He had a dark, mean side though too. It was probably the booze that made him beligerant. The man treated his body like a science experiment. He was one of the most legendary drummers but also one of the most legendary party animals in rock history. He was infamous for trashing hotel rooms and passing out on stage during their concerts Ironically, he died from a drug that was supposed to help him get clean.

Can't believe you have not heard this, was a huge hit and another tune absorbed into pop culture. She is quite correct. This is a great tune but to hear them in their most intense, try them from Live at Leeds, do My Generation, They are at their very best, building into furious jams and Pete Townsend has some of the best leads in Rock History in that jam. They are just possessed and playing like their lives were on the line. Check it out and Rock On! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

The Who - Grandfathers of hard rock. You should check out some of their early live performances. Most anything from their Live at Leeds album - one of the greatest live albums ever, or if you like it even heavier, check out their Woodstock performance. NO band played with more power and force at that time.

For close to 35 years this song was played on our city's radio stations (those were a thing, kids) and never did anyone complain about the 2 F bombs dropped during the song. But thank God the Morality Police stepped in.......and in the nick of time, too it seems.

This song was epic when I was growing up and set the tone for a slightly angrier generation. The original version didn't edit the "who the f**k are you" line either. Kieth was literally a savage unstable drummer.

Peter is much less animated on the guitar here than he would be in a live concert. He was well-known for his acrobatic jumping and "windmill" action in stroking the chords very violently, so violently he often broke guitar strings and even cut his hand on occasion. Keith's a friggin' wild man drummer, and Peter once called him "a master of mayhem" for the way he'd trash out hotel rooms during their concert tours.

People assume televisions are bolted down in motel rooms to safeguard against theft...wrong. That originated as a safeguard against TVs being chucked out windows, Moon style. The man was a beast. The true archetype of Rock n Roll.🥁🩷
