I would say trust the story. If Disney was successful in the retelling of the books, then the whole series/whole 5 books would reveal how powerful he is. Actually I think it's smart with Disney to acquire this series because they owned the story of the powerful demigod which was Hercules. And Disney could easily make a spinoff with Percy and Hercules after the series ends. Btw Hercules also had a satyr who trained him according to Disney's Hercules Animated movie. Also if Disney was successful with Percy Jackson and the Olympians series then they could also make a live action for Heroes of the Olympus series; which is another series but with new Heroes. Anyways if you want to relate with Quinn, you could check out the remake movie of Clash of the Titans (2010) and it's sequel Wrath of the Titans (2012) or the classic 1981 Clash of the Titans where you could see Maggie Smith(Prof. McGonagall of Harry Potter) in it. Not to confuse you guys but Percy and Greek mythology Perseus are different from each other; Percy Jackson was named after Perseus of Greek Myths and original Perseus was a son of Zeus just like Herakles or Hercules. Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans was a story about original Perseus. Rick Riordan, the author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was a teacher IRL just like J.K. Rowling of Harry Potter books. Rick Riordan taught Greek Mythology at school.

Kudos to the actors for capturing that chemistry. Also Tobey Stephens (who plays Poseidon) is fantastic in the show Black Sails, would definitely recommend!

Percy Jackson isn't the same Perseus from mythology. He is just named after him. Being the son of one of the "Big Three", Percy has more raw power than the other demigods. Riptide, his sword, is a powerful relic of Poseidon so it make sense that it would prove strong than a relic of a lesser god. Grover's magical shoes were not the same as Herme's shoes, they are just a copy he made for Luke.

What they didn't explain in the show is the bolt hadn't been in Percy's backpack since the moment he got it from Ares. Like Percy's sword reappears in his pocket wherever it is thrown/lost, the bolt was tied to its 'container' (the backpack) by Ares. He directly transported it there when the kids were in the underworld/near Tartarus (the big hole). (The underworld isn't Hell, by the way. Tartarus is equivalent to hell- that's a fall wayyyyy down from the underworld. Fields of Asphodel is the limbo. And Elysium, also in underworld (but a beautiful and blissful place), is equivalent to heaven.)

Percy is one of the strongest demi-gods because he's the son of a big three god (Poseidon), but he's mostly strong when it's related to water, he's not just strong in every single thing he does. For examples, at this point in the story other demi-gods like Annabeth, Luke, Clarisse etc would realistically still be better than Percy in most non water related demi-god skills since they've been training longer (Annabeth has been at camp since she was around seven years old). Percy beat Clarisse because he was by water and same with the Minitour (it was raining). Water is his fathers domain, he's more powerful by the sea and other water like things....that's not to say he's not still powerful away from water, it's just he's not that experienced as yet in his skills. So you're not wrong, considering they were in a desert like area at the time then realistically the shoes would have pulled him and Grover in if the script didn't need them to survive lol :)

The reason why Hades’ fortress gives lotr vibes is probably because the production designer on the show is Dan Hennah who worked on all 6 lotr/hobbit movies. And I must say I agree, the fortress bares slight resemblance to Dol Guldur the fortress in Mirkwood where the Necromancer dwells in The Hobbit.

In the first book Percy is 12 so the ages are right and there is a lot of humor and sarcasm. Percy is strong, remember when he broke the minotaurs horn with his bare hands? And Clarisse didn’t believe that he really killed the minotaur. That’s because he’s more powerful than other demigods, because he’s a child of the big three (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades). I remember the scene with Procrustes (crusty) being a lot more brutal though. There are 5 Percy Jackson books and it’s going to get darker. After that there is another 5 book series called Heroes of Olympus and after that another 5 book series called Trials of Apollo.

In my opinion the fact that Percy could be completely overpowered by Hades lends to his heroism. He only says "but it's wrong and I won't do it." so he's taking a stand in the face of what could be certain death, even if Hades gets the bolt in the end. He still did what was right even if he lost. Love your reactions to the show! Can't wait for the last episode.

To answer your question. Percy himself is quite naturally gifted with the sword. After a few week of using it he is a strong fighter for a rookie. Also Percy is the son of Poseidon! He is one of the big 3 they are the most powerful gods in the current times. So that gives perfect white a boost in abilities and powers. It’s also a matter of luck some demigods are more human and others have many skills that’s their godly parent has. Such as Annabeth is quite intellectual and is incredible at tactical strategies.

Porcrustes was indeed a son of Poseiden who would invite travelers to sleep in a bed that would magically bind them. If the traveler was too tall, he'd lop off their head/feet; if too short, he'd use chains to stretch them to "fit." Porcrustes was killed by the hero Theseus (who also killed the minotaur - see a trend there?), who tricked him onto the bed. As for Percy's powers, he's still growing and learning, but he will eventually become one of the most powerful demigods alive. And his sword is an ancient weapon (its backstory is revealed in the third book), which makes Percy even stronger.

  • @dannyhill2543

So I'm a big fan of the Percy Jackson series and future series which are based in the same "world". I won't give any spoilers but to clarify demigod strength which they don't really explain in the series, most demigods are pretty powerful but the children of the "big 3 gods" are the most powerful. This is why the rule for Zues, Posidon and Hades not to have any children as they were too powerful. This rule was issued by Zues after WW2 as lot of the leaders were children of "the big 3". The power of the demigods isn't limited to weapons, all demigods will have extra skills and power they can utilise but takes them time and training to master it. I hope this helps explain a bit more of the lore and I hope you enjoy the finale next week! Happy to answer any questions if I can!

When I was younger (I'm 53), I loved reading the various Greek mythology stories, so I remember at least some of Procrustese's story. I didn't remember his name I also don't remember which hero confronted him and how that confrontation ended, but I remember him and his bed. According to the myth, he would invite travelers to stay the night. He had a single bed for them and he made sure that they "fit" the bed. If they were too tall, then he cut off their legs and if they were too short, then he'd stretch them to fit. Not exactly a nice guy.

I can't wait to see your reactions for the last episode! I also didnt know about Procrustes until I read the PJO books. As for Percy, in the first book he's kinda clueless about his raw ability and then as the books progress he really grows into his power and earns the title of one of the greatest demigods. Im so excited for the show to get into the darker tone of the later books.

How powerful Percy is depends on his location (among other things, of course). Remember when he was fighting Clarisse during Capture the Flag, and he was losing badly until she drove down to the lake, and without even touching the water, he suddenly started beating her pretty neatly? That was fresh water. Seawater has the same effect, only more so. Of course that was only against Ares's daughter; it remains to be seen whether he can so much as hold his own against the god himself, even on the beach like this -- assuming of course that you're right about even having a showdown right here in the first place.

The thing is with the movie of Percy Jackson that's why it failed it's because the producers cut certain bits and pieces that would be crucial for the sequel and trying to introduce them on the sequel is just bad storytelling or rather messy storytelling. Unlike Harry Potter the planted seeds in the first movie that would be crucial to the second movie, for example: the sorting hat ceremony in Sorcerer's Stone where the Houses were introduced and the little conversation between Harry and Draco where Harry thinks Slytherin House were bad people and sorting hat wants to place on Slytherin; all of those were needed in Chamber of Secrets movie because it solidifies the idea of Slytherins as bad people because Salazar Slytherin himself built the Chamber of Secrets to get rid of Mudbloods/Muggleborns and the idea of Harry should be in Slytherin because he's a parcelmouth is a crucial plot that Harry could be Slytherin's descendant in 2nd movie. Then in the 2nd movie of Harry Potter they introduced the Whomping Willow by having Harry and Ron crashed the flying Ford Angela in it and Snape telling us that it was planted there before Harry and Ron were born and gave the viewers the question of why it was planted there; and the answer was in the third movie because it was guarding the entrance to the Shrieking Shack where Lupin used to go and transform into a werewolf every month on full moon while Lupin was still a student at Hogwarts school. So the continuation of lore building makes the storytelling smooth rather than reintroducing them in the sequel of the movie. In Prisoner of Azkaban, this is in the books but not in the movie, there is a match between Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff and if you remember in the movie Harry was outmaneuvered by the Hufflepuff seeker which was actually Cedric Diggory and if Cedric was not struck by lightning he would get the golden snitch, well Hufflepuff won that game because Harry fell of the broom because he was attacked by the dementors. It shows the competitive nature of Cedric Diggory and was further solidified in Goblet of Fire because Cedric was chosen as the Hogwart's Triwizard Champion defeating others in the list of would-be Hogwarts Champion. Also in book 3 of Harry Potter but not in the movie was the match between Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw, where Cho Chang was the Ravenclaw seeker and Harry was beginning to have a crush on her but was reintroduced in 4th movie of HP during the train scene. In the 2nd movie Hagrid was arrested because allegedly opened the Chamber of Secrets and in book 3 Azkaban was again in the story because a prisoner broke out of prison. Also in the 3rd movie Sirius Black was falsely accused of being a loyal follower of Voldemort and in the 4th movie, Death Eaters were introduced as the formal name of Voldemort's followers and if Voldemort has a following then the Dumbledore should have a following too thus introducing Order of the Phoenix in 5th movie. The list goes on and on as how a smoother storytelling and tiny or crucial detail could form a rounder and colourful story or else it could enrage or disappoint fans like some still felt about Ginny Weasley which some fans still felt was they did her dirty. Ginny was Harry's lover/partner and mother of James Sirius, Albus Severus and Lily Luna Potter and she was a badass in the books and joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a Chaser. Well enough of this essay type comment 😂, the question is would you remember some if not all the planted seeds/idea/detail in the first season of Percy Jackson 😉 and if you're wondering if the movie is good or bad. The movie of Percy Jackson is good alone but as a whole series of movies it's bad because of all the details removed. I was so impressed when I saw the movie in theaters in 2010 without prior knowledge of the books that it got me into reading the books but was disappointed when I read all of the books.

Oak! I can't believe you did Harry wrong like that! Fluffy guarded the entrance to the tests for the Philosopher's Stone, not the Chamber of Secrets. That entrance was in one of the girl's bathroom. Food for thought: Fluffy was on the third floor. When they jumped down the trap door . . . wouldn't that just put them on the second floor?

Hello! Great Video, this is a such a great series and books i’m excited for you guys to see the last episode. To answer diamond dave’s question at the end , Percy is stronger in water , i don’t believe he is supposed to be super strong. He is however, a demigod and has fighting instincts that common people don’t, it almost comes natural to him. Hope this helps, thanks!

Percy is the most powerful demigod to be born in quite some time. Once he realizes what he can do it's amazing. He even scares the gods. He has been mistaken for a God before.

He’s actually extremely strong he can actually be stronger than some of the regular gods with the exception being the big three that is why the pack was made between them because he’s a son of Poseidon he has control over the sea he can talk to horses and he’s a earth shaker and a storm bringer

Its very valid to question how powerful Percy is especially at this season. But this is his first forey into the world. He's only gonna get used to it. And I mean this is already impressive. Already, we see him heal himself in ep 2 which not a lot of demigods can do. In the books, he gets progressively better. The later books get a lot of action and he has his own witty way of dealing with monsters as well. With Percy as a character, we'll definitely get to know that dark side of him. And having read the books, next season we'll have more of that. You can anticipate that for this season finale as well! Does Percy know how capable he is with his powers? Well, he definitely improves by book 2. With how Percy channels his powers, he uses his emotions a lot to do that. It just comes naturally to him like he's one with the ocean. So maybe not really. But once he learns to accept that he is also Poseidon's son, he'll get even more powerful. And that's him not being fully aware. He does realize that later on in the books where he kinda lets it out accidentally by a cathartic release which led to him blowing an active volcano and waking up the one monster that the gods find so hard to deafeat sooo

Im sure cerberus would have been fine but i got worried when they threw the ball in the river cause all the rivers in the underworld has special and dangerous powers like the river lethe that can take away every memory with a single drop , or the river styx that kills any living thing ,for the most part is also the river the gods make their unbreakable pacts on , but fluffy is not mortal so its probably fine as long as it doesnt dip in the lethe , and it might be immune to that too who knows

I will say that I am a bit more in the middle ground for the first Percy Jackson movie. It left out a few parts of the book, but it was fine enough. The second movie is a complete mess and should definitely not be watched. It followed a pattern of other movie adaptations of book series (Series of Unfortunate events and Guardians of Ga'Hoole are two other examples) where they took the ending of a different book of the series and threw it onto the end. To make things worse, despite making the story end sooner than it should have, they still planned to continue making adaptations. As for this series, I enjoyed the first season. It's not perfect, but I still think it's pretty good. There are a couple areas where the characters already know the situation and explain it to the audience instead of the audience figuring it out with the characters, which feels like a telling not showing kind of situation. The two that come to mind are with Medusa and the Lotus Casino. In the case of Medusa, I can understand that the characters not picking up on Medusa immediately might feel a bit slow since Medusa is a more well known character. However, I think that the lotus flower situation is probably less known amongst the audience who hasn't already read the books and could have been more interesting seeing the characters and the audience piece together what was going on in the casino. (I actually like the movie's take on this scene better than the show's version)

As a massive fan of the books, it’s taken me a while to come to this opinion on the movies: they’re fun when viewed independently from the books but TERRIBLE adaptations.

Dark scenes in Movies / TV can be annoying ... Having the brightness 'all the way up' isn't always the best solution as it usually just dilutes the image making it even harder to see ... It's an easier fix for home viewers where we can simply alter the brightness and contrast to our own preference as well as watching it in a darkened room ... The fact that you're watching the dark scenes in a brightly lit studio is probably contributing to your difficulties being able to make out whats going on ... I guess that's just an unfortunate sacrifice you have to make being a reaction channel.
