Ikr! I don’t love it the first time I tried it but it wasn’t because of the texture at all I was okay with the texture, but the taste wasn’t the best to me. Been wanting to try it as the last time I had it was 5 or 6 years ago and my taste buds have changed a lot. Honestly I really find people who care so much about the texture fussy and picky. Picky eaters annoy me lowkey as I’m a huge foodie and will eat anything

Yess natto smells like coffee! That was my response when i first tasted natto too! I love natto and always have a few packets in my freezer hhahah. The one I buy has the natto sauce (soy sauce based i guess) + mustard paste. Natto bean itself tastes bland, but with the sauce packet, it tastes heavenly and nutty. It is good when eaten with rice or vegetables (lettuce). Natto bean is one of the best fermented food I've eaten, probably as gd as kimchi and tempeh ❤️❤️

@@mrclean3088 I actually had to eat another packet of natto beans to recall the flavor before I could tell you, so I'm sorry I took so long to reply you :-) the mustard sauce (Japanese yellow mustard) is mildly spicy and slightly bitter? The soya sauce and mustard sauce packets come in every natto bean packets. It's up to you if you want to add any of them but I do recommend using both sauces on natto, savory and spicy 😋 Try it, and maybe you'll like it hahah 👍

Taste is OK but the texture is a huge no for me. This sliminess combined with the beans that have no firmness whatsoever makes some kind of a stringy sticky purée which doesn't make a palatable texture for me. But however, I have to say, I like Korean black natto. The beans are firmer, which makes a more interesting balance with the sliminess. The taste is also more aged, more mature, I think it's better. Try it if you have the occasion!
