Although I’ve been riding for years, I enjoyed watching this video because you’re showing what everybody goes through in the early stages of riding. Btw, I also totally agree that everyone tries to act casual with a cop around even though we’re really only focused on what the cop is doing. 😆 Keep up the good work.

while you're learning to rev match, slowly releasing the clutch rather than dumping it will be the best way to avoid that lurch that everyone is afraid of at first, with more practice you'll start letting it out faster and faster and caring about the now-rare lurching less and less

The way i do it: Clutch, downshift, throttle, slowly release clutch. I've seen some people doing throttle first then downshift, but i feel the rpm's go down a lot by the time i release the throttle if i do it that way. Nice videos, awesome bike

This probably sounds dumb. I started riding in 2020 and a BMW with a quick shift on the shifter and that bike is my first and only bike. Ive always relied on that quick shifter, never really learned how to shift manually. That being said isn't it clutch in, blip the throttle + downshift, then throttle, then let the clutch out? You skip the blip?

@@DropoutJerometotally need to flip the throttle. Maybe I didn't explain myself well on my comment but yeah, before releasing the clutch you need to apply some throttle, that's what matches the rpm

I'm here from your post on Reddit Entertaining video, funny commentary. It's cool to see videos where the person isn't afraid to show their mistakes; helps to show that riders don't just start off perfect. I'm new too(about 300 miles ridden so far on an mt07) and this makes me feel a bit better about my own difficulties with riding; just gotta keep practicing. You got a new subscriber 👍

@@tairamosmoto no problem man! Thanks! I really love the bike but honestly I think starting on a smaller bike is definitely the best choice; it'll forgive your mistakes a lot more than a bigger one. If I were to do it over I'd probably start off with an MT 03 first and then upgrade to the 07 when I got really good at riding. I spent hours just practicing in a parking lot at first because the power and weight of the bike got me pretty nervous.(I remember the first day I was like "ease out the clutch, no throttle; see where it stalls" and was surprised the bike could go up to about 20 mph just by easing out the clutch!) And I'm still making mistakes; just yesterday I dropped it going really slow in traffic(5 to 10 mph) ; couldn't keep the bike up once it started tipping over. Was really embarrassed but I just calmly got up, turned off the ignition, picked it up, got right back in the seat and continued my ride. Looking forward to seeing more videos dude!

When I first started riding (on a dirtbike) I had a huge problem with downshifting.... stalled MANY times riding in the desert (Ocotillo Wells) because I was going too slow for the gear I was in. Loved the video and seeing the progression!! Also love seeing more of your personality come out! I know others have commented but I like to slowly release the clutch instead of dropping it, especially as a beginner. Gives me more control over that "lurch" that you get if you don't get it timed perfectly. You're already getting the hang of it!

I forget this is an issue for people who never learned to drive in a Manual. My first car was a Manual, 70% of my cars have been manual, I prefer Manual. It was just part of learning how to drive, and being into Rallying made it essential! Balls are cool, just ask a Harley rider and they will tell you they love playing with Balls. Crazy? probably just low on blood sugar levels, stop and have a full sugar energy drink... It stops the brain from having to overload on the serotonins it produces to stay alert.

yeah im trying to learn rev matching at the moment too. the problem is i only get time to ride on saturdays because of my job. so once i get the hang of something i pretty much have to relearn it the next weekend. woo. luckily enough i work for an engineering firm and one of our sites is less than a mile away from my house and its been completely paved but its also closed down. so i just go there to practice and goof off while my buddies film me struggling. lol. also, i noticed as you kept missing it, you started to get frustrated. my one buddy told me that once that starts to happen, just stop trying for a bit and do something else for a minute that you already have down. itll help rebuild confidence and cool you down. it definitely helped me get the hang of things. just food for thought.

Please don’t roll stops, cars do that and you don’t want to meet those. For riding, smooth with your controls, you are dumping the clutch on the down shift, slower is smoother. Aim to always stop in first gear, you can pull the clutch in and go all the way to first gear without releasing the clutch. This would have solved your issue where you were in fourth gear going ip a hill. Also, enter your turns slow, don’t rush them.

Round about ruin the flow? they create better flow than any other kind of intersection. Traffic lights with messed up Phasing ruin the flow, and often are deliberately set so deter people from using a particular road they have no choice but to use and create a massive amount of congestion for no reason other than to make people use local government owned public transport for the financial gain!
