Queen was and has remained one of my favorite bands, and Bohemian Rhapsody will always be a classic. I've heard other people mention that Hi Ren reminds them of it. That said, I think Hi Ren has a more meaningful and important message, if one looks at such things. Both are masterworks of their generation.

I don't know why, but the partial yodel at the beginning that is more subdued and the final yodel that is untethered makes me think of a caged bird's song that is beaten and worn down, without hope of ever flying free because the cage is all he knows. By the end the cage is open and the bird soars into the sky singing at the top of his lungs, full of hope, no longer constrained by sadness. It literally gives me a picture in my brain. The music on its own, without words, tells a story. Amazing artistry. The most profound works of art are based in human misery, human spirit and resilience. Truly.

The sea shells on the sea shore line is actually a reference to one of his earlier songs. Worth checking out Money game Part 1 & 2 and of course his 3 tales.

Part of Money game Part 2 (starting from She sells sea shells) was taken and memed by someone, you can youtube it "luigi talks about sea shells" . I'm pretty sure Ren's hand movement is a reference to it. That meme kind of brought a bunch of views to Money Game part 2, hence "Pinnacle of your success". Anyways, I'm so happy that there are lots of people reacting "Hi Ren" and bringing more organic traffic to it!

Found Ren three months ago and haven't stopped looking for his music he is a force of nature so diverse from old school hip hop (what you want) to ballads and deep lyrics that make you think laugh and cry so so talented. Dominos gets me every time and the trilogy of Jenny and Screech (full), children of the moon has a ska vibe. Great reaction ✌️❤️ THE WORLD NEEDS MORE REN.

Ren is not duel personality he is having a conversation between his ego and his shadow see Carl Jung at the end of the story he combines the best attributes of both and becomes a more complete person

Very rare a real talent will come along with a uniqueness that stands out with a glow only a star has. I am a HOG fan and Tom will always be my number one BUT this guy has my total respect because the talent is beyond mere words. His songs The Jenny and Screech Tale (full version) along with Chalk Outlines and Crutch are worth every second. Another independent who can rap rap, sing, act, story-tell, write and play almost any instrument you give him is absolutely priceless. I love this artist and he has seriously earned the title ARTIST. Thanks for sharing another one of his masterpieces. 🙏🏽🤟🏽👏🏽

Awesome reaction. I’ve listened to this so many times and it hits hard every time. Watch it again so you can appreciate it even more. Initially he is defensive and argues with his “shadow” side and tries to make it see reason. It escalates because no matter what you can’t out talk your own inner shit talker. Once he gets that there is no obliterating this shit talker without obliterating himself, he begins integration ; the acceptance of one’s darkness as well as the light. You hear it in the second “hi Ren”… I feel like this is when he accepts that light means dark, inside means outside, up means down… and that he has to accept the dark sides of himself and his experience in order to reach the light. And he acts and sings and plays it out to its fullest. So much in this video. I just love him.

Suffering myself from double depression, depersonalization, anxiety disorder and a chronical pain disorder (e.g. 20+ days with headaches / month) for decades by now I feel so connected to Ren and this masterful piece of art he created and gave us. I wish I could hear the hope side stronger or at all. But he gives hope to hear hope some day.

Great summation. Welcome to exploring the rabbit warRen that is Ren's world. He's become a Warrior of Light against the Darkness, as he prophesised aged 17 and opened a Portal which is allowing people to step into the Light, exploring themselves and the human psyche and having discussions, revealing their own "flaws" and vulnerabilities where before it felt so unsafe with such stigma attached apart from to only a handful of those closest to us and our therapist's/medicators. my connection to this song is only the similarity of struggle,, i'm undiagnosed autistic and have struggled with being a bit weird my whole life i had to start my own business because i had problems holding a job with sleep disorders and high ethics.. but managed to stay in business the last 40 years without needing to advertise or even carry a card, i run a lawn and tree service, a 1st responder thru 40 years of hurricanes in fla ,and do all phases of construction and kind of an inventor on the side, after six years of development i figured out a disaster response product that could help millions worldwide .. then my insurance agent forgot to post a payment back in 2020 and the state took everything i worked the last 40 years for away .. stuck at home like a prisoner i came online and saw people helping others so i started making videos explaining what i was. trying to do to get help, and found out if the platform your uploading to doesn't promote you your just talking to your phone, and then i see stuff like this and get jealous because i will never write a song that gets peoples attn like this. so my chances of bringing my ideas to the world are fading. and it's scary as hell to think of all that could be, but it may all be lost because one person forgot to hit enter on there keyboard.. and my chances of succeeding alone are close to those of getting out of quicksand alone..

Reminds me of a mix between Hendrix, Eminem and Edgar Allen Poe!! The guy is, simply put, a genius!

Best part is I'm pretty sure this was filmed live. The masterful guitar playing, the voice modulation between the two Rens, this isn't something you can record in a studio and then go lip-sync a music video for it. I think you can see the microphone attached to his gown collar. Which means he filmed this whole thing live in one shot. That's unbelievable. And it's so uniquely HIM. No one can cover this, how could or would they?

An artist. My take, never give up. There is always Joy.

Not a song , a social therapy.

Ren shines a light into many topics society turns a blind eye to. He encourages open conversations and healing. He speaks for the meek and the unseen, as he was for almost a full decade.

To me, it's self talk, which we all do. Yes, it gets deeper and goes off in another direction, but self talk can be destructive.

Awesome reaction y’all!! Something that y’all said after the song was over resonated.. “after 10 years of issues and battling it, to get past it and now THIS..” It reminded me of those of us in recovery (a great percentage of which deal with mental health issues) who will openly share that we “don’t regret the past or wish to shut the door on it.” Why? 1. Because our past is what makes us who we are today. 2. Our past is to be learned from by being thoroughly worked through to make us better people. 3. By doing so, it makes more relatable to those who are struggling and/or are still in active addiction. 4. Being relatable and understanding is key to being able to serve others. 5. It is by serving others; by “giving it away”, that we’re able to maintain sobriety and good mental health. What Ren has done with his song/work here is; to me, giving of himself, serving countless others with his message of hope by telling his story. It’s an important, incredible and powerful work of art he’s made and I’m thankful for him and his message.🙏🏻

I'm 46 and I've never been much of a musical person, but in the past 5 years there have been two artists that have truly touched my soul and altered my life and my perceptions of myself and the world. Ren is the second. I listen to this song at least once a day and its never less emotional for me than it was the first time. His battle with managing the light and darkness that resides in us all is extremely relatable and powerful. He makes me feel like the fight against my inner demons is worth waging. I CAN win! The first artist was BTS. I found them almost 6 years ago, when I was trying to decide if I wanted to live or not, they took my hand and taught me to love myself. Since I've only just now found your channel and I don't know what music you're into I'm afraid to suggest a song by them. Their music covers every genre you can imagine (kpop is NOT a genre and BTS is NOT kpop), but the love yourself series (3 albums) was what really saved me. Ren put out a version with the three tales combined called Jenny and Screech’s Tale (full) it includes violets tale at the end. Such a magical dark journey awaits! One of my favorite tracks that is so poignant and again raw and vulnerable is How to be Me with Chinchilla (Live) it is another must listen track as are so many

Everytime it's another completely different tune with insane talent in either rapping , lyrics , guitar , singing , storytelling, compoaition or more commonly all of the above. Generational talent is an understatement as a description for ren.

I didn't understand the movie "Birdman" until I watched an interview with the director who said "Everyone gets into those arguments with themselves. We all have that voice inside our heads who tell us one moment how awesome we are one moment and how worthless and pathetic we are the next." This performance reminds me of that a lot.

You have to understand this brought me and many many many people to tears listening to it it is beyond anything I have heard or listened to in this day and age it is raw is real it is and so show it will always be cuz you can't get rid of it it will not die he lives in the internet forever and it is powerful
