Thats the type of barbershops I grew up with. It was a safe haven from the streets. You get all the news and words of wisdom. Even though it was in the hood all races and ages were welcome. Get all the bootleg music and movies etc.

Out of all of the Barbershop films, this is the classic one. This came out when I was 11. I couldn't even watch it at first since my parents told me it was too inappropriate for me lol. I see why because the scenes in this film are so enjoyable for the adults to watch. But it's a strong realistic picture of how it feels being in a black 💈 and the impact that they still have in not just urban communities like Chicago but all communities in general. Also @MJWITHOUTSPIDERMAN don't trash the actor who played the loan shark character that had the nice suits and hat. That is the legendary Keith David. He has acted for years. He was in that same film you watched called ATL. Watch it again if you can. You should watch the films Johnson Family Vacation and Kingdom Come. You'll enjoy those

I haven’t seen this movie in years but I used to love it as a kid! Fun facts: ✨This movie was filmed in the HOOD hood lol on the Southside of Chicago not far from where I grew up. ✨The stupid dude that stole the ATM & kept messing everything up is Larenz Tate’s brother & they’re from the Southside too! ✨The dude that kept coming in trying to sell stuff is comedian DeRay, also a Chicago native. ✨And Terri is played by one of my FAVORITE rappers Eve!! Can’t wait to see if you watch Barbershop part 2! && Beauty Shop w/ Queen Latifah, it’s kind of a spin-off from this movie series. Keep up the good work girl!💖

I wanna just say the Rosa parks scene was more about the fact people sat on the bus first in the front and was thrown in jail for it.... And majority were thrown in jail just to be thrown in jail... This movie is a classic comedy masterpiece. This movie is so much better than the sequels. Jimmy was an annoying idiot but it was also Terri and Ricky with their attitudes. I still love the movie because of the story and it has an amazing cast. The one thing I don’t understand is why Calvin keeps kicking out the hustle guy played by Deray Davis and why does he hate him so much. Just because you don’t like Jimmy doesn’t mean he needs to get fired because he’s still a good person. You need to shush because Jimmy is not a A hole, the guys who stole the ATM are.

So on the DVD for this movie, there's a trivia game about the movie and the history of barbers. One of the questions is "Who do YOU think drank Terri's apple juice?". If you select "D: None of the Above", you'll see a deleted scene that shows it was Eddie who drank it.

Actually Claudette Colvin refused to get out of her seat first ( I believe she was 15 at the time), but since she was darkskin and pregnant it didn't gain as much attention. The only reason Rosa's refusal gained so much attention is because she was eith the NAACP

This movie was controversial when it came out because of the things Cedric said about rosa parks and MLK alot of black civil rights groups were wanting a boycott of the movie and deleting the parts about them out of the movie completely.
