I had absolutely no loss of breath with Adele’s version of “Easy On Me”, I had no chill bumps either. When AJ performed it, I was completely overwhelmed with all of the above. I am 74 and have never experienced anyone like Angelina Jordan. Lets’ face it; she is the total package, look at all the positive comments AJ gets on each reaction. Adele is a good singer but Angelina talent is beyond words and she has the ability to do this with every performance. Every cover that AJ does is by far better than the original.

Larry what you say is true, but Miss Megan Friday for whatever reason just doesn’t appreciate and respond fully to the frequency Angelina is putting out like most people do, which is unfortunate, but only for her and those like her. Some music reactors are always trying to ice skate uphill and buck the universe’s gifts to mankind, if you get my drift? Personally I think the two greatest female singers on the planet right now that have been gifted to us from the universe are Angelina Jordan and Diana Ankudinova, both unique in their talents and abilities, gifts to all of us who have ears to hear true perfection. Those that cannot hear perfection are like people who are partially deaf who cannot hear all the beauty there is to hear. The kind of beauty that you hear with your heart.❤️ Miss Megan does not realize her own deafness, but she’s welcome to it. I once met a blind man, and in our conversation I asked him, if he could be healed of his blindness and see all the light, color, and beauty in the world, would he choose to see, and he said NO, which left me dumbfounded and more than a bit disturbed. WHAT DO YOU DO WITH SOMEONE LIKE THAT?

Whitney was 29 and in her prime when she recorded this song. Angelina was 12 and did it in just one take. Who else but the Barefoot Princess could accomplish that!!

@@olekdah Just saying what several who know Angelina and her family have said. My guess (the theirs) is that it was edited toward the end when the "thank you" sign came on and you could no longer she her. She's was running low on breathe there.

I generally agree with your comments on this. I think Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard, and I don’t think this is among her best. That’s okay because we’re comparing a 13 year old singing to a music track to one of the most amazing voices in popular music. Yes, let’s hear Angelina do this now or three or four years from now-when she’s still in her teens. But the reason I think Angelina is the best I’ve heard in my 70+ years is that she covers almost every genre and kills them all. Whitney is great, Amy was amazing, Adele is terrific, Elton is great, Screamin Jay is unique, Billie Holiday is an icon-but we associate all of them with a style of music. Adele doesn’t do Billie, Amy didn’t do Whitney, Elton doesn’t do jazz, etc… Not only does Angelina cover all of those and many more, but she frequently gives us our favorite versions of iconic songs from those superstars. And I will disagree with you on one point. I’m kind of tired of hearing that Angelina doesn’t have the life experience of someone like Adele, so her versions lack emotion or angst or depth. I think Angelina’s Go Easy on Me has Adele’s power and emotion, plus embellishments, range, and vocal textures that are not in Adele’s toolbox. I have no issue with you liking Adele’s version better, but I don’t think it’s because something is missing from Angelina’s. It’s your preference, and that’s fine. Watch Angelina cover Adele’s A Million Years Ago (at 11 years old) and you will see a singer living the lyrics and the melancholy better than any other vocalist-including Adele, in my opinion.

This was almost three years ago, so Angelina was barely 13 or almost 13, no one seems to know for sure. It is Angelina's tribute to Whitney. You can tell that she is at her limit in the high belted chest voice, and that she gets tired at the end. But she is still a child. Listening to her more recent belts on "All I Ask" and "Easy on Me", I think she would be more comfortable today with the belting on this very difficult song. And her overall control just gets better and better, especially in her lower range. Remember, she wasn't trying to compete with Whitney, or anyone else. I won’t be here by the time Angelina hits 29 like Whitney was in a professional studio, auto tune and a lot of practice takes. Even W H couldn’t replicate that in a live performance. As for Adele, I can not find fault in any of her songs or her voice. I’ve seen her bring herself to tears on the stage so I know she is not a fake in any way. The thing with Angelina fans is, basically, that we love her so much. Nobody else really has a chance. I preferred Angelina's version to Adele's but I agree, it is a matter of preference. I would never have thought I could love anyone's voice more than I do Adele's until I first heard a tussle headed little girl sing some jazz that he had no business even knowing about, let alone want to sing, at 7-8. I fell consistently deeper for her voice and her supernatural sense of music as she got older. It took me a couple of listens for me to really get into this song but, as often happens, her version seemed to get better with every listening . I also think that she decided to sing this song, that she loves, because she used to get criticism along the lines of "Yeah, but she can't belt. " I like to think the smile she does at the the end has a "I told you I could" vibe to it 😎

Very fair reaction Megan. Thumbs up. One of the things I love about Angelina is her fearlessness, allowing everyone to witness her development through the years. This one is challenging for her but the bottom line is she still delivers a great performance, just not the level we are accustomed to from her. It is a song few artists would dare tackling. One of my favorite reactions is from you MissMegan when you did the "Spell" reaction. It's still on my saved list. To really feel the passion that she has inside, please listen to "I'M STILL HOLDING OUT FOR YOU" recorded in 2016 as a demo to an original song written by a song writer that goes by the name "Baby Fuzz" but never released. It was on YT for a few days and then taken down. In 2018, someone anonymously discovered the demo and uploaded it on YT in 2018. It is audio only with a fan made video. She is 10 years old and I think you will be as awestruck as the "Spell" experience. Thank you so much for going "down the rabbit hole". LOL

I missed your reaction of "Easy on me" but I can't get out of my head some of the reactions I watched where people just broke down! Like a for example, one was saying because of the loss of her Grandfather, Angelina is the last artist to be listing too at that time, yet extremely happy she did, and her tears were of joy! Everything she does is her as an artist and we get spoiled, like what have you done lately, it's comical because she has moved more people at 15 then probably any artist in their entire career. How many "I put a spell on you" Performances are there? None? or "Bohemian rhapsody's" and so on. The vocal display that she put on in that performance of "Easy on me" is off the charts! The moment she opens her mouth "Angelina Jordan" and many tear up? Her accomplishments should put her in History right now, yet we forget a child who speaks English after, Norwegian, Farsi and Japanese, like the great French Quarter JAZZ artist's of all time! at 7! Let us not forget! The youngest author in Norway's History rights her own music too. The Best is Yet Too Come!

Please don't let the superfans shake you up. Even though it's well meant, it's not helping anyone (including Angelina) yealling and screaming at people being honest. We all love hearing Angelina sing, and I've been tracking her career for years, and feel the same kind of pride as the super fans watching her grow her talent into stardom. With regards to this song, I totally agree, it's easy to spot her age her (around 12), and for once she is really fighting hard, and that shows up as fatigue at the end. That said, that's also why she did it, to challenge herself, and to learn :) Keep up your great work, and enjoy your AJ journey.

Angelina is less than half her age at the time that it is already impressive in itself to perform this song. As far as the comments about Easy on Me, I didn't care for Adele's music video or the studio version & I thought Angelina's live version was much better, both vocally & emotionally. However, I watched Adele's live performance on TV a few days ago & I thought it was fantastic & on a par with Angelina, different but equally good, IMO. As far as this song goes, I think the problem with this cover is using a karaoke track instead of live music because she can't make the changes she usually does. You mentioned she was a little behind the music, but that is called back phrasing which is a jazz technique that Angelina uses a lot. Although I love this, it's not in my top 20 covers by her & it's one of her covers that I hope she does again with Rob Christie on piano. She has been playing around with this song on Tik Tok recently, so maybe a "new" cover of this is in the future. I think she's ready for it this time. I love your reactions, even when we disagree, but this is "art" which is subjective by nature.

I agree that Adele's version, live at the observatory, is her best one. I didn't like the music video version at all and the studio version lacks the real connection she showed in her live performance. Perfection doesn't really make things sound better and turning out the studio "perfect" version just removes all the perfect imperfections that make it great. This Angelina performance is amazing for what it is, a showcase of what's to come. She likes stretching her abilities to reach beyond her current capabilities. She has always done that and it has made her better more quickly. The performance is more than two years old. I never particularly liked it when Whitney (or anyone else) did it and I only liked Angelina's version for the "WOW" factor of seeing a tween kid doing such an amazing job on it. Still don't care much for the song itself. Angelina is not even close to her full potential and won't be for another 10 years or so. In the meantime, she continues to allow us to be in on her creation. It will be many years before I reach the point where her latest release fails to take the number one spot on the playlist. I feel so fortunate to have been aboard since very near the beginning and have therefore followed her progress in a linear fashion , witnessing a new revelation with each step as it occurs. That's one of the reasons fans have such reverence for her grandmother, Mery. BTW, I just subscribed to your channel. I'm enjoying your honest feedback.

This was Angelina doing some experimenting on a very difficult song, and nailing it pretty well too. I agree with you Megan, she does show her age here, those high notes takes a LOT of support to do, especially considering Angelinas alto register. I prefer an honest reaction any day. Kudos to you for that MissMegan! And just to be clear, Angelina is on top of my list, without question!

The first distributed video of Angelina (only a few seconds long) was of her in her crib with a mic half her size finishing a Whitney song. This was a 'tribute' to a performer she clearly admires and, yes, her age is apparent...but so was her talent. We like when she shares anytime.

Angelina The Show Must Go On (Queen) Angelina now 15 and it is said that her contact with Republic Records gives her complete control of works. Of course her parents signed contact.

You know Whitney was listening to this and was proud AF of what Angelina did. Every now and again someone needs to pull out one of the Golden hits and polish it to keep that luster on it and remined people of it and thus the person who made it and all who have sung it before. Angelina always brings so much respect to every song she covers.

People forget that she sang this song because people were saying in comments to her other songs that her voice was limited in range and this performance was done to dispell this. Also, she was note for note to Whitney. And, I do agree that you can tell her age in this particular case, unlike numerous others.

I've been Adele fan for years she's a brilliant song writer she has a really powerful voice she has a lot of range but as far as her vocal talents her phrasing and delivery and overall vocal talent Angelina Jordan is superior!!!

These videos of Angelina's musical journey of discovery (which she graciously shares with all of us) were up until this point bluesy, soulful, classic style songs. My take on this performance was, people were commenting that she was destined to only sing soft to mid power songs. That she didn't have any power behind here vocals. I think she raised an eyebrow, wondered what song would dispel those comments, thought ah ha, Whitney Houston and said (if she were an adult) "Here, hold my beer" . I mean, come on, what young teenager would even dare to take on this song, record it and post it for the world to see? Did she do it perfectly? Nope! But she was darn good. Did she let us peek behind her vocal curtain to what is possible and what awaits us in the future? you bet. love your reactions, keep em coming.

It's true that Adele's emotions come from a real place because she wrote the lyrics. It's also true that when you have that knowledge it's almost impossible to be objective when you compare Adele's expression with someone elses. The mind is very powerful and your thoughts and knowledge have a huge effect on how you perceive different things. If you are going to a party, expecting it to become the best night of your life, will give you a totally different experience than if you choose to see it as a waste of time together with awful people. If you know Adele's background well you will interpret her expressions differently than Angelina's, not necessary because they are but rather because you expect them to be.

It's far from her best cover, but it's a twelve-year-old singing outside of her best vocal style, covering an iconic belting diva in her prime. All things considered still very impressive.

She is 13 when she recorded this. But the has another version.. when she was 16 she performed a small outside concert for the Animal rights organization PEDA. She is in a Ice blue floor length spaghetti strap gown . She looks like she could be prom queen. It is even more amazing than the first.

Excellent reaction and analysis ! A J.is my favourite young artist right now ! I have been following her for a number of years since Norway's Got Talent in 2014 ! I have experienced her vocal talents as a 6 yrs old to her now 15 years of age ! Her tribute to Whitney was done at 12 and on one take sitting in a chair ! Quite remarkable and absolutely outstanding to say the least ! Angelina as she is growing has managed to push the utmost out of her vocal limits accordingly ! Her development and age are her only detriment ! It takes time for her vocal folds to fully develop and she is definitely so far ahead of that curve ! I'm so impressed that she take on songs most singers at her age would dare to attempt ! But she is Angelina and has been so inspired by the fabulous artists she loves and covers !;I agree this was a most difficult song to cover for anyone especially a 12 year old and I have not ever heard another 12 year old cover it ! She did Whitney proud in her rendition of this classic song ! But I could see she really struggled to push out the top notes but somehow she did without cracking ! you need to hear the latest version of this. She dropped it 3 semitones and can wrap her voice around every note. I don't remember Whitney having a rich lower register and in the latest version this really comes through.

I think most people forget that there listening to a young lady that can't even get her driver's license yet. Angelina 12 here Whitney was 29 when she did this. Adele 30 Angelina 15 So what will she be like when she turns there age. In my personal opinion Angelina will go down as the greatest singer of the 21 century. There are always some fan(atics) who try to demean your opinion, sadly also in the Angelina community. If you like Adele better, that's to be respected. You're right that there's such a "gradient" between those two performances that it's kind of unfair to compare those two: e.g. 'live vs. studio', age, connection to the lyrics... That being said, I wouldn't say that the original is always better by default, another hit song by Whitney for instance "I will always love you" was not originally sung by Whitney, but she made it famous. Angelina might not be that famous yet, because her voice is still so young and not fully developed, but once she reaches adulthood I'm positive that she will release her own heartfelt songs that will go around the world.

that's the thing about reactors once you decide to make a channel, we are held to a high standard of an impossible feat. We can't please everyone but we can always stay true to ourselves and give our honest option knowing full well it will not always go over well by the artists fans. Your point-of-view is different than reactors that have been following Angelina for years. You have seen her more recent videos before watching her older ones. Now, you can compare her voice here to her current voice. If you had seen this video shortly after its launch, you might not have commented on it showing her age. It would just be unbelievable for a 12-year-old.

In my opinion, singing to a karaoke track is the thing that hampered this performance most. If Angelina had arranged it she would have paced it differently giving herself more room. Her belts, if she chose to include any, would have been her style and consequently would not have hit the buffers like they did here. But she was 12 and, while not perfect, still gets 10 out of 10 from me. That might sound like a contradiction but any substraction would be nitpicky and I'm sure she would have perfected it 3 months later or even if she was concerned enough to do a second take on the day, which she almost never is.

Whatever! In my opinion, this was and is the best version of this song That I ever heard . Watching this performance from a young child with emotions and body language she put into it was magnificent. Over 12 million others must have thought it pretty good also. This is actually one of my favorite performances from her. This is also just my personal opinion.

Yes, the song was a little too big for her when she sang this. But not by much, and the more you listen to this performance the less you notice the imperfections. She sung snippets of this song on TikTok a couple of times. If she sings the entire thing a some stage I don't think it will be at all similar to this earlier version. If it was I'm sure she'd not bother.

You might want to listen to, as a recommendation, I have nothing during her live performance.😊 There's a big difference in her vocals in her live performance😮😊😊

Shortly after this David Foster worked with her for his charity benefit with this song and I'm sure she can sing it better now. As the writer, arranger, and producer of the original he certainly probably helped her sing it better.

As far as Angelina covering iconic artists, I mean that's pretty much all she's done since she was a little kid. Frank Sinatra,, Elvis,, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Patsy Cline, the Righteous Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, and so on.... I wouldn't consider Whitney Houston absolutely more iconic then all these others.

Hi, MissMegan. In your intro you cite comments purporting that Angelina's cover of Easy On Me was performed live. Not so sure about that. Angelina was in a studio with Republic Record's main (or one of their main) arrangers backing her on the piano. They could have spliced various cuts together and dubbed them into Angelina's video. You cannot tell just by watching. If someone has specific knowledge that Angelina's video was a single take, I ask that they post a comment explaining how they know. This video, I Have Nothing, I believe is a single take (live). I base this mostly on her age, 13(?) at the time, and I think that was how she did her early videos. Dubbing is a complicated process that I don't think she had the resources for, nor the inclination. Angelina is certainly able to lay down a flawless track in one take as studio experts have pointed out. Be that as it may, what you should be aware of is that in this video Angelina sings I Have Nothing a full step (2 semi tones for our European friends) higher than Whitney sings it in her live performances. I believe (but am not certain that) Angelina's pitch is the same pitch as Whitney's studio version. Whitney's live version doesn't compare. I searched for a live video of a Whitney performance of this piece and found it doesn't come close to what you witness here from Angelina. In fairness to Whitney, I don't know if there are videos available of her singing this piece live when Whitney was in her prime. If anybody has found one, please reply with link. This song is "Too big for her (Angelina)?" Not to my ears, but I have seen this sentiment suggested on occasion by other reactors. ... Angelina was thirteen when she recorded this tribute cover. Whitney was twenty-nine when she recorded the original. Of course her youth and lack of mature physical development is going to be evidenced. This is still an outstanding effort on her part.

While Angelina's voice isn't grown to the 20's,... It's a crummy sound track, too... But her courage and willingness to put herself out there, test, challenge herself,... There's not anyone I can think of who'd put themselves out there like that, if they would, you know there'd be ALOT of help in the studio... Great reaction to a 12 year old. I believe she was experimenting with her voice on this one which made her songs after this one, much better. She did it again shortly after turning 13 with her new microphone singing. "I'd rather go blind", that's why she improves so much in a short time with an already magnificent voice. God Bless!

When Angelina covers a song she doesn't try to imitate the original exactly, she sings it the way she feels it, which usually means with jazzy overtones. When some singers do this they lose the essence of the song, but she never does. In most cases her cover is better than the original.

When she was called 'Girl Of A Thousand Voices', this was one of the striking reasons why. 10 year old going into 5 octave territory and emulating Whitney in a way that only a vocal chameleon like her can do. Here, she stays true to Whitney's version which she will closely do at times when she wants to pay tribute to an A-List singer of her level. Not enough is said about the multiple genres she covers, like no one now or prior to, has ever accomplished over 150 plus renditions she has posted for the public to hear.

Any jazz fan knows that jazz singers often sing behind the beat and on another note this was a tribute to Whitney Houston.

Miss Megan thanks for your intro, as you addressed the comments from your reaction to "Easy On Me" very well. This performance was around Angelina's 13th birthday and she certainly challenged herself. I agree with you that this is not one of my favorites by our barefoot princess. We need to remember that at Angelina's core, is a jazz singer. Loved your honest reaction to this cover, and I'm glad you're back reacting to AJ. I love AJ's voice and am amazed at her recent vocal development. Furthermore, Angelina's ultimate talent will be something special. That said, it seems to me that AJ's low budget covers in the years prior to her America's Got Talent 2019 breakout are mostlyexperimental (wonderful as they are) and her way of exploring and expanding her abilities. This particular Whitney Houston cover was amazing for a 12 year old. If she were to sing this in her late 20s, you might forget the original. She recorded this as a "tribute to Whiney" (one of her idols), and that suggests she was not trying to match her. I think your opinion of this cover was fair, noting that she has since expanded her talent.. I had stopped watching reactors' reviews of AJ's work because so many of the reactors simply gave the fans what they wanted to hear. In a few cases I watched their reviews of AJ's peers, whom they called their favorites after saying the same thing of AJ. Conversely, too often the honest reactors were savaged by a small minority of fans, and some reactors stopped reacting to AJ. So, I really appreciate the honesty and quality pf your reactions. Please keep it up.

Thank you, for saying this. I am not easily offended by comments nor am I a "follower" of sorts in which I say what others want me to say or just to gain subscribers. I will always give my opinion honestly in the most respectful way I can. I do believe she has grown so much in the recent years which is why with this one I felt it was too big of an undertaking for her, but I understand it was a tribute to WH as well. Still, I call em like I hear em lol. thank you for your comment, I will keep it up.

Listen to "Yebba - My mind" and tell me what you think. You will be blown away. Heart, soul, emotion, story-telling, the list goes on. She also sings a duet with Clark Beckham by John Mayer called "gravity". That one is incredible as well. I'd love to hear your opinion. I don't think Whitney was a better singer than Angelina is now. Better at her belting style sure. I never understood why that style is the be-all end-all of singing. Because it's really not imo.

ANGELINA at aged 12 was was just having fun exploring testing her capabilities in this live 1 take version of whitneys cover ,imo considering her age she did justice to the song ,of course it was not perfect ,she still had baby lungs ,it was amazing ,to compare her to whitney or Jessie j is just silly.

Original or cover???? Its like sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkel vs Disturbed version, way different and everyone has a preference its up to the individual. But like Whitney Houston's version of Dolly Parton's song I will always love you, it's just how each person reacts to a song depends on their preferences. Like a sunset one in Hawaii or one in Oklahoma same sky same sun its just how you see it that makes the difference.

Megan, first of all this was a tribute to Whitney and, secondly, she is not mimicking Whitney in any way. This was her version and obviously it was very important to her to do this song. Vocal coaches like to take your stance and "we" understand where you're coming from but, you know what? We absolutely loved her performance! Your comment about her being "behind" was because of the style she chose to sing and it was extraordinary how she managed to fit her phrasing in with such a melodic connection. This performance was very special because we watched an artist go to her extreme's to do justice to a very difficult song to sing. Her 'Angels' all over the world never compare her to anyone. Prior to her performance you took about 5 minutes to, yes, praise her, but at the same time explain reasons why, in your opinion, Adele's version was better. Megan, please regard their versions as different. No one is asking you to discard Adele. Crazy!

I am an AJ fan but I preferred the Adele version. I personally also thought it was 'too soon'. Let the song breathe before doing a cover.

I truly believed you went into this always knowing Whitney's version was the better. And that's how it unfolded. You say you can't believe you're saying it, then you present your case why it's not your favorite. There is another way to do this, it's called Positive Critique. Because you were not positive, you always had to say "but" and focus on a negative point, like It's Adele's emotion not Angie's or she's too young to experience and put forth that emotion, to my ears she obviously can experience it, or saying I Have Nothing was too big of a song for her. In my opinion it wasn't at all. And thats why she is a phenom. Your presence is very nice and pleasant, you don't sound mad or turned off so that is good. Just do it in a way where the negative is not needed. Loved the cat eàrs. Also, I've been an active musician for 58yrs so far. I've had these sort of discussions many times. It's a common topic..

I will always be honest with you guys even if I get some backlash for it. IF you all request my reaction to specific songs then you all need to be ready for my honest opinion even if it does not match yours. I appreciate you knowing that it comes from a good place and I will do my best to always be honest yet respectful about it.

I can hear what you are saying about the 'age' (or lack thereof) in her voice here, since she is pushing her belting to it's absolute max capabilities, but it does not detract at all from the emotional impact, or my enjoyment of her performance. And I believe that her phrasing of the song, that un-rushed feeling, has to do with artistic choice, and nothing at all to do with age. I couldn't help but smile, listening to your intro about AJ fans comments. I thought, oh here we go. It's amusing that your response to discovering how defensive we can get about criticisms of her singing, was to give a 5 minute intro where you said you prefer Adele's version at least 4 times, lol. I have not heard the Adele live version of 'Take It Easy On Me', but I know that since I am no longer 'objective' when it comes to AJ., I will like her version better. Because, once you totally buy in to AJ's method of conveying emotion, you are hooked for life. I will say that Adele is a fantastic singer and an even better songwriter, and Adele covers are some of AJ's very best work.

Oh Miss Megan...I get that this might not be your favorite.. that's ok. But maybe consider not looking at this through a straw. It is true that Angelina was pushing herself to her at-that-time limit here but the fearlessness to try this on counts for something. What is extraordinary about Angelina is that her self-directed education in vocal performance has her take on big-time songs, drag them into her cave, and transform them (always with high quality - more than a few do exceed the originals). 2 weeks before this one, she did such to Freddie Mercury and Queen's "The Show Must Go On" and a couple of months later did Adele's "When We Were Young". I submit to you that there is no artist alive (or not, for that matter) that could do a better job on all three than Angelina...not Whitney, not Adele, I'm thinking not anybody. And that is just one tiny set of AJ's versatility. But it's ok, everybody has blond moments now and then! Have a great Thanksgiving!

For a real appreciation of Angelina's ability to evoke emotion, watch Wolf Rock's reaction. I just don't understand how anyone can listen to this beautiful rendition and not be bowled over. It is obvious to me and many othersIf this is true that Angelina's version is softer, more nuanced, more interesting, and more personal than Adele's. The only possible reason for this seemingly perverse judgement is that it was motivated by a desire not to offend Adele fans. If this is true, then the critical comments we've heard are based on parochial politics and not on artistry.

Personally I dont think she is at her best singing these 'big' songs from artists like Adele and Whitney.
