The expressions on your faces when he killed the guy with chopsticks is priceless!!😂 Jenny, I honestly could not tell which Yoongi you were more attracted to because your face when you saw each version hid nothing…completely understandable though! Fantastic reaction, as I knew it would be!

This song is such a BANGER🔥Btw Haegeum is also a traditional two-string Korean fiddle that was used in the song's production. He said he wrote this around the same time as when he wrote Daechwita (he might just be talking about producing the beat though). I really hope you guys listen to the album, it is pretty damn good. My fav song was Snooze ft. Woosung. About the smoking, Yoongi commented in his documentary about something related to it- "The fact is that we (idols) don't need to commit a crime or something controversial so that people overreact and condemn us. I could never understand the mentality of these people. For example, when an idol smokes in a video, let's say I get criticized for it at 31, I really have a strong idea how to accept it as a social phenomenon." There was also a whole thing that happened during the Grammys when Tae was photographed smoking (allegedly) after the show by a bunch of weird saesangs. It might also be about that (although this is just a theory and is probably entirely unrelated to the MV).

Just because he smoked in the video doesn’t mean he really does also there is no need to bring Tae into this.

The emperor dances twice in Daechwita: in the courtyard in the first verse and what Jenny was referring to the chorus before the car breaks in. He's dancing up there while the beheadings are happening. Yoongi said the order to watch them all is "Agust D", "Daechwita" and then "Haegeum". I think he said Agust D was about his journey and the road he was on, Daechwita was his past and present and Haegeum is the culmination of both of them. Where everything has lead to. Tiny fact: the alley is in Thailand and the alley is called 'Thieves' Alley'. I forgot the history about it, it had something to do with the freed slaves having a marketplace.

He said at the premier of Haegeum that we should watch Daechwita, Haegeum and the upcoming Amyglada that drops in a few days in one sitting. And the behind the scenes for this video just dropped -- including his dance break that I know he's going to do in concert. I would love to see that live.

Love the song the album it's so good. Thanks for the reaction is was nice to watch with you. Its something we've seen in kpop for so long, idols being criticised and "scandals" created over things that are non of our business, if anything it feels worse atm with things like twitter. I just hope all idol artists can soon be ae to just freely be themselves. 🙏

Thank you for this reaction and for the comments left by others that explain some of the behind the scenes thinking by Suga/AGUST D about this. I have been conflicted about some of the themes of this MV. When I first watched this I was thinking Suga is saying goodbye to the limitations of being in BTS. He doesn't have to constantly say how much he loves everyone and everything and he doesn't have to be protective of his behavior for fear of offending or "harming" young Army. All the members seem to be saying(imo) as much as they got from their years as BTS, it was very confining, the older the members became. Also, Suga has been the one member who when asked what his motivation for doing this work (being in BTS) has replied: money. Back in the day that came across as funny but looking through the themes of this MV, I can also see a theme reflecting on his wealth: I've made so much money now that it has begun to be nearly meaningless to me. I can also imagine that the corrupt police could easily be some aspects of the Kpop industry or even possibly aspects of Big Hit itself. I want to quickly add: this is my personal interpretation of this MV. Suga more than most members of BTS always seemed the least comfortable with the persona he had to play within the group. The idea the Suga will come back from his mandatory military service and be willing to go back to singing "Boy With Love" pop style songs seems impossible to me at this point. That ship has sailed. We will see. Your reaction to this vid has really helped me understand it far better than I did before watching this reaction. Thank you so much for your insights. Much appreciated.

Haegeum is a traditional Korean two-stringed fiddle, a "folksy" kind of instrument often used to convey a lot of emotion - it also means "lifting the ban", "liberating that which is forbidden". Nice contrast to Daechwita, which is "official", high-status music played when the ruler or his army arrives. This is planned as a trilogy - Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala (the MV will drop next week), and he recommends watching the MV in that order. Some think the police with the scar is the Mad King reborn, but many of us think this is the "rebel boss" from Daechwita who has grown corrupt and greedy and part of the "machinery" over time; now we have new "gangsta!Yoongi" coming in to shake things up again. Also, new!Yoongi has NO SCAR. He's stated that he's ready to retire Agust D since he's become calmer, more forgiving over time, and doesn't need to rage through Agust D any more. So current Suga/Yoongi doesn't carry the scar, he isn't hurting anymore, he's healed/letting go of the hurt, and is "retiring" the old, scarred Agust D.

"I want the jacket **a beat** with Yoongi in it." Same. I really like Haegeum. From second 1 of the MV, you know, it's so ominous that you know that things are going to go down. Then the beat comes in, and Yoongi does exactly what he always does: brings it and then some! I watched the MV before I watched the reaction, and at 5:54 when he sets fire to the money! Shook! I love Erin being "On a Jenny!" 😂I love listening to Erin's thoughts on things in the MV that were like "lifting the ban," cause I hadn't even thought of that! I also agree with JD on the way Yoongi used ordinary things but in a different way, and one thing I thought (cause I'm writing as I watch the reaction), but the symbolism of burning the money with a lit cigarette, which you bring up later in the discussion. I thought that was interesting with his references to slavery to capitalism and such, cause if it was as simple as him flexing that he didn't need the money, he could just have set the money alight with something else. But the use of the lit cigarette -- with the huge lobbying power that industry has, especially when discussing slavery, rules, and order/control -- SCREAMS at me! I definitely see you guys' interpretations too. I love the idea of Agust D being a Joker-like character. I'm sure we missed a ton of cultural references too. I watched Daechwita into Haegeum before this, as I mentioned earlier, and I definitely feel the storyline, and I'm going to be interested to see where the AMYGDALA MV comes in (thank you to the person below that explained what was going on with the storyline, cause I watched part of the MV premiere -- yep I stayed up: there's no way I'd have woken up in time 😂-- saw him saying something about engaging with the three songs in one sitting, and assumed he just meant listening to them, so I dipped off the premiere cause I wanted to try and appreciate the art in the way that he intended).

The music video was filmed in Thailand And I agree I would also like to see Yoongi act but he told IU on her show he hasn’t got any interest in acting he said he received a script after he filmed Daechwita but he turned it down which is a shame as his acting skills are so good. Also him in the bathtub references Tony Montana in the film Scarface. While Montana dies in the tub. Which is a classic movie from the 80s . I love this music video he did have a lot of fun in the music video there is a video on BTS channel behind the scenes . He always makes amazing music .

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Did u all spot that there are 6 gang members with Suga. o.0 Suga always has BTS represented in his MVs. He so sweet. Jimin ult bias, Suga wrecker, OT7. He looks so hot. Love the souvenir jacket his wearing. I have one too but mine is black and has cranes on it. I love dragons though and my fav color is blue & black. I kind of thought we would not have a song like Daechwita on this album. Well guess i was wrong, huh. 0.0 I was really surprised on 1st watch. I never thought he would connect 3 MVs together. 0.0 That is brilliant. Suga is such a genius. I love it. Suga during the premier said to listen to Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala. So that's what i am going to do. Powerful song. I like that we continue the story from Daechwita. But this song is more violent. Geez. He is such a savage! I liked it. Good rhythm. Suga is a visual. Excited to rewatch the MVs in order like he suggested. Did u spot the Joker reference i missed that. Ur reaction was many of us. He is such a boss! Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 Borahae ARMY *KEZ* said on 4/21/23 So Haegeum means allowing/unlocking something that was forbidden. His whole album is overflowing with his emotions, and not only does he talk to himself in his album, he talks directly to the listener (especially with one particular song, where it almost feels like he breaks the 'fourth wall'. I've experienced it via a movie before, but never by song, until now) there are ARMY translator accounts on Twitter, so if you want to listen to his album on Spotify or Apple music etc, you can have the lyrics pulled up to help you understand what he is expressing 💜 ScreamCheeese said on 4/21/23 Haegeum also means “to liberate” or “to release” from bans, restraints, or something forbidden. You also really need to see Daechwita!! You’ll understand a lot more of this MV and it’s just as amazing! Just a movie-like. Min Yoongi is a genius for a reason 😩 Plants healing said on 4/21/23 Haegeum has two meanings. The first is a traditional Korean stringed instrument used in this music "this song's a haegeum", and the second, as the lyrics say, "a new kind of haegeum" means "unlock". Yoongi uses both haegeum in his lyrics. Addison McDorman said on 4/22/23 Haegeum: the English lyrics & the meaning. Haegeum is a song about unlocking our new potentials, freeing something previously forbidden. The word “Haegeum” has a double meaning. On one side, it’s a traditional Korean string instrument that has a very peculiar sound, but this is not the authentic meaning Agust D/Suga intended originally. Haegeum” means “allowing/unlocking something that was forbidden.” Here is how he explained it in an interview: The word “Haegeum” came to me when I was young. I played rhythm games, I loved rhythm action games. When beating a certain stage, you’d unlock a forbidden song, then you could play a new rhythm. It was a “freedom from the forbidden.” Why don’t I try and break free from those things? This is explicitly confirmed by the English translation of the lyrics in Haegeum: This song’s simply about freeing what’s forbidden but you must remember to differentiate freedom from self-indulgence This song’s a haegeum Get on board now This lively rhythm A new kind of haegeum Marissa McWhiter said on 4/22/23 The second meaning of haegeum is the lifting of the ban of something forbidden. Adding what I think the story is based on things I’ve heard from other reactors...commentaries and what he said in the d-day documentary. First of all he did say in his intro of the video during the premiere that this video is the second of a trilogy. He said the three videos meant to be seen together is Daechwita, haegeum and amygdala ...which is coming up! So I believe the king in Daechwita, the first form of august D, was killed by black haired scar face agust D. But then black hair becomes the boss in Haegeum. He seems to be a police detective or officer that is corrupt. He runs his operation from above the Asian noodle restaurant. New Agust d wants to kill him too! Maybe like in Daechwita it’s because of his corruption. So he invades the headquarters and gets his money. On his way out we see a guy making a phone call to the boss...but new agust d gives him a nod. So I think just like in Daechwita new agust d has a deal with this insider to help him kill the boss. So this new guy didn’t really want the money it was just a bait to get him close to the boss. So like in Daechwita, as he was about to be killed he switches the story and kills the Boss instead. Before the boss gets shot we see the boss smirk. I saw a comment that this could be because he knows that this New guy will also meet his fate! So in the end new guy was accepted by the boss’ men and he was delivered to their headquarters the restaurant where he takes over. The final Shot of him eating with the tool he used to kill a man suggests that the violence will sustain him. So now we will wait for amygdala to see how the story ends! So the song itself was explained by Suga in the documentary. He explains that as idols there are a lot of things they seem to be restricted from doing, acts that are normal for some will become controversies for idols. Like if his smoking at the age of 31 will be seen as wrong then he wants this song to be the start of liberating or lifting some of the restrictions put on them. He also talked about the effect on too much information and how easy to get them also starts to restrict thinking. It’s a very deep song! The funny thing is...this song has triggered a bit of hate from kpop on social media! Fans of other groups are thinking Yoongi was targeting them...or even saying he shouldn’t be against capitalism since he is from Hybe! Lol totally missing the point of the song...or maybe just proving Yoongi’s observations! He’s a genius! The rest of the album is genius! I hope you do an album reaction! Mic mic bungee said on 4/22/23 what's amazing is that in the MV, hanja 解禁 was on the screen which = haegeum, in terms of "to lift a ban" not 奚琴 = haegeum the instrument. WHICH MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE because the lyrics talk a lot about judgement, prejudice, and being free from all that. something about it is so raw, and honestly, i feel like it's a big fu to those who try to "cancel" grown idols for doing something normal humans do, like him "smoking" in the MV or just dating, or any issues some fans can't accept. "This song is a haegeum" meaning this song is targeting kpop "fans" who always make a big deal out of things that are not even supposed to be controversial HE'S SO ICONIC FOR THIS.

I feel the cigarette thing is in response to the backlash and hate on Taehyung and Jungkook of them smoking (their was vapes a couple of times on their vlives, whether they do or don't, I don't give a fuck honestly) and here comes the protective hyung silencing the haters, the same thing he did when Tae followed and unfollowed Lisa by mistake. I know for a fact that the video or even the song won't be that heavily broadcasted on tv or radio because of the violence and him saying KZread in the song and they've banned on much less

Yoongi used to smoke in his trainee days too and could still now. I don’t think it was specifically in response to them because this mv was filmed before that. Well, the JK incident anyway. I think it was used more so in general because lots of idols smoke and it gets made into a big deal.

My thoughts is that its clear that AGUST D and SUGA are completely different personas but in a way similar who are both savagely aggressive of their own. Personally, I’ve always looked at AGUST D as MIN YOONGI’s real self. Like our man as come for our souls with this modern take of DAECHWITA. *HAEGEUM means to lift a ban* and in my opinion, a unspoken fact as a Kpop stan for 15 years Ive only known BTS as the artists who are bold enough in talking bout those forbidden truths within and outside of their music. Im sure there other artists before them that attempted to bring light into dark side of the culture to try to break free of the old ways that are outrageously wrong in todays present world while in a new decade. *From what I remember the plot shows good vs evil personas of himself (the mad king vs new blood - Old AGUST D vs Present AGUST D) as he continues the inner-battle with greed & temptation then ending it giving JOKER vibes 😂#HAEGEUM #AGUSTD
