FIRST TIME wearing TRADITIONAL BHUTANESE CLOTHES (Gho & Kira), Punakha Dzong - Bhutan Travel Vlog!

Come follow us on this journey as we get dressed in the Bhutanese traditional costumes - Gho & Kira - for the VERY FIRST TIME. We learnt more about the culturally and historically rich attire the Bhutanese wear with so much pride, as we tour and explore the second largest & oldest fortress in Bhutan - Punakha Dzong! Ended off the awesome day with a heartwarming dinner with Kinley & Tandin (our guide and driver).

@2:31 it was easy to just stand still and had help wearing the gho. @5:53 Punakha Dzong reminded me of the Japanese castles. Located next to a flowing river, a tall central building overseeing the region, evoking an almost zen-like vibe. Can imagine how glorious the building would have been to people of the past. @8:48 Won't exactly call it a lesson, more like a mini-summary of what we learnt from Kinley. The Wheel of Life is the representation of all realms and it serves as a reminder that all things are associated to one another and your actions, no matter how small, does have an impact on others. @15:27 is how Dochula Pass looks like after dark. It was a natural kind of real cold, one that I haven't felt in a while. It was kind of refreshing. @17.03 having our dinner at a local shop was quite the experience. This was where we learnt more about Kinley and Tandin and shared further stories and laughs. It's funny how connected we can feel after a few good 4 days, perhaps its just innate in all of us. Hope you enjoyed our vlog! 🙂

Hi Jelly and Mr. P, Hurray another vlog. I really like your Bhutan series. Which do you prefer, the kira or your Black Pink sweatshirt? I have a question, how long does it normally take for a man to wear the gho and for a lady to wear the kira? Do the gho and kira keep you warm in cold weather? I am also curious how the gho and kira are washed? Do they need to be dry cleaned or can be washed normally with water and laundry detergent? 18:04 I can't help but notice that Kinley's fingernails are so clean and well kept! 18:17 Oh a momo is a dumpling (see 20:14). At first I thought it refers to a peach. Dinner looks good. Seems like English is widely used in Bhutan. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures in Bhutan. 😊

Hi Toby! Thanks for stopping by! 😊 The Kira is surprisingly comfortable and easy to walk in, easier than a qipao actually 😂. There is quite a bit of manoeuvring space for my legs, just that one has got to be careful when climbing stairs cos it's easy to get your feet/shoes caught on the hem of the skirt. Based on observations, Mr. P took longer to get dressed (& required more help haha), while the half-kira was comparatively fuss free! Gho and Kira have seasonal 'versions'. Thicker fabrics for winter and lighter ones for summer. The ones we wore kept us warm - helped that i had two layers of pants under + one layer of heat tech top haha. 🫠🫠 Do you like momo-s?

Hi Jelly, Thanks for sharing more about the gho and kira! I like both dumplings 🥟 and peaches 🍑. I noticed that the first one and half minutes of the vlog appears to be a bit more choppy compared to the rest of the vlog when viewed on my PC.

@tobyteng7522 as the gimbal, I apologize for the choppiness of the first 1.5mins 😅 Dumplings are such an awesome cross culture food option. Fast to cook, and meaty enough to eat, a favorite for me too 🥟

@@tobyteng7522 Ah, if you meant choppy as in "shaky" footage, we apologise. Apart from Insta360 GO3 action camera, the other cameras we use do not have 'strong' image stabilisation built-in. We've also not invested in any gimbal as the entire filming set-up gets quite heavy and cumbersome to carry around sometimes. 😅 Thanks for observing that and pointing it out! We'll work on it. 🤓

Hi Jelly and Mr. P, I think I found the cause. If I right click on this video and select 'stats for nerds', I see that the current / optimal res is 1920 x 1080 @ 25 frames per second. I inspected your previous vlog video and found it was at 1920 x 1080 @ 60 frames per second. I think the choppiness is due to the lower frame rate. I don't find the footage shaky, but I noticed the video playback seems less smooth than usual. Hope the information helps 😊
