The “Jamaican Bobsled Team” comment was a reference to a popular movie that came out in the 90s called Cool Runnings. It was based on the “real life” story of two guys from Jamaica who, against all odds, formed a bobsled team and competed in the olympics. The movie was unrealistic but was entertaining. Love the channel -you’re really entertaining to watch my favorite movies and the Sopranos along with. Already over 8000 subs. Congrats!

I think the bigger thing that people don't realize is that besides the whole Mafia thing, secrecy, etc. back in the 90s, even into the 2000s, seeing a therapist, mental health, it was still somewhat looked down on. "Only crazy/weak people see Psychiatrists" sort of stuff. In their world, it could be a sign of weakness..

39:04 scenes like this made James Gandolfini easily top 5 actor of all time, when you get done with the series there is a couple documentaries I think HBO made with the cast after he died and some other interviews with people that worked with him. He was nothing like this in real life he was more quiet hippy type of guy, but to be able to pull of the anger and psychotic nature of this character so easily was incredible. Also as a man I don't get it but like every woman that he worked with all talked about how sexy he was, I think in one interview Diane Lane said he was the sexiest man she had ever known.

Get ready for seasons 2 through 4. They are some of the greatest seasons of television of all time. I can't wait for you to see where all of this goes. And if you ever want someone to explain the hierarchy of the family to you, just ask us. Just know there are 5 crews in the DiMeo New Jersey family. When the show started it was Jackie as Boss, and the 5 Capos were: Tony Junior Larry Barese Raymond Curto Jimmy Altieri Each one of them reported to Jackie, and each one had their own crew (Sil, Puss, Paulie are the made guys in Tony's crew...Chris isn't made in the mob yet. He's just a soldier). Once, Jackie died, and Junior became "Boss", everything gets jumbled. Especially now with Junior and Larry Barese getting indicted, and Jimmy Altieri getting whacked. It'll be a little messy organizing the family going forward with Tony at the top now, and 3 of the Capos dead or in jail... but during seasons 2 and 3 the family starts to reorganize properly. Also, you should know that Johhny Sack is the Underboss (second-in-command) of one of the New York families run by the Boss named Carmine Lupertazzi. See, you should know, the five New York families really hold all the power in the mob. Even though the Jersey family is technically it's own family, they answer to New York in many ways. The 5 bosses of the 5 New York Families run the big Mafia Comission. Though powerful, no New Jersey Boss gets any say on the Comission.

I'd be surprised if anyone actually LIKEs Livia as a person. I mean I find her to be an interesting character concept, to explore the evil in characters. Important to the show. Written to be hated, and we hate her, but don't want her off the show, because we want to see more of her to hate. Of course we shouldn't really LIKE any of the characters as people. But she is the worst. And we do see sides of the other characters that I don't think redeems them but still parts that we can like outside of the other stuff.

In my opinion uncle June may be a bigger monster than Tony. Because uncle June had people whacked for stupid reasons and not only that but he is insanely insecure. But yeah in this life family loyalty and friendship always gets thrown out the window. And not only that but the fact that uncle June is willing to have his nephew whacked just literally proves how all that gets thrown out the window. Because that’s the thing uncle June was just jealous of Tony. Jealous that he became more powerful than him I really love how this season deals with the themes of Power struggles and the battle for control.

When this premiered, The Sopranos was a massive sensation. And it just gets better and better. By the way, the actor who plays Father Phil (Paul Schulze) and Edie Falco are close friends in real life. And they've been on a lot of the same shows. He co-starred on her show Nurse Jackie. Father Phil’s show us he’s largely unfazed knowing Tony is a mass murderer. As long as he gets nice gifts & free gourmet food & a little ego boost from women he’s fine with it. Good advice would be telling Carmela to leave... immediately... for the sake of her children. Good advice would be take a plea deal & get into witnesses protection program so her kids aren’t doomed by mob life. A moral stance would be bar all the mobsters & their families from his church. Father Phil & Carmela are knowing accomplices to mass murder. Only difference between them is the priest is fine with it & Carm struggles with it. Only character that tries to be honest about Tony & does anything to get out of this life is Meadow. She has a stronger understanding of morality than Father Phil.

If you don’t find the racial jokes funny... don’t worry there’s a lot more to come. A LOT more!! Fact is every mobster is a stone cold racist. Every mob ever created was formed along racial lines. Every mob sees their race as superior to all others. Racial slurs & jokes are made throughout the show. How else can the writers show who these people really are unless they show it?
