I love your system here I've been in the laser business for 33 years and this is the best setup I've ever seen for rotary. On a big laser why did it was 75 Watts size wise 15 ft by 20 cost pretty much a second mortgage at $145,000 back in 1990 what I did with it besides gun stocks for weatherby was laser engrave drumsticks but what I like about your setup you can do drumsticks but you might be able to do wood wine bottles and that would be sweet liked and subscribed you now have a new follower!

Thanks. These are low cost Chinese lasers that have no safety features or fume control and they are fun to use on projects. They are only about 4 watt output blue lasers that do not work on light or reflective surfaces but do a good job on wood. About half way through this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/qmyZrMWkgtGvltY.html is an example of the kind of projects that I use them for. For a couple hundred dollars they work good once you get the settings down. Thanks for watching and subbing.

The YRR I received on the 24th of March 2021 had the belt routed as you show. The belt is also the right size.

Thank you for the awesome videos! I make wooden duck calls and am considering buying the Ortur 2 and the rotary accessory to engrave images of elk, flying ducks, lettering, etc. on my calls. The only issue is the call barrel isn’t perfectly cylindrical (it tapers and changes shape), so it won’t roll correctly between the two rollers. Do you think the rotary attachment could be modified so that I could slip the call over a single rod to rotate it? The calls have a 5/8” drilled hole though them. Also, would this etch anodized aluminum?

the taper would affect the focus and I doubt the outcome would be acceptable. It would be easy to 3d print adapters but you really need a machine with z travel and more complex software to deal with distortion. Thanks for watching.

Really great videos! All of them are super helpful as I am new to this, having a hard time getting my image to be centered on my rotary, using a tapered 16” glass, I have it leveled but it seems it needs more support than what I have so off to the hardware store I go! I’m also very interested in the little nut holders you 3D printed, how much would you charge to make me a set and ship them to me? Thanks a bunch!

Thanks. I see the newer rotary's come with a set of rollers to help with tapered glasses. One thing I want to try also is get some wide rubber bands and use them to level them. I can't make things to sell. You could easily make them from small pieces of aluminum and just tap the holes. Thanks for watching.

I have not tried that because I don't have proper ventilation but Ortur says it can be done. You would need fairly straight walls because of the short focus length and no z travel. Thanks for watching.

Have you attached the rotary to the Ortur Master 2? I have them both but a little unsure on what direction I was going to go in reference to how to place the laser to maximize the rotary use.

I have 2- 15 watt. I understand the 20 watt is best for engraving with it's short focus distance and the 15 watt is better for cutting but it also does a good job engraving. Don't know about the 7 watt. I think they all use the same blue diode and are driven at different input power with different lenses.

Just curious, do you think this laser and roller could be configured to engrave the inside of wood rings?

Build a base that references the x rail outside of the travel area or just put pins in the base and mount to easily drop it in place. It all depends on the base you use and how high the item on the rotary is. Thanks for watching.

No. I don't have proper ventilation to handle the hazardous fumes from things like that. Reflective surfaces must be coated. Contact Ortur with exactly what you need to do and they can tell you what is required. Thanks for watching.

I dont suppose I could bother you for the stl for the parts you have designed? Also what size belt did you use in the end? I changed the roller layout on mine got rid of the locktight nuts and replaced them with some spacers works well

I have some rolling pins to try and also want to try Acrylic glasses. Tapered pens will need an adapter to keep them tracking properly. Also want to see how big bowl it can handle. Thanks for watching.

In your video, I noticed that the engraver did letter by letter and it seemed to be much much quicker. Is there a way to have the same settings in lightburn to allow the laser to engrave letter by letter opposed to doing small horizontal lines?

Contact your laser manufacturer. You probably could just use the y stepper cable and modify the steps per mm in grbl. Thanks for watching.

Don't replace the screws with Phillips. Just use the correct size hollow ground driver bit for the sizes you use. Or do it all up with Allens. JIS is a choice too, but it and Phillips are really for large scale assembly. IMHO. Good vid.

A little bit of advice regarding your CR10, if you'll allow it. Before printing, preheat to the material's temp, then take an abrasive sponge and clean the nozzle. You also should tweak the retract values in your slicer of choice (if you're using cura, i find that a speed of 29 and a distance of 7 is decent point to start from. I also suggest you get a hold of Simplify3D (i'm using 4.0.0 now) and learn to use it, it's a steep curve to climb, but it pays as it does slicing better than Cura (the multiple choice tweaking is murder tho, but it's worth it in the end). Also, get yourself a shock dampener for the Nema motor that runs the bed, it will reduce the vibrations drastically, thus improve the quality of the prints. One other thing, print over paper tape (i advise you buy 4 rolls at once, of the best tape you can find, then leave it in a cold, moderately damp place for a few weeks before using them, it makes the adhesive better, but that might vary on what tape you have at your disposal) and lay it diagonally, not parallel to the edges of the bed. Then, using Herlitz red stick glue (this is the best stick glue for this application, period, .87 cents on Amazon) smear the tape in even strokes. Once that's done, use the knife they gave you (Creality, i mean) and spread it thinly and uniformly). This will need to be reapplied each time you have to print something, if the tape survives. To remove an item from the tape, embed the knife into a corner (i usually design a sacrificial nib for that) and using your left hand to support the bed, press the putty knife in to lift. Really, once you figure out this system, and get used to it, the problem will be removing parts, not losing them. The tape and glue part of this text is because i'm assuming (wrong or not) that you ditched it because it was troublesome. Also, don't forget to check the play in the table, they might say that you need to tighten the belts and such to their max, but that's untrue, it just needs to be taught. Tightening it too much can cause excessive vibration, and that, is the enemy of every such machine. A lot of people take their advice as law, and throw these machines out because they don't work right. I'm ...starting to think that this might be something lost in translation.

Elmer's glue sticks work great. They pop right off the pyrex plate with a razor blade when cooled. Tape is a pain to use. That's what I started with on the warped original plate. I downloaded and upgraded cura right before printing and my old cr10 settings somehow were all screwed up after upgrading. Those first prints looked like a birds nest. I re did the profile and the second prints were fine. It has been tuned up and does a good job with proper cura settings. The filament had been sitting on the printer for 6 months so it probably has moisture in it also as I don't use it much anymore. I now have a new Chiron on the way for some large parts and this will go down the road in the future. Thanks for watching.

Dont run as a circumference. Just run as a standard X, Y file with the rotary plugged into the Y connection. Thanks for watching.

You have a wiring problem because the y can't move with the cable switched to the rotary. Trying to run 2 motors on the Y driver definitely would be jumpy and probably will toast the driver. Contact Ortur and see if they can figure out what you did to the wiring.

So they're nasty phone that's not recyclable makes really good sanding blocks use double-sided tape and when I'm due in large flat surfaces that need to be hand sanded somehow that phone lets you follow all the little Contours been working really great better than the garbage can hey thanks for all your videos you made a portion of my life more enjoyable
