This particular performance happened at the award show where BTS received their FIRST Daesang for Album of the Year 😭 They received their first Daesang for Artist of the Year at the MAMAs that same year! The boys were so happy and emotional during their speech because they just could not believe that they actually got the award and ARMY was cheering for them sooo hard!

I first heard of BTS at the AMA in 2017, it was amazing to see, a group singing and dancing their choreography is what interested me in watching more of them. BTS eventually makes you check out other KPOP groups, but they do NOT provide me with the same level of performance across the board of all genre. Some Kpop groups fall into similar sounding songs, the melodies sometimes don't match or fit. They are awkward. BTS has never failed to impress me and entertain me. They are the ONLY artist I buy ALL their albums, not even American artists, they are NOT worth my money to buy. BTS is an era that I don't want to forget so I buy all of their albums, solo songs, Japanese albums, their mix tapes, etc. So many albums, my BTS playlist can go on for hours! My favorite part is putting the playlist on repeat, shuffle and every song is good.

I've seen many concerts too including Metallica, Def Leppard, KISS, and Paul Mccartney etc...and while those are great shows....BTS shows and their music in general, are just on a different level!! I don't understand still how a 53 yr old heavy metal/hard rock fan has become such a MAJOR fan of 7 guys that speak another language and their music is so far from what I've been listening to my whole life. They make me feel so happy and in awe! It's like a spell or something and I'm enjoying every bit of it. lol It's so nice to know I am not the only one. I get it completely. I'm a 53 year old woman who loves everything from hard rock/heavy metal to Gregorian Chants; and I would love to have been able to go to some of the concerts you mentioned. But something about BTS just connects in a way nothing else ever has. They just took hold of my heart, my mind, and my soul, and clearly have no intention of letting go. 💜

Ah 2016 this was the year when BTS started to really blow up Globally and the year where they win their First Daesang(Grand Award). All their hardwork, efforts ,their blood, sweat, and tears was recognized and I remember how happy the boys back then. Their live performances is really a concert experience.

If you had noticed at the beginning, the level of synchronisation jhope and jimin (while being blindfolded) had was insane!! And to begin their performance with THAT kind of an intro, surely noone can top that!! And this was after their first mega win (Daesang as they call it). Gotta love their energy on stage, it's unparalleled! 💜

Their stage presence is out of this world 💜 Literally no one can compete them

I am still SO impressed with Jimin and J-Hope here. Jimin was wearing a frikken BLINDFOLD ALL THROUGH that performance of ‘Boy meets Evil’ and STILL they synched up so beautifully! These boys perform so well because they want their fans to have a great time. And it shows!

This was the year for validation for BTS and for ARMY! Korea was just figuring out how good BTS was. Army knew already but we were still small and taking hate from larger fandoms who had been trying to take BTS down. This was a triumph for the boys and we were so proud of them!

I’ve been waiting for the reaction of this MAMA 2016! The intro of J-hope and Jimin (blindfolded) is amazing! Blood, Sweat and Tears is one of my favorites too, got me hypnotized every time I hear and watch the dance. Many choreographers and dance teachers love this song because the choreography is amazing. You may also want to check MMA 2016 performance where they won their 1st Daesang (major awards) and they won every year since then. Happy you enjoyed the performance, thank you Luke! 💜

As you already know, the world of KPOP is very much about visuals, clothing, make-up, performances. But when it comes to BTS shows, they are the best! And there is no question about that.

You fanboy all you want Luke, we are right with you. I am so glad I went to watch their Seoul concert streamed at the cinema. With things the way they are at the moment, no one is sure when we will get the chance now. I wasn't going to go because I didn't want to go on my own and I don't know other Army here. My all time favorite song of them is Blood Sweat and Tears, Spring Day and Mikrokosmos.. this songs got me so hooked with them even more..

They're completely freaking awesome and I've basically just been listening and watching them daily for 2.5years straight with not a lot inbetween, (a bit of Blackpink and Stray kids and single songs here and there of others) I'm hooked, lined and sinkered!!! 2018 and 2019 are the greatest!!!! They seem like a BTS concert instead of an award show. Their choreos are impressive

Bangtan had their concerts in LA in Nov/Dec 2021 and then took a vacation to spend time with their families during the holidays which they'd not done before. So that means they didn't perform at the year end shows that year 💜 I love watching these videos with you! Thank you! 💜💜💜

I came across Carpool Karaoke in 2020 and that was the first time I had heard of BTS. This performance was a suggested video…man and since then there has not been ONE day I haven’t listened to them or their content. This live performance was like nothing I had EVER seen from ANYONE. It really blew my mind. Their talent and hard work is unmatched.

I get it Luke 💜. And I agree about their amazing diversity of dance styles. But, as much as I love J-Hope as a dancer - or even Jungkook and Taehyung; even Yoongi shows his dance skills at times - for me it will always be Jimin. I just connect with his style of moving. I feel it in my core, and makes me want to move to the music. He makes my heart smile, and steals my breath. He reminds me of the purity of dance; of how the music gets inside you, and takes control. Of how the soul of music and dance resonates with the human soul. Okay, sorry I think I got lost for a moment there. But I know others know what I mean, even if it isn't Jimin's dance that moves them that way. But music and dance are expressions of the soul. And can we just take a moment to remember that Jimin was dancing BLINDFOLDED. The ability required to do that should never be underestimated. To move so smoothly, and with such confidence, while being cut off from the visual world is truly exceptional. And I love to watch it. Borahae everyone 💜

Oh! this show🤧(it was a happy but sad moment) it was that time when they cried when receiving their first daesang(grand prize). It was an amazing performance plus they received what they deserves 👏 💜

They just started to blow up in 2016 so the years before are shorter. This is the year they won their first big awards, Album of the year and Artist of the year. There are videos that show their faces when they won those awards, worth watching. They were so surprised. We should do Dope next.

Also, the fact that Jimin danced perfectly in time while BLINDFOLDED never ceases to amaze me.

So picture that 5 years later with a band in front, of 50,000 people!!! And with a few years under their belt! Holy hell I thought I was going to die. All of their MMA & MAMA performances are fantastic. These take place at end of the year so there's no 2021 as they took some time off after the LA concerts

They always have incredible choreography and as someone once said BTS is the definition of syncretization.

Dancer, choreographer, theatre person here. Retired. They are The Best. #1. No one compares to them...yet. They can dance all different genres too. They are absolute athletes who "Run a Marathon" each concert. They have been known to go work out after a concert. I don't know why. When I first saw them on The Jimmy Fallon show performing "On" at Grand Central Station February 24, 2020, I was overwhelmed and KNEW what it took to pull off that perfect performance. They filmed it 4 or 5 times that night for a perfect taping for his show that night. They danced "all out" each time. They had to. Do you know how exhausting that is? Did you see them fall to the floor afterwards? Yes. Anyway, I started watching them every day on KZread. It took 6 months before I ever saw a dance mistake. Just so you know...They make mistakes every time. It's impossible to be perfect. But they know how to "cover" their mistakes. They are super humans dancing hundreds of different moves each song. How do they do it? It's called Muscle Memory. They rehearse 12 to 14 hours a day until it's as perfect as it can be. Oh, and it helps that they LOVE what they are doing. They thrive on it! Kudos to their brilliant choreograper!!!

I love award shows but dance practice videos are on another level when it comes to BTS. Even their old videos for practices are something else. Jimin tripped during the first verse of BST when they lined up but it's so smooth you would think it is a part of the choreography. This MAMA performance will always be a memorable one along with their first major award, ALBUM OF THE YEAR. :)

they did not attend/perform at MAMA and MMA 2021 (the first time since their debut) because they are on their break/vacation last december (actually MMA was held when they are still on LA for their PTD tour) but they still bagged some awards especially in MAMA where they won artist of the year again 6 years in a row

Perfection as always - the choreo, the stage presence, the vocals, the energy 💜💜💜💜💜 One day we're gonna get to see them live in the UK and experience this in person. I'd recommend their 2019 MAMA performance but definitely check out the Jimmy Fallon performances too, they did a whole week of them during lockdown.

My favorite MAMA performance!!!! \o/ 2016 was the year they won their first BIG award, they were in shook and the cried ó.ó LOVE Blood, Sweat and Tears. The first song I listen and watch the mv was Boy With Luv, but Blood, Sweat and Tears was the one that made me an ARMY! There are behind the scenes of this showing the boys about to collapse after it was over and they were trying to get back to their seats. They put 200% into this performance with no real break between songs to catch their breath. They are such incredible performers. Name me any wester artist who puts on a show like this at an awards show! Nope.

There isn’t a 2021 MAMA performance. They skipped it last year due to scheduling conflicts (they just got back from LA for AMA and their concerts plus they were on/starting personal time off/break) but they did win 9 awards that night though 🙌🏻

I truly believe that BTS diverse dance style is thanks to Hobi, JK and Jimin - 3J. JK studied in the US and Korea, Jimin studied Contemporary and Hobi is straight up legit street. The three of them pushed each other to grow, learn and persevere. I would argue that all 7 are Amazing dancers now, but it was 3J that gave them their start.

The major Asian awards shows I have seen are always spectacular. They really seem happy to give great bands a huge amount of space and time to put on anaazing performances. The lights, sets, dancing etc all make you feel like you are at a concert, not just an awards show. Definitely think you will enjoy allll of BTS many awards show performances. BTS is very masterful at these live shows, and there are some other groups you enjoy that also know how to put on amazing live awards show performances - like Stray Kids, Ateez, TXT and more. Enhypen's debut year performance at the MAMA 2020 was excellent. It started with an actual figure skating performance by one of their members on stage. Yes, an ice skating performance. It was unreal.

Honestly I would try to find a bts fancam of this performance now that you saw it this way… they actually did a special dance intro and dance break at the end but the camera doesn’t show us any of that and is so far away during the last huge dance finale … I HATE when they do that lol def worth checking out fancams of just the group performing both songs bc we miss so much

I sometimes feel a little guilty that I am so obsessed with BTS that I'm not giving other groups a look in. There are other K-Pop groups who are excellent dancers and singers but for some reason they just don't hit the mark. BTS are the whole package. They are so diverse in their range of dance skills and vocals. Then you add on their engaging personalities and that's why they are the top boy band in the world. This show has so many iconic performances. V showing where his wings have been torn off and Jimin and J-Hope dancing together. (We really need more of that). An electric performance of, Fire. All are so different. Their dance director is Son Sungdeuk but they have had various choreographers including Sienna Lalau (On, Dionysus) and Brian Puspos (Serendipity). Nick Joseph choreographed the 3 Js dance break in, Butter.
