    At 18:49 Tony cracked a joke you said you didn't get...... When Jr. has the mask on, he looks like a fighter pilot, so Tony asked him how many MIGs he shot down last week. A MIG is a Russian fighter jet.

    In a way Melfi's facination for Tony mirrors our own. It's not that she loves him; she loved the stories, the darkness of the character.

    It’s like when her psychologist compared it to a rollercoaster ride. I think there’s also a voyeurism aspect to it too, she gets to see into the mind of someone extremely complex compared to her usual patients. I think the doctor in her also feels like she can “fix” him, as if she almost sees it as a personal challenge.

    To me, the image of Janice holding the gun is one of the most iconic shots of the series. Did not see that moment coming when I first watched the show.

    @yourlifeisagreatstory

    The moment to the shot is amazing, and also funny. The look on her face and the the way she nonchalantly grabs a gun and kills him, classic. You can completely see the similarities between her and Tony (and their parents).

    I laughed when Tony told Janice "All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good visit". lol... Richie is dead, Janice is moving to the other side of the country, Junior is talking to Tony, the coke is not being sold on the routes... So many problems in Tony's life just ironed themselves out during Janice's visit. hahaha

    "can they smoke? I thought that went away in the 90s..." Some places (particularly restaurants) started before the actual laws went into effect. A restaurant I personally loved had done it willingly, thinking that it would entice more people to show up, knowing that they wouldn't be bothered by the smoke. It actually had the opposite effect - all the smokers left, and they didn't gain nearly enough new regulars. They shut down a few months later. Every state had different laws about this, enacted in different times. For New Jersey, the statewide law was passed in 2006. What we're seeing on screen here is probably...2001? Although the public's view of smoking had shifted and you certainly saw it a lot less than you would have in the 90s, it wasn't illegal there yet.

    One of the best episodes :) The thing you have to realise watching it is that Janice is no joke. She isn't someone who talks about all that feminist stuff, the rights of women etc, she means every word. One time he spoke to her and treated her in a way she didn't accept and she dealt with it. No giving the man another chance, no giving him some benefit of the doubt, she knew she had a choice between either living that way or getting out of it in a way that was as final as possible and because she's a Soprano she did what she had to do. Janice knows who she is and what she wants and she wants it her way. I love her character. Strong and fierce and independent.

    I was born and raised in North Jersey.. I've been to some of these locations many times. I was even caught on video in one of the episodes.. the episode, where pauly Pauly was confronted, for sniffing panties...P Pauly and tony were arguing out front of the strip joint during that episode and you'll see me peel out a little bit in my car ,, that was route 17 near Lodi , Hasbrouck Heights border.. I lived one or two towns over I was going to visit my girlfriend who lived in Rutherford.. but yeah, there was traffic on that highway because of that filming people got distracted and slowed down I guess.. I remember seeing the crew and I'm like you know what since they can't see me , I'll leave a marker so I hit the gas a little..lol hey I was young early 20s.. there's also another few scenes where they beat up a guy that was filmed literally one block from my house in Paramus, Fairlawn, Saddlebrook border... at my job, in Nj I got to know a few mafia people. One guy in particular was an enforcer for the mob, Teamsters union nicest guy in the world. once you got to know him. he's told me quite a few stories. Nothing too in-depth obviously... but enough that you knew what was going on he was in his 70s when I last saw him in the mid 90s so he's probably long gone.. but yeah, even at 70 years old he was volatile .. one particular incident he was telling me about a guy in town particular the police used to come in all the time for my job and we all hang out together. He grabbed the guy out of a car at a red light in town and gave him a whole bloody face.. because he cut him off, he pulled him out of the car at the red light... I remember him telling me he said to the guy how old you are he's like I'm 42 or something like that he's like I'm in my 70s and I kicked your ass...lol I remember him telling me the story as he started laughing. It just happened that day...lol quite a few stories some not too nice.. very general discussions, but involves hurting people.. so even those guys didn't really want to do it, but had to that was their job.. or they themselves would get hurt.. it's pretty crazy. It feels like yesterday all this stuff,,, but yeah I'll be 50 soon. Crazy thinking about that.
