Another Brick In The Wall is also a movie to the album
This song is off the concept album, "Operation: Mindcrime" where a young man w drug and mental health problems gets convinced to join a shadowy operation and is brainwashed to commit assassinations. The lyrics are talking about how he barely recognizes himself after being indoctrinated into the group, and when looking into the mirror, all he sees are the eyes of a stranger he once knew. Incredible band, incredible singer, incredible record.

@@BisscuteReacts In addition to what Stephen said above, the lyrics that the young man, named "Nikki", is singing/saying are while he lies in a mental hospital after his arrest and prosecution. This is the last song on the concept album "Operation:Mindcrime" which came out in 1988. Overall, the album itself is quite a fascinating piece of work. I encourage you to look up the album on Wikipedia. There is a synopsis of the entire story that this album tells. I also encourage you listen to the whole album at one sitting while following along with the lyrics. I really hope you do! There are other videos of other songs from this album as well. There is another album, "Operation:Mindcrime II" that came out in 2006 as a sequel to this story in which the death of Mary is made clear. Lastly....you're beautiful! 😊

I love watching younger people appreciating the music I grew up on. The artists of the time were just willing to try more. Of course that means lots of practice so it just seemed more passionate. As for what I thought when I first heard that song... well I had the album, so I was aware of the story at that point. Love your reaction.
About the lyrics, the whole album tells a full story, the whole 15 tracks form 1 single big story, and it's a damn masterpiece. Queensryche is one of those god-like underestimated founder bands who just established or reimagined a whole genre with their work.

@@BisscuteReacts DA!!!!!!!!!! Is one of the greatest albums of all time....
Personally my introduction to Queensryche was Jet City Woman. Probably the most "entry level" song they ever did. Overall one of the greatest, and to this day criminally underrated, bands of all time.
One of the defining prog rock/metal albums of the late 80s. You could do a long-form live stream of listening to this and get a lot from it. Timelessly perfect album. Those of us who were teenagers when it was released have it etched into our souls. They were never better than this. "I remember now"

I felt so lucky to see Queensryche perform in Sacramento back in 1992. They did the innovative Concert in the Round format which meant the audience entirely surrounded them (I only saw Metallica do that before them). They played the ENTIRE Operation Mindcrime album on this tour. SO good. OH SO good. The hiLARious outcome - but also sympathetic feels - was that at this show on the basis of the beautiful "Silent Lucidity" (track from EMPIRE) was there were thousands of young mothers with their 6-12 year old daughters who came to swoon over Geoff Tate's melodic vocals. [Let that sink in about what the entire album with video-synchronization would do to those little minds.] 30 years later, young women in their 30s/40s have been mentally scarred, molded and formed into the Tenacious Feminists from their (for many that I knew there) FIRST concert experience, and that paralyzed their souls for a whole year. ;)

I’ll be there with bells on for this one! Such a great band, great song and probably the greatest concept album of all time
You can see this album as a rock opera, every song tells a part of the story and every song is superb. The album is recorded in 1987 and '88.
Each song leaves you wanting more but the whole album tells the story
Brilliant song from a brilliant concept album, its easier to understand what is going on with the lyrics and the video if you listen to the whole album and it all becomes clear. Operation Mindcrime is still one of my favourite albums 35 years later. Nice reaction too!

Jet City Woman, Walk In The Shadows, I Dont Believe In Love, Take Hold Of The Flame are 4 great Queensryche songs
The album was released in 1988. My first impression? Pure dynamite. Musicianship at a whole other level. Lighning in a bottle. Best concept album ever. One of the finest recordings ever from any genre.
I saw them play this entire album live here in the U.K. and it is a masterpiece.
Some of the BEST music in the last 100 years came out of the 80s.....and it warms my heart to see the younger generations digging the hell out of the same music I dug the hell out of back in the 80s.
This record, this band, this singer....as great as it gets
just a complete masterpiece of music and album , Queensryche are superb this concept album is awesome from beginning to end , Goeff Tates voice is out of this world great
I throughly enjoy watching a younger generation react to Queensryche the same way i did when i first heard them back in the 80's!
Oh heck yeah! That whole album is a "rock opera". I was lucky enough to see them live on this tour as they were opening for Metallica and then again on the tour for the next album Empire when they were headlining. So good. "I don't believe in love" is another good one from that album. this band blew the doors down for melodic prog rock it still sounds fresh today as it did in 87 they previewed this album at an end of the dial radio program called brain pain the the dj's were falling over themselves at how amazing this album was...they played the whole da,m thing and i bought it 2 weeks later that's how new it was
Jet City Women & Empire need to be heard 🤘✌️
This is from their Operation Mindcrime album, released in 1988. THIS WAS THE FIRST SONG BY THEM I'D EVER HEARD!!! It was on MTV (back when they actually had music videos) and it struck me through to my soul. Bought the tape a few days later, listened to it all, realized the incredible story it told, and loved it ever since. Obsessed over QR's albums for over 20 years, sang every single song from their self-titled demo album all the way to Mindcrime probably 500 times. Geoff Tate was unknowingly my vocal coach for over 2 decades, and I do not regret it. :D
Great song and album love me some Queensryche
I hope "silent Lucidity" from them is one that will you will review as well in the near future, I promise you will love it

Operation: Mindcrime is a concept album and you need to listen to it from the beginning. Excellent album
Geoff Tate’s voice makes a grown man cry. My favorite thing about reactions to this (and many other Queensryche songs) is watching someone’s face hearing his voice for the first time in a verse...and I’m like, “just wait until you hear the chorus or her Tate slay an E9”. One of the absolute best live shows I’ve seen.
Queensryche is one of my most favorite bands from the 80's. i recommend I don't believe in love, it's from the same album and it'll give you more of the story.

I was never super familiar with Queensryche. I knew of them, and probably a few of their songs, but not a lot. Don't think I really knew this one, but they did have a song and music video in the 90s that was pretty big on MTV at one point called "Silent Lucidity", that I've always loved. Biggest Queensryche fan you will find. Listen to this whole album. Start to finish. I do not want to spoil it if you have not. Ive seen them live probably 30 times. They are amazing. My absolute favorite band. But listen to this album. Then check out Empire album, and songs like Della Brown, Out of Mind, Promised land and I will Remember. You will see how good he really is as a singer.
I saw this band play live at the Hammersmith Odeon. They were just about to release their next album, so played a bunch of their new stuff. Then about halfway through the gig they stopped. "We know what you want", he cried. Then they played 'Operation Mindcrime' from start to finish. All the tracks, live. One of the best gigs I have ever been to. Mindblowingly good.
I guess I was really lucky, my first exposure to this song and really Queensryche was actually the tour they did when they released the album operation mindcrime 2 which is the sequel to the album that this song was on. So my first exposure was them performing both albums on stage with a full stage production.

I was a teenager when Mindcrime came out. I already liked Queensryche, but Mindcrime was on a whole different level. I started playing it and kind of fell into a trance, listened to the entire album straight through. I never did that, I would usually listen a few songs at a time when I bought a new album. Kids today just have to imagine it, but back then you didn't get to listen to the whole thing on the internet before you decided to buy or not. At most you would hear one or two singles released to the radio stations, and of course frequently those were the only good songs on the album, so if you had limited funds you had to be selective. I liked Queensryche enough that I bought it before I heard any of the songs. Bottom line, it was a near religious experience. The story itself didn't really do anything for me at that age, but the music was incredible. Every song is a masterpiece. It's one of the few albums from that time in my life that I still listen to regularly, and if anything I appreciate it even more now.
I was seriously gonna suggest you react to their song Silent Lucidity!!!! Looking forward to this one!
