Hi chris! Question from the Ado community: are you planning on going to one of her shows in America? You probably already know she's doing a world tour, and it would be sick to see just randomly pop up at one of the concerts!

Hi! Could you react to "Fleeting lullaby" or "Bocca della verita" by Ado? I think it would be very exciting and interesting to analyze the variety of vocal recourses that she used in the song!!

Seeing Ado live was the best experience I had in my life when it comes to music. I've been to so many concerts bigger and smaller but for some reason Ado's concert was so special, I can't even describe it. I can still hear her voice in my head, feel it in my bones, hear the crowd chanting and singing along to every song even though we don't speak the language.. Amazing.

She is a special person, and there are many people who couldn't see her because they didn't have the money. There are also people who went even if they had the money but couldn't get a ticket. You should have a talent that is unique to you. And that should come out in your spirit and in your future self and become a weapon. Good luck.

I didn't understand why this song was so good until I watched this video. Really, since it was released I couldn't stop listening to it. In the first 4-5 days I listened to it more than 20 times. Now I get it. The subtleties, the grooviness, the amazing way her voice goes along with the rhythm and the lyrics. The contrast she puts in her phrasing and notes. It's majestic. Thanks for the video, I'mma listen to it 3 or 4 more times and cry or something like that, this is beautiful

I attended ado's concert in Düsseldorf on the 16th. It was the BEST time of my life and it was my FIRST EVER concert. During the entire time of the first song "shinjidai" (New Genesis) i was bawling my eyes out as the realization set in that i'm ACTUALLY there. I was attending the concert with 2 friends (one that flew over from romania to germany JUST for this concert) and it was SUCH a great time. Seeing AND HEARING her live was such an out of this world experience it felt (and still feels) unreal. It's gonna be burned into my memory as a core memory for the rest of my life.

Was there as well. Can't believe my unreasonably high expectations got blown out of the water like that. I was jumping and singing along a lot in the warm merchandise hoodie and was pretty sweaty already, but when Tot Musica came on, I had such an intense goosebump that my wet hair was standing up straight (had the sleeves pulled back). I was also pretty hyped for Aishite as it already was one of my favourite tracks and was really looking forward to how that song would translate to and feel in a live setting, but damn, she hit it out of the ballpark with that performance. 12/10 experience, will do everything to see her live again.

@@SinceroOdioWhen the crowd went wild during Usseewa, show and ESPECIALLY on her last encore song "odo" i just couldn't help myself anymore. The moodswitch when "Staywith me" came on and the crowd just raised the hands started waving was SOOO incredible as well. Overall just an incredible experience that i would give EVERYthing for to relieve time and time again.

I love your advice about lack of judgement and being silly with singing. I always believed I couldn't sing because as a child I had to sing as part of my dance lessons. We were never taught how to sing. We were just judged on not hitting the right notes. I didn't realise just how much this affected my self belief. Ive been practising singing and screaming into my pillow recently and its been so freeing and makes me so happy. Thank you so much Chris.

Thank you very much for your analysis of Japanese Rock...! When you sing at karaoke, remember Chris's video and sing and my voice become better. As a Japanese person, if you mention "growl and rasp" among Japanese singers, I would like you to analyze the voice of Yusuke Chiba, the vocalist of thee Michelle Gun Elephant/the birthday. For many Japanese rock fans, Yusuke Chiba was, like Chris Cornell, the initial impulse that introduced them to the appeal of growl, rockabilly, and grunge. Chiba passed away at the end of last year, and rock fans across Japan paid their respects. I want people overseas to know about his existence and voice.

There is even more to Ado if you understand Japanese even a little bit. One example is right in the first verse, where the lyrics on the screen say: "望んでる顔出るまで捲るのやっぱり終わり" or in romanized form "nozonderu kaderu made mekuru no yappari owari" "やっぱり" or "Yappari" is supposed to have a glottal stop but what Ado does is she almost abandons that in favour of flow. It's a very minor detail, I am fully aware. It is kind of cool to me though.

I find it very interesting that whenever we think of popular pop singers (even tho they might be world's apart in style and expression) I feel like the way Ado modulates her breathing specially in her more powerful voicings is very similar to Shakira, and being from Colombia myself I sometimes underestimate that trait of her voice which makes her so distinctive, needless to say Ado gets that to a whole new level changing her voice length and air compression like it was a ride in the park

Ado's my favourite artist and this is probably my favourite song, though her songs are so wildly different from each other it always depends on my mood a little bit. I loved to hear you break down all the subtleties of Value. Now I can actually explain to myself why it's so good in it's groovyness and the push/pull of the rhythm and just the whole flow of the song really. Thank you for doing value! Actually, for me this song has the most "hard to understand" liryc of all Ado songs (in Japanese). In fact there were discussions among fans when it was released. So I intended to perceive the meaning pury from her vocal cause her voice always conveys every story and emotions. I was surprised when you mentioned about the consonant cause lately she said she had learned different ways to use the consonants for different expressions. You always point out the right place to admire her efforts and subtle but great expressions.

this is what I've been searching for ever since Value came out, i noticed immediately just from the first note she sung that this is different, this is deeper both literally in her range and the meaning behind the lyrics from her other songs. the way her voice flows back and forth is far far too echanting in this song. and it's very sad not as many ppl loving this piece as her other more energetic one, so thank you so much

I keep learning from your reactions how to better understand her techniques alongside just agreeing with you and listening to someone who understands her kind of music. As mentioned in a comment on another Ado video, some songs that I would love for you to react to would be Fleeting Lullaby, Buriki no Dance and Villain, where Villain would be my highest recommendation! New interview Ado for jrocknews. - Tell us a little bit about your newest song Value and what it means to you! It is written, composed and arranged by POLICE PICADDILY, a Vocaloid producer. Although Value may seem new to everyone, to me, it is a song that makes me feel as if the wind is caressing my heart, and I have a nostalgic feeling for the days when I was aiming for my dreams. I think you can feel the freshness and sadness in this song. I sang it without decorating [too much] and tried to express my feelings in a straightforward manner.

I suggest listening to 'Missing'(yukue shirezu). This song was provided by Ringo Shiina to ado. Ringo Shiina is a famous singer-songwriter in Japan, and the songwriting of ”Crime and Punishment”. And she is the artist who influenced ado the most.

On a sidenote, saw one of Rick Beato's recent video was about how pathetically bad today's (western) lyrics are, and I thought maybe he should check out Japanese music. All the artists you've checked on your channel: One Ok Rock, Ado, LiSA, to most Jpop top hits, J-Metal/Rock, or even cutesy songs written for kids, usually have well written lyrics. It's simply how Japanese songwriting works. From the singer's voice, to instrument choices, chord progression and lyrics, everything needs to be aligned to convey certain feelings I'm glad you decided to check this song's lyrics too. Value is definitely the grooviest in Ado's catalogue, and she showed yet again she can sing just about anything and still sound good. Like some other people have suggested here, next should be Ado's Fleeting Lullaby, or something different like Creepy Nut's Bling-Bang-Bang-Born (First Take ver.) or Coldrain's Mayday which I feel is something you'd really like. Cheers!

yeah for groove western music might won more hearts since it's more approachable to listen, but song isn't just about the instrument and voice to carry it own, the story must also be the leading posture

I’m not an expert at all, and I don’t have much insight other than an ear for music, but it seems in this last song her voice has become more refined and stronger than before. She’s 21 after all, but it seems that by the age of 21 only the voice is fully formed?

Hi chris, one of ado song that you also need to turn on the subtitle is "gira gira". Because it describes what kind of person ado is. For example : she felt as an ugly person as if God made her with His left hand. Which maked her feel insecure with her appearance. That song makes us a Little bit of understanding how ado feel as a person / singer
