what's amazing is that in the MV, hanja 解禁 was on the screen which = haegeum, in terms of "to lift a ban" not 奚琴 = haegeum the instrument. WHICH MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE because the lyrics talk a lot about judgement, prejudice, and being free from all that. something about it is so raw, and honestly, i feel like it's a big fu to those who try to "cancel" grown idols for doing something normal humans do, like him "smoking" in the MV or just dating, or any issues some fans can't accept. "This song is a haegeum" meaning this song is targeting kpop "fans" who always make a big deal out of things that are not even supposed to be controversial HE'S SO ICONIC FOR THIS

The second meaning of haegeum is the lifting of the ban of something forbidden. Adding what I think the story is based on things I’ve heard from other reactors...commentaries and what he said in the d-day documentary. First of all he did say in his intro of the video during the premiere that this video is the second of a trilogy. He said the three videos meant to be seen together is Daechwita, haegeum and amygdala ...which is coming up! So I believe the king in Daechwita, the first form of august D, was killed by black haired scar face agust D. But then black hair becomes the boss in Haegeum. He seems to be a police detective or officer that is corrupt. He runs his operation from above the Asian noodle restaurant. New Agust d wants to kill him too! Maybe like in Daechwita it’s because of his corruption. So he invades the headquarters and gets his money. On his way out we see a guy making a phone call to the boss...but new agust d gives him a nod. So I think just like in Daechwita new agust d has a deal with this insider to help him kill the boss. So this new guy didn’t really want the money it was just a bait to get him close to the boss. So like in Daechwita, as he was about to be killed he switches the story and kills the Boss instead. Before the boss gets shot we see the boss smirk. I saw a comment that this could be because he knows that this New guy will also meet his fate! So in the end new guy was accepted by the boss’ men and he was delivered to their headquarters the restaurant where he takes over. The final Shot of him eating with the tool he used to kill a man suggests that the violence will sustain him. So now we will wait for amygdala to see how the story ends! So the song itself was explained by Suga in the documentary. He explains that as idols there are a lot of things they seem to be restricted from doing, acts that are normal for some will become controversies for idols. Like if his smoking at the age of 31 will be seen as wrong then he wants this song to be the start of liberating or lifting some of the restrictions put on them. He also talked about the effect on too much information and how easy to get them also starts to restrict thinking. It’s a very deep song! The funny thing is...this song has triggered a bit of hate from kpop on social media! Fans of other groups are thinking Yoongi was targeting them...or even saying he shouldn’t be against capitalism since he is from Hybe! Lol totally missing the point of the song...or maybe just proving Yoongi’s observations! He’s a genius! The rest of the album is genius! I hope you do an album reaction!

A couple of things nobody talks about: When he grabs the chopsticks from the man, at the table next to the couple, there is a woman sitting alone facing the street who looks at him when he runs upstairs. At the end when he returns in the police car... Maybe he is actually an undercover agent taking care of corruption inside the police? Even if the henchmen from corrupt police Yoongi are on their side, those henchmen aren't policemen (or at least not all). Anyway, he sits at the table where the woman was, but opposite side and looks at the camera as if he were sitting with someone. Could that woman represent ARMY? As there was 1 woman in Daechwita? (when he takes the key cars) Anyway, good summary. Blond Yoongi= 2015 one Scarred black hair Yoongi = up to 2020 No scar Yoongi (free, but not self indulgent?) = present Yoongi As he said... to Namjoon, he has cycles in his life when depression and anxiety come for a visit, so even if this is a trilogy, the end it's still open as you mentioned, since corrupt Yoongi smiles before dying, knowing the cycle will appear at some moment in the future. My personal thoughts and experience, I do hope that in his 30s he gets all that tamed down as the turbulence settles.

I see it that the rebel Agust D from Daechwita (black hair and scar) has been corrupted by power and is now killed by a new Agust D (no scar). Overall, I think Yoongi is showing that Agust D is transforming more and more into his true self. And at the end of the trilogy, Agust D has healed, and we're left with the real Min Yoongi. But that's just my theory. I'm really interested to see the Amygdala video, which he said follows this and is so emotional and beautiful.

I can and will spend so many hours absorbing how brilliant this all is. They layers of meaning in this. He is the only producer, writer, he came up with all the ideas for the mv like he did for Daechwita. A visual story teller. And don’t forget his acting too (such a liner saying he can’t act!).

Blonde August d is blonde and dead 😂 and also a king, this one is a detective and has a scar so it’s possible that this is the black hair agust d in Daechwita. No scar is the new agust d or just suga/yoongi. AMYGDALA MV will close the trilogy

My thoughts aren't that well organized but here I go: (only my theories/ideas) This is definitely related to daechwita like you mentioned, in both there is an authority figure (king/police) that have gone corrupt (king killing his own subjects/police that is involved with mafia and blinded by money) and a lower-class figure go against them (having 6 other people on their side). Lower class person seeking change/ angering the authority person get caught. They get tortured. While high authority person gives orders to their people to k'll the rebel/ who went against the system seeking more justice, the people that are supposed to get rid of the rebel switching sides and the authority person gets shot. In this particular MV, the "criminal" yoongi kills the mafia people and steals money to get the mafia leader attention, not because he is actually interested in money (that's why he burns it, angering high authority person as part of his plan). Both songs use traditional music and instrument, and their lyrics criticize the system, how things are, m wanting change. Yoongi intentionally put the smoking scenes and he talked about how idols are criticized for things other normal people do, especially that he is 31. BTW, yoongi wrote the storyline for both daechwita and hageum, and he says that you should the 3 MVs in order of release after amygdala mv is released, to make more sense of the whole story connecting all MVs. I LOVE how you caught the tangerines on your first watch bc I only caught them way later. Also, I noticed Joker-ish thigs in both MVs, especially with the crazy smile smirk and the enjoying the breeze out of the car windows (in both MVs)

14:05 Credits: Written by AgustD, Composed by AgustD, Produced by AgustD :_) his title track is his an no one else's (Amygdala too, but with EL CAPITXN) And yes, he outlined the storyline for Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala. Of course then they hire scriptwriters, directors and so on... Oh, and I don't know if you saw, but in his live he said "now there'll be comments saying Hybe didn't spend this or that on him... get out! I was there, I paid everything" or something like that xD He calling out mantis, and solos saying everyday that he only wants 7 or nothing (in his dance practice, his MVs, everywhere...)

Perhaps you're not worrying about this anymore, but, I've watched a reactor recently who watches the video first, without lyrics and without pausing (much)😊, just so he can take it in. Then he rewatches it while reading lyrics, and pauses as much as he needs to. I like that format, cuz then we get to watch it through with you once. Just a thought. I really like your reactions, and don't have a problem with your pausing. I'm just passin' that on, cuz it seems like it kind of worrys you.💜 This song is so amazing! I love it! Love the whole album!💜

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Lana glad u spotted that there is 6 gang members with Suga. o.0 Suga always has BTS represented in his MVs. He so sweet. Jimin ult bias, Suga wrecker, OT7. He looks so hot. Love the souvenir jacket his wearing. I have one too but mine is black and has cranes on it. I love dragons though and my fav color is blue & black. I kind of thought we would not have a song like Daechwita on this album. Well guess i was wrong, huh. 0.0 I was really surprised on 1st watch. I never thought he would connect 3 MVs together. 0.0 That is brilliant. Suga is such a genius. I love it. Suga during the premier said to listen to Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala. So that's what i am going to do. Powerful song. I like that we continue the story from Daechwita. But this song is more violent. Geez. He is such a savage! I liked it. Good rhythm. Suga is a visual. Excited to rewatch the MVs in order like he suggested. Did u spot the Joker reference i missed that. Ur reaction was many of us. He is such a boss! I think the Korean letters characters say Haegeum, same in Daechwita. In Daechwita the rebel Suga killed the King Suga. So here we have the rebel Suga turned corrupt cop/detective. And another rebel Suga is now overthrowing him. It's a cycle kinda. Suga killed the guard because he could not pass otherwise. The guy on the phone was left alive to call the Detective corrupt Suga and tell him there was a break in his money got stolen. But the guy left alive is in cahoots with rebel Suga. So similar story to Daechwita because they connected. There are 3 Suga, Agust D, and Yoongi. Yoongi just accepted himself the good the bad and the ugly. That is why we might not get more Agust D songs in the future. He is at peace and forgiven a lot of the hate. He is such an amazing man. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 Borahae ARMY *KEZ* said on 4/21/23 So Haegeum means allowing/unlocking something that was forbidden. His whole album is overflowing with his emotions, and not only does he talk to himself in his album, he talks directly to the listener (especially with one particular song, where it almost feels like he breaks the 'fourth wall'. I've experienced it via a movie before, but never by song, until now) there are ARMY translator accounts on Twitter, so if you want to listen to his album on Spotify or Apple music etc, you can have the lyrics pulled up to help you understand what he is expressing 💜 ScreamCheeese said on 4/21/23 Haegeum also means “to liberate” or “to release” from bans, restraints, or something forbidden. You also really need to see Daechwita!! You’ll understand a lot more of this MV and it’s just as amazing! Just a movie-like. Min Yoongi is a genius for a reason 😩 Plants healing said on 4/21/23 Haegeum has two meanings. The first is a traditional Korean stringed instrument used in this music "this song's a haegeum", and the second, as the lyrics say, "a new kind of haegeum" means "unlock". Yoongi uses both haegeum in his lyrics. Addison McDorman said on 4/22/23 Haegeum: the English lyrics & the meaning. Haegeum is a song about unlocking our new potentials, freeing something previously forbidden. The word “Haegeum” has a double meaning. On one side, it’s a traditional Korean string instrument that has a very peculiar sound, but this is not the authentic meaning Agust D/Suga intended originally. Haegeum” means “allowing/unlocking something that was forbidden.” Here is how he explained it in an interview: The word “Haegeum” came to me when I was young. I played rhythm games, I loved rhythm action games. When beating a certain stage, you’d unlock a forbidden song, then you could play a new rhythm. It was a “freedom from the forbidden.” Why don’t I try and break free from those things? This is explicitly confirmed by the English translation of the lyrics in Haegeum: This song’s simply about freeing what’s forbidden but you must remember to differentiate freedom from self-indulgence This song’s a haegeum Get on board now This lively rhythm A new kind of haegeum Marissa McWhiter said on 4/22/23 The second meaning of haegeum is the lifting of the ban of something forbidden. Adding what I think the story is based on things I’ve heard from other reactors...commentaries and what he said in the d-day documentary. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychological condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.

On the video, there is freedom of interpretation, so no wrong and right answer to the way you want to do the storytelling, everything is metaphor and symbolic.. If 대취타 was about keeping check on his former self who fought against the prejudice and anti's to become a massive EGO, this would be to keep a check on himself who wants to champion freedom of speech and fight to lift a lot of the bans which treat them like they do not know the difference between freedom and taking liberties at the cost to others, while actually being enslaved by the overflow of information and inadvertent conformity to the mass opinion under the impression of being free, maybe? Both 대취타 and 해금, are words whose meaning can only be discerned accompanied by Hanja (Chinese characters) which your everyday Koreans do not use often, because unlike the Japanese who use Kanji (more vowels in Korean than Japanese less exact homonyms) So prior to listening to 민윤기's songs, maybe 95 percent of Koreans would have no idea and would not have heard of, just by the sounds. Well, maybe, 해금, we would be able to guess, but it is certainly not used in everyday language. BTW I loved your reaction.
