But she's German, she sings in German. And Frank is Dutch. Well, both of our nations know about our relationship. The Dutch people DON'T like us Germans, I would even say they hate us, even 76 years after the end of WW2.

@@matthewrandom4523 I've never heard about the Dutch hating the Germans. I feel Poland, England, France, Russia,... all feel more hostile even if it is just in a playful manner. I live quite close to the border so I'm interested what you refer to.

The Netherlands was the second country, only second to Germany, where Nina had massive commercial success with the Nina Hagen Band. Moreover, I don't hear Frank being overly critical or negative or disrespectful...

It's not just the range in pitch that's amazing, she also has an astonishing range in timbre, dynamic and expression. Just the complete package.

Nina Hagen, the "Godmother of Punk" She is a bit crazy as you can see .. in earlier years she was on the Alien and Esoteric Trip, now she found Jesus .. the Nightmare of every Talkshow .. ^^

I've spent the day and interviewed Nina, met her a few times before and after as well. Nina is definitely not crazy. She's just very talented and eclectic.

One should give all respect to this amazing LADY.NINA HAGEN opened doors in music scene from the opunk era.And she came from east germany,not that kind of freedom of expression lived for artist like her

This was Nina Hagen at her peak. (It's actually a really sad song.) Beautifully written, covered by several artist. Many consider her the godmother of punk. She was an outspoken feminist at a time when this wasn't nessesarely acceptable in German culture. Sorry to tell that, but she is still alive…

There are other clips of her singing this song where she gets even higher. But I think this version is the most entertaining overall.

I love Nina Hagen. I haven’t listened to her much these last few years. I was so surprised when I saw you were reacting to one of her songs. The entire Rockpalast concert is on KZread (at least it was) and every song is great. Sometime maybe... Auf’m Friedhof from this same Rockpalast show (Live 1978 is its title) You mentioned the band a few times, and they were the best that Nina ever performed with. Unfortunately they split up, in my opinion anyway, because of their jealousy for Nina getting all the attention. They formed a band by the name of Spliff.

Funny how a crazy and powerful woman can frighten every man 😉 I love Nina and loved the genuine reaction! Very knowledgeable from a music viewer's point of view. Nina is special and a genuine great artist but as a person she is so alpha that she's clearly threatening the male gender in their views of how a woman ought to be.

This song is quite tame compared to what she did 3 years later on her album Nunsexmonkrock. You should not leave this life without going through the experience of listening to this album. Give the opening track (Antiworld) a try.

From her second album, I suggest "Alptraum" and "African Reggae". From the third album, "Smack Jack", "Dread Love", "Born in Xixax" and "Cosma Shiva".

And the production is excellent. I believe Paul Shaffer of The Tonight Show fame played the keys on that one
