday order by being an asshole.

@@jayjay86443 I feel like what I said was based in the show, and what you say is a complete creation of your imagination xd which is still fine, it's a nice story. But again, I wasn't talking about people one meets during his work hours in customer service, nor people they might meet on their way to and from work. I was pointing to the fact that Squidward can't find peace in his own house. Which is not something most people struggle with. Your whole story is about Fish's work again, there's no reason to assume he meets worse people at his job than Squidward at his, Squidward also deals with all the regular customers, not just Spongebob. But the difference is, most people can at least relax when they get back to their own apartment - Squidward can't. It's a huge difference, between just having to struggle through the day, and NEVER having your own personal time and space.

​@@dbelow_1556 yeah I guess that's true, but I think they were still always rather oblivious towards his requests to leave him alone. Spongebob always had his loud annoying laugh, they would come into Squid's house uninvited since season 1 I think, like in the episode where they melted his statue of himself. But there was far more nuance back then for sure, a little nuance from another side of the spectrum is that Spongebob wasn't even objectively "liked by everyone", regular fish would also sometimes get slightly irritated by his oblivious cheerfulness and taunt him. Besides, Squidward being sarcastic towards customers was usually shown not to be understood by them, cause they were also quite dumb. Like in the exact scene this video is based upon. I don't think it's all that much of being a jerk when you don't really bring people down, cause the only person that understands your jokes is you. So this video is more of a creative reinterpretation than an accurate to the show dissection.

NGL the "I'm not gonna call out Mr. Crabs" bit is what ties it all together. It simply just gives this a whole extra level of decency and class that would be needed otherwise.

LIke, hating working at Customer service and not liking people that much I can understand and some episodes he can be victim (especially post movie) but they act like he was always a victim 24/7 and was never a d*** for no good reason. Yeah Squidward can be mean at times. Poor guy has talent but no one wants to help him or they just don't care about him. Dude deserves more. But let me just say, in case you forgot, the citizens of Bikini Bottom are straight up savage, to the point that I could not care about any of them really. In the episode The Sponge Who Could Fly, SpongeBob follows his dreams in wanting to fly, fails, and gets ridiculed by the town. Then when he speaks up for himself, a whole group of citizens just try to legit murder him or run him out of town. Isn't SpongeBob the same guy that makes y'all Krabby Patties? Because without them the town would apparently be in ruins and there would be an apocalypse. Anyway, in that same episode, where SpongeBob actually manages to fly, the citizens time and time again ask him to help them with the most stupidest of favors. And they know that SpongeBob is a really nice guy, so they're just abusing him. Even when SpongeBob is done with favors and tries to get away from them, they legit try to kill him again. When they approach his unconscious body, thinking they got him, they take his pants off and give them a burial. Not SpongeBob. Squidward is mean, but he doesn't deserve almost all the bad things towards him. I'd rather sit down and enjoy a day with Squidward himself than to be around these cruel, idiotic citizens of Bikini Bottom.
