Hi everyone! Missed you so much last week. Back at it with a great vlog all about my first week on my inpatient pediatrics rotation! Lots of newborns (my absolute favorite), and you can see the highs and lows of peds. I can see how this particular field can be incredibly depressing, but also very rewarding. Oh and yes, I'm currently living in a motel... :'-) Leave a comment down below about what you've been up to this last week! I seriously miss hearing from you all

Absolutely love that you included aspects of the physical exam for a newborn on here. I just finished learning the general physical exam so it’s really neat to see how it’s altered to accommodate for a newborn. Also may I just say it’s so fun to watch you go through pediatrics or anything OB/GYN related. You have obviously found an area that excites you 🥰

It’s really nice to see people in the process of jumping between all the experience they’re ever going to need to get where they want to be. I think it can help people believe in pursuing their own dreams a little, which I totally struggle with. I’ve never gotten to see new born life like that. Must be the most beautiful and life affirming thing. It’s good to remember that always exists.

You have to not let it affect you or get to you. You will cry in your way to work and it will take a toll on your mental health. Just do the best you can everyday to do your job and that itself will be enough. Show them love and care ❤. I've been doing it for 1 year and 2 months lol. It took me a good month to get used to it. I honestly love my job though.

Rachel getting teary eyed because human babies were so cute to her. Meanwhile I'm thinking, "ah, so like puppies." 😂 I think you can tell which one is the kid person. As far as the mom's that didn't want to hold their babies, there can be a variety of reasons. You may not know if they are struggling with mental health issues or if the baby was the result of a sexual assault yet they still chose to continue the pregnancy. I know you want to give all the love to the babies and do carry them and talk to them if you're allowed because it's good for them. But unless a mom tells you her reasoning, if she can even underatand it, you may not know if holding her baby is emotionally painful to her. Obviously not fair to the baby who didn't choose to be here but having worked with victims of crime, including domestic violence, I ask that you please not write them off as not caring at all. Hopefully you're feeling better from your booster shot. I have to hold off on mine for medical reasons so thank you to everyone choosing to get vaccinated.

Hey! Totally understand. I couldn’t explain the story due to HIPAA, but I had the full story and reasoning and that’s why it was emotional. I was not making any assumptions. :) I 100% don’t write off moms as not caring haah. The one baby I was talking about in this story had an entire backstory that I could not explain. 👍🏼

You said most of the babies are staying in the hospital. Are they suffering the same health problems and being cared for separately from the others? Please explain in a video what causes common birthmarks. Do they really appear at birth or sometime afterward?

That orange curtain caught my eye ,and I realised that rachel uses less colors around her, her colors are mostly grey ,blue and white . But I would love to see more colors around her, (only if she is comfortable). I dont know what it adds, but just saying.

Questions related to birth in Islamic culture: Why are Muslim women keen to eat dates before giving birth? Why does the child cry immediately after birth? Why 40 days a man is not entitled to sleep with his wife after giving birth? Why does a Muslim woman not pray for 40 days after giving birth? When is a child weaned from mother's milk in Islam?

Privileged ass doctor feels soooo sad that mom doesn't want to hold and cuddle her baby, cannot fathom that there are reasons for that being the case. Tasteless and judgemental as hell. Stay in your lane.
