I think Brendan Fraiser has gotten the closest to any actor at recapturing the Harrison Ford Han Solo/India Jones character's vibe. Competent when he needs to be hilariously unlucky when he's not. Also, The Mummy is the perfect mix of action, adventure and humor.

The practical stunt for the hanging scene went terribly wrong and Fraser was strangled unconscious. Once they realized that he was really out cold and not acting, EMT's had to step in and revive him. In fact, years of directors convincing him to do many of his own stunts, led to so many back injuries, that he needed multiple surgeries over the years to repair the damage. This led to him being out of work for many years and was the primary source of all his weight gain.

Nah, he did it to himself, trying to sell the scene. Sommers stated as such and hasn't had any other "accidents" like that filming. Brendan Fraser is a drama queen who let himself go because his shtick was always "goofy action guy." Just like Sean William Scott or others, he made himself unmarketable for anything else until this modern-day sob story he's selling all these kids.

36:14 "Everyone in this film has got a gym membership!" That reminds me of a funny behind-the-scenes story that the director of the movie told in his commentary. John Hannah (Jonathan in the film) was nervous about the scene in which he would appear shirtless (when he's getting attacked by the scarab), so he spent the day before that scene was filmed working out in a gym. According to the director, John was complaining all through the shoot about how much his muscles hurt from the previous day's workout!

I’m so excited for this! Brendan Fraser went through so much. I highly recommend ‘The Whale’. Based on a true story! As for Brendan, Hollywood screwed him over, big time. He was sexually assaulted, unfortunately. Ex-wife charged him lots of money, and over the years with less films, it was harder to come up with the amount of money she was asking for. Also did most of his own stunts, especially for these films. And unfortunately caused a lot of issues to his body and surgeries. The hanging scene, he actually passed out on for a moment! But yes, I can’t wait to see this reaction! Hopefully y’all do the other films as well(minus the Tom Cruise one😂). Also, I highly recommend ‘The Butterfly Effect’! Doesn’t have Brendan in it, but it’s a real mind screw and a tear jerker for you and Hanna!

Secondly, this movie was my absolute favorite movie growing up. And it still holds that same charm as it back in the day when it first came out. It was an instant hit that propelled Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to stardom. It has everything: action, romance, horror and comedy. And as Ash has mentioned, it actually takes you into the period of time be it the ancient time or the modern time. Ash, you should definitely check out another gem of a movie which is highly underrated called The 13th Warrior. An amazing crossover between the Middle East and the Vikings. I was always a bit shocked looking back that Oded Fehr (the Medjai that you liked so much) didn't have more of a movie career. When I first saw the movie he seemed to be one of the most interesting characters and the actor did very well, but Oded seems to have focused more on voice acting and tv roles.

"Was there even coffee back then?" Egyptian corvee laborers (basically conscripted workers) were the best paid workers in history. Not only did they get free middle class housing, free medical care, free food, government arranged marriages, free skilled training so they could advance out of basic manual labor, but also part of their pay was in beer. Production of beer at the time was a religious monopoly and very expensive. The laborers could sell their beer for a lot of money. Many of the laborers became very rich, and a few became nobility.

Ash, I swear this is probably my favourite reaction from you. When you lost it whenever Omid came on screen, I was in stitches. I always found him funny but you took it to another level! And your bias towards Oded Fehr because he looks like you had me dying as well. That man's hair is GORGEOUS! I appreciated him more during this reaction. PS: Hannah dictating how to do the nose flick and kiss was funny but the effort took the romance out of it I think! 😂 Thank you for this amazing reaction, it was so much fun! :)
