Lacuna Coil. Might be what you heard. They made a cover of it and sounds amazing. Definitely worth reacting if you didn't hear that particular cover version. PS: I love this song, a lot, and this live video is the best performance I've probably watched and listened to and that crowd singing silencing the lead singer was sick. HaHa! This one, and "Personal Jesus", are among the greatest songs ever written, tremendously iconic. Depeche Mode are super cool and if your father who I dunno but might be close to my age _{50}_ grew up listening to them he's super cool too and I'm sure he loved this reaction of yours, a lot!

From the 80s (which is basically saying 'from the greatest decade ever for music') I'd go with tears for fears, fad gadget and the eurythmics for the podium places. But I could just as easily pick another entirely different set of bands tmrw. Thats just how im feeling today. Tmrw it might be new order, tears for fears (again, obviously) and maybe devo. We were spoiled for music in the 80s, took it for granted and didn't realise we'd never have it so good again. I'm currently trying to get my own 18 year old daughter into DM. I've so far succeeded with joy division and siouxsie and the banshees (although she isn't aware that i began that process while she was still in the womb and is convinced she found all that by herself) It's only a matter of time before she succumbs to DM. it's inevitable.
Despite me being a metalhead, I can't deny the big influence of Depeche Mode and how big they are.

Ahhh! I forgot about "One Night In Paris" (I think that's what it's called)!
I've seen DM 13 time's and 13time's i've been blown away with just how good DM are..
The first time I heard this song, I fell in love with it even before the first chorus ended. Literally. In fact, it ended up becoming my favorite song (the lyrics will explain it), and Depeche Mode themselves became my favorite band, for that matter. And this is coming from a woman who was born in the 1980s, but decided to explore DM’s music on her own!
I've been listening to music for over 40 years. Heard thousands of songs. This is my favorite one of all time. Tell your dad he's awesome. By the way, the lead singer's voice is David Gahan, the guitarist/backup vocalist is Martin Gore. The keyboardist, Andy Fletcher, sadly passed only a few months ago. Thankfully, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, when all of them got to enjoy it (remotely, because of the pandemic). They have more outstanding songs than I can possibly list, but among my favorites are "Everything Counts", "Behind the Wheel", "Policy of Truth", "Fly on the Windscreen", "Freelove", "When the Body Speaks", and "Precious". I have seen them live FIVE times since 1992. They are incredible.
My first depeche concert was 1984. Soundtrack to my life. Am so stoked that younger generations are getting into their music ❤

Look up Covenant, particularly "Dead Stars". It's a lot like Depeche Mode, but also has strong Kraftwerk minimalist new-wave inspiration as well, with modern engineering and production. They're big in the European alternative scene, and likely would have been bigger in USA in the 90's, except that grunge took over alt music in US, and all this depeche-mode-inspired music and bands ended up dead on arrival, cuz, you know, 'merika

This live version is the BEST version of Enjoy the Silence. This track was absolutely huge and it came out in 1990 - you probably have heard it before! Depeche Mode are legendary and are now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Your dad knows his good music. Italian metal band "Lacuna Coil" does and pretty good cover of this song. Depeche Mode are gods of their art.

Great reaction video. Not just their live performance, their album art, mv visual, lyrics hidden meanings, spans thru decades and they are truly one of its kind. They brought so much influences to many. Glad you finally discovered what your dad and our generation have been enjoying the talent of them all these years.

Thank you so much, im glad i reacted to them and this gem ❤
The Violator album is considered their peak by a lot of people - other great songs on it include World in My Eyes, Personal Jesus, Policy of Truth, and Clean. If you listen to the version that has the bonus tracks, then be sure to also check out Dangerous, Memphisto, and Kaleid, which are also really good. Here’s a list of some highlights (for me at least) from their other albums: A Question of Time Barrel of a Gun Behind the Wheel Black Celebration Blasphemous Rumors Christmas Island Dressed in Black Fly on the Windscreen Headstar I Feel You In Your Room It’s No Good Jazz Thieves Junior Painkiller Master & Servant Mercy in You Never Let Me Down Again New Dress Nothing Nothing’s Impossible Painkiller Pimpf Precious Rush Strangelove Stripped The Sinner in Me Useless Walking in My Shoes

Lots of great music thats for sure ❤️
This was originally out in the early 80s, Depeche Mode was such and influential band for the explosion of electronica in the UK in the 80s. Even current bands like Chvrches still name Depeche Mode as one of their biggest influences. The first 2 songs that spring to mind as recommendations are Personal Jesus and Walking in My Shoes. Search for Live on Letterman for live versions.

Enjoy the Silence and the album it’s from, Violator, were released in 1990. Agree, DM were incredibly influential. They even had a tribute album where many other bands covered their songs.

There are countless good live performances of these two songs on KZread. Please don’t do Letterman! These are tv audiences, come on! Both songs are amazing though, good recommendations.

@@larsgutheil5520 they were the first ones that sprung to mind and altho it is a TV audience it wasn't part of the main letterman show but a special live set, and the quality is pretty good.

Enjoy The Silence is one of my fav songs! 😍 and this performance in Berlin was perfect!
Been a fan since I first listened to 101 back in 88 timeless 80s rock on 👍
One of the greatest songs of all time!! I was so pleased when I saw them live and they sounded do good!!
They are outstanding live! This was an excellent reaction and I know you will enjoy diving deeper into their massive catalog of great songs! I recommend “Never Let Me Down Again” live in Berlin same concert you just watched…Or “Personal Jesus” live form Songs of Faith and Devotion Tour” or any song from this tour! Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any live version! Look forward to your future reactions!
Almost anything live from the 101 concert is definitely the band in their prime

I was at that 101 show, can confirm. Still the best concert I’ve ever seen.
Beign 20 in 80 was freaking amazing, I feel so fortunate......
I saw them live a literal lifetime ago, 1985/86? We had to roadtrip to the concert. Loved them then, love them still. So much fun. One of the bands I would love to see again.
What makes a lot of different people like them other than the incredible music, is the fact that Dave Gahan is among the best front man in the industry and has been for the past 35+ years. He is the ultimate rock star on stage. He hasn't sang a note when he walks on stage and your ticket is paid. This is how good they are.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE DEPECHE MODE. It's wonderful to see you immersing yourself in some amazing bands of the past. Watching your reactions to some of my favourite bands and songs of the past is so emjoyable..
I was born in 92, grew up on Depeche Mode thanks to my dad! One of the greatest gifts he ever game me.
I love your reaction to this. Their live performances were epic. Your excitement got me in the feels. From a proud 80s kid
If you want to react to more live versions of them the best ones is: Just can't get enough (from the 101 concert). Never let me down again (from 1998 tour) and Personal Jesus (also from the 1998 tour). I've been a fan since they started in the early 80's (i'm 50 yo) and they never disappoint. They will release their 15th studio album in March next year and that's after losing (sadly) one band member in Andy Fletcher. They're in their 60's now but still rockin'!

I really enjoyed this reaction 💙 Been a Depeche Mode fan since the mid-90s but never had the pleasure of seeing them live - seems like an amazing experience!
I’m not so familiar with their live videos but I recommend the following numbers by Depeche Mode: Everything Counts, People are People, Never Let Me Down, Personal Jesus, Master and Servant. There should be live videos with all those numbers.

Your dad has the coolest daughter. And you have the coolest dad who listens to the best bands on the planet…
Seen every DM tour since 1988! Just saw them a couple weeks ago in Las Vegas, NV and will see them again in Seattle, WA and Portland, OR in November. I was surprised to see as many young fans at the show in Vegas. Some as young as early teens like I was back when I first heard them. Yeah, 38 years ago! 80’s music is the best!
Depeche Mode is an underrated all-time band! Personal Jesus, Master and Servant both great performances! Great reaction! You have inspired me to go start a DP binge, so thanks!

One of the most (if not THE) famous electronic music bands in the world is underrated??? Where are you living?
"it's no good" is my fave from them. so many cool synth layers, and the synth bass sounds epic when it's played loud, I used to pump that one through my stereo back in the day.
Amazing genuine first reaction. Glad DM win you over as well!!!
I was 14 when 'New Life' got in the charts. I've been watching them live ever since. ... I'm 55 now... It was fun to see you discover them :-)
Back in the early 1990s I had a girlfriend that loved them. I went to see them with her believing I would hate it and ended up becoming a big fan.

Aqui no Brasil Depeche Mode tem público de 10, até 90 anos. Amamos Depeche Mode e até hoje embala Gigs por aí.
Depeche Mode have been my ultimate favourite band since 1989... I just stumbled across your video and absolutely LOVE your response to this song and the band. Made me flippen cry, hah. Their music is so deep lyrically and musically.
4:35 what a perfect moment. The way the audience take their emotion into the chorus and come together, elevating the song into something much bigger like a religous experience. Live music at its best ❤
They are amazing. Saw them many times live and excited to see them summer 23 again in Frankfurt ! Just sad that Fletch is not with us anymore RIP
Any of their live albums in the last 10 years will have some amazing yet massively under appreciated songs
Good reaction!!🤩 It reminds me of when I heard it for the first time, it represents me, it's magical ✨❤
This is just one of my favorite songs of all time, by one of my top bands ever. Going to have to forgive me while I rave about them. Well, I did see them live in the late ‘90s but only knew this one song alone. A major fail on my part. But after the show I found myself more drawn to them so I started buying their albums. That began a deep fandom which still exists today. The lead singer, with the dance moves, is David Gahan, a baritone and one of my favorite voices in music. The high voice is tenor Martin Gore who also writes the majority of their songs. They have had a career last for over 30 years. Your father has great taste in music in my opinion. I doubt my own parents would be into this. But, at a Goth club also in the ‘90s (Depeche has many fans in the Goth community) I got to hear this song blasted out of huge speakers, and everybody danced to it, especially me.
