First* Time With Blue Falcon! - F-ZERO 99

Ойындар

* Technically you have to use Blue Falcon in the tutorial, but otherwise this was the first time I ever used the ship, including in FZSNES.
This was a "Roulette-GP" which is something that lately ‪@flan7762‬ has been hosting on their stream ( / flan776 ) every mon-wed-fri. The idea is to randomly choose from a roulette-wheel which ship and GP that will be played, with everyone then getting to use the same ship. So I thought I'd give it a go since it seemed like it would be fun. I still very much remain a Stingray-main though!
MCI - My main thought-process going into the first track was to just try and use the boost more as I knew I'd have more energy for boosting than with FS, and try to start accelerating a bit later in the start to not get the slower start. Besides that I also knew I'd have much less grip than with FS, so I just tried to keep as much speed as possible throughout the turns by by minimizing my movement as much as I could, which felt not too difficult on MCI at least. It probably helped I had already played a Roulette-GP as WG so I had some practice with driving a somewhat similiar ship, but nonetheless getting a podium position was definitely not something I was expecting.

BB - Well so much for doing the start accurately... anyway I got a fortuitous bump afterwards, so it didn't really cost me anything. I got a very lucky KO on lap 2 after hitting the wall, and decided to use a bit more boost before getting the skyway, which paid off pretty well. I then had to be pretty conservative with my boost at the end of the last lap. In hindsight I think I probably shouldn't have boosted so much in the beginning of the lap where it's mainly straightaways and easy to keep your speed, and instead I should've used my boosts after the more difficult turns later in the track where you lose quite a bit of speed after the exits of the turns.

SO - I definitely had way more difficulty keeping my speed through the turns on this track... but I guess it's just generally not an easy thing to pull off. I was pretty lucky to avoid the reds on lap 4, but yeah this went pretty well with another podium placement.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
DWI - Not gonna lie - it felt pretty nice to have a good start and be able to use a bit more boost on this track. In the end I was able to set a new best time on this track (previous best was 1'59"61 with FS), and it generally just felt pretty stress-free. A very unfamiliar feeling indeed.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Silence - It seemed like my rival for 1st crashed out on DWI, so I found myself in a pretty big lead going into the last track. My lack of experience with the ship was definitely starting to show though as I was having trouble getting through the later turns effectively. I botched the end of lap 3 pretty badly, and then at the end of lap 4 I'm honestly not sure how I didn't die lol. Anyways, I was definitely pretty content with taking 1st place overall since I hadn't used the ship before. It probably would be way more difficult though to achieve the same result in a normal lobby.

Awesome run with Falcon and your slow-mo edits are so intense, that double red bumper collision on Lap 4 Silence had me on the edge, I thought you were a goner but you still made it out on top in 1st congrats dude, HYES!

Uh-oh main change coming??... was weird not seeing you in the pink stingray. Also was in a GP with you the other day.

That long Silence slow-mo was hilarious, especially since I thought pretty early you wouldn't make it. 😅Nice seeing you play Falcon, I finally started using it too since the 1.3 update. I like having more variety...the machine I use by far the least is Stingray though. 😅Couldn't get used to the controls yet, feels the most different from the others imo.

Your plot armor was too strong in that Silence. Stronger than Captain Falcon's butt scene in GX.

these races are intense, by the end of lap 4 in dw1, so many people had crashed out that it wasn't possible to rank out

You probably noticed that the Falcon's average turning is exceptional at speed retention. But I can understand a deeply engrained habit like blast turning is hard to overcome. But I can't deny the results - great job and entertaining as always!

Yeah heh, I definitely would have to play with it more to get a better feeling on how to play it optimally. Thanks!

@@yazzozone While I use the Falcon more, I have more fun with the Stingray. So whatever content you make, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Blast-turning with other machines after playing a lot of Stingray is a funny phenomenon. 😆

Thanks! I'm not exactly sure, but I think it was because I still had a sliver of energy left after hitting the reds, so that's why I didn't crash out hitting the walls, and as I got a bump from the opponent coming from behind ,I must have had a pixel of energy left when that happened, and luckily I was able to avoid the rail as well. Shortly afterwards I pressed the boost button, and it looks like by doing that I barely avoided a second bump, which otherwise probably would have killed me.
