Love seeing more people viewing Voctave. They may never have the popularity of a Pentatonix, but the purity of the singing voices is exceptional. Check out their collaborations with Kirsten of PTX and with Mark Lowry for a couple of great listens.

This is the A Capella group where you can choose from their performances by throwing darts and invariably hit something truly beautiful.

Voctave is one of the few groups that can bring tears to my eyes when singing - not because they sing sad songs but because of the sheer beauty of their arrangements and love for music. It just moves you. Please react to more of their work! My top favorite pieces from them are Disney Showstoppers The Great Movie Medley Mary Did You Know O Come All Ye Faithful Joy To The World/For Onto Us A Child Is Born

You mentioned whistle tones in reference to Kate sailing over the ensemble in a few spots. Here's the crazy thing; it's not whistle. That's still her head voice. She's a legitimate coloratura soprano and sings above C in most of their pieces, with her highest note (in recording) in their rendition of Mary Did You Know.

Check out Voctave singing “Mary Did You Know” for non-stop goosebumps. I have seen many reactors cry tears of joy listening to it, it’s so beautiful.

HI Lauren, I just knew you would like this. The first time I heard Voctave was the song they did with Kristen of Pentatinox and I immediately thought "Laruen would love this" . You are very schooled and have a comprehensive understanding of all music that most of us do not have and for song to reach you actually says something. I know a little about Voctave . They do an amount of work with Disney World. They are from the Orlando area and the arranger is Jamie Rays. He is in the video on the left in the middle. From what I read about him , he is from the Clearwater , Fl area. I think he went to school at Rollins college in Orlando. It is a small college and I believe they hired him for the music dept. after he graduated. I will make a wild guess and think that this was shot at one of the music rooms at Rollins, Just a guess. There are 11 singers in this group. Everyone stays in tune, everyone one has perfect in sync timing with each other , The dynamics , perfectly synched. You are one of the few that actually realize how hard this. Wow Holy Cheese Muffins ! This is just insane good. I am really glad you enjoyed it. BTW, Pentatonix released a " 90's Dance Medley". That note Chrystal hits at the end of "I Know Where I've Been"... O. M. G. As I was listening, getting goosebumps as they built to the end, I was thinking "oh, no, she's not gonna go there" then BAM! I almost drove off the road. Amazeballs. Voctave is my hands down favorite group.

The first time I heard this it brought tears. Love you Lauren! Recommend Geoff Castelucci's Sixteen Tons, anything by Home Free, and VoicePlay's Moana and Little Mermaid medleys!

Voctave did a collaboration with mariachi Cobre

For something a bit different and to hear more of the men, Voctave's Disney Showstoppers Medley is great. Also the Disney Love Medley with Kirstin Maldonado (from Pentatonix) and Jeremy Michael Lewis is probably their most popular number.

Just so that you are aware, there seems to be a problem with this video. I first noticed that everything is pitched up slightly compared to the original. When I listened closer, it sounds like the whole thing is sped up slightly, which also accounts for the increased pitch. Just something to be aware of when doing the video editing.

Yes - it was up a half step. (I appreciate that you made sure it was actually a half step up, rather than arbitrarily raising the pitch as some others have done!) Pretty sure you can escape copyrighted claims even without changing the pitch.

I'm sorry to say but that was a very disappointing reaction. It's almost like you're listening to somebody singing Happy Birthday. And yeah, the video was high pitched and not in sinc with your reaction. I was disappointed because Voctave is probably the best Acapella group in the world and you listened as this was nothing. I don't know what that was but it didn't look genuine. Sorry, but that's just how I saw it.

I’ve seen other comments on KZread videos of reactions to Voctave, and someone mentioned how those are not whistle notes. They also wrote that it’s just a very high soprano voice. Honestly, I can’t tell anymore. 😂 Between Morissette Amin’s whistle notes, and other soprano singers, I honestly have a hard time with the differentiation occasionally.

I love Voctave. I so admire people who can sing. I sound sort of like Miss Piggy after she gargles with Draino and is singing off-key. Can't sing a lick, but wish I sounded like one of these ladies!

Lauren, knowing Kate's name leads me to believe that the "Disney Princess Medley" was not really your first time listening to Voctave. In any case, when this was released in May of 2017, there were 11 members of the Voctave ensemble. In your reaction to the "Disney Love Medley, there were only 8 members present. That song was released in early 2015.

You should really treat yourself to Haley Reinhart (semifinalist on American Idol waaay back) withe Post Modern Jukebox doing "Creep" (Radiohead) or "Seven Nation Army" (White Stripes). Also, Voiceplay's "Oogie Boogie's Song" (Nightmare Before Christmas)

Has the video been altered? It sounds a bit higher than the original and I have heard this at least 100 times watching all of the different reactions to it.

Fun fact for Sarah - she's actually a fairly low alto. She's brightening and lightening her voice for the part of Ariel here. Otherwise, her more natural solo voice is more of a lower jazz alto.

I still believe Sarah is a mezzo singing low alto parts and she is nowhere near a contralto voice (if we talk faching). The same goes with Chrystal, spinto soprano with great lows.

I find it hard to classify Sarah as she’s modifying her tone all the time. She could really be either. But I do think that Chrystal’s voice sits higher naturally. Chrystal used to sing with the Gaithers and she appears on some of their Gaither Homecoming DVDs under a different name (Chrystal Washington I believe). I’ve heard her do full-on chesty F#5 before. Kinda nuts. She’s like a mix of Vanessa Amorosi and Mariah Carey with some Ella Flitzgerald in there.
