Love your reaction to this. You are so in tune with the message before Tom out right says it. For me, this is just one of Tom's songs that you listen to when you are having a mental health day to help get you back on the correct tract of thought. I hope that Tom MacDonald and Nova Rockafelle know how many lives their music have helped.

@@hibhibb5429 Don't you see how they are both the same? His darkness is part of his strength. His doubts and fear push him to break through to new levels. His dark side baits and pushes him and when he busts out it whispers the refrain in his ear, as he says it, "Best Rapper Ever", There is a darkness in most of us. Some of us master it and some of us are mastered.

Not only is the man brutuly truthful in his songs about others, about society and it's woes, politics and it's endless shortcomings, but he has the balls and integrity to view himself under the same unfiltered lens. Legend!

I'm listening to Tom over em all day....Ems got maybe like 2 songs that really hit, if I want to get into a demonic mode and work out maybe listen to some em. If about to play a scrabble game on my phone n get my brain on higher capacity from the lyrics....em went from my #1 to idek probably top 5 but like Tom, NF, Crooked I, I haven't put enough time to list out exactly lol but I'd put all those 3 above easy, if just talk bars and wordplay and whatever sure em kills but that's the thing...not into r*pe n killing and all the negative bullsh*t from em, half his material I won't even listen to anymore... especially casually like I said...then add all his new political and everything else...nah em has lost major points with me over the years....I think was the white thing mainly for me growing up, was like only one n all over n went against "pop culture" and was a rebel, which he's basically the opposite now ..ect...but yeah nah I'm taking Tom all day over em #HOG lol

this is my all time favorite song by Tom. This does not just apply to famous people, it's an everyday experience for everyone. we all fight our inner demons everyday and this is showing how it feels.

The night before they released this video, which they had been marketing for a week, Eminem announced an album drop that same next day. Tom said the f word, then told Nova, which she was distraught, and emotional because at the time, her best work. Tom outperformed all 15 songs by Eminem. But then Eminem dropped a secret unreleased artwork to that same album which Tom could not compete, and Tom dropped in numbers afterwhich. But Tom saw it as a form of success beating Eminem for 2 days in a row.

#HOGarmy This is Nova's best work imo. I'm 26 years clean and sober come this June 6, so this hits home for me. Tom put into words what so many of us have suffered thru in silence. Glad he is brave enough to show us all that you can thrive, even in the face of self-doubt or past mistakes or even mental health issues, if you just don't give up.

This is exactly what it's like being in the head of an alcoholic (or addict). Even well into sobriety, we have to fight those voices on occasion. My 2 other recovery songs of his are "Church" and "I Can't Sleep"

I view my addiction as a total outside entity...It will tell me lets go get a bottle all I'll say back is you go I'm staying here. The less you feed that voice the smaller it gets. It rarely speaks to me anymore, but I know it's still waiting. Withdrawals & I don't drink are pretty damn good too.

Nailed it from the start and your responses added to his message! Tom is very open about his addictions and mental health issues "Angels" by Tom is a beautiful song that will give you more insight. He has inspired many people in the fight to overcome addictions. "My Fans" is another must, watch it all the way (had Nova crying the entire editing process). Your husband is blessed to have you

As someone who has and always will struggle with addictions this song hits. I have had conversations like this with myself.

What a genius. He is The Best Rapper Ever without a doubt and Nova is so amazingly talented in every way including her own music.

The whole thing that makes this song so powerful is the size of the opposing forces and how Tom eventually becomes larger than his demons. Its the quintessential struggle between the 2 sides of everyone's self.

This is honestly my favorite TM track. I don't know if you noticed but during the second chorus, it was negative Tom to whispered "Best Ever". LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this one.

He is genius! He taps into places no one else can go.

Britt,,,I so much enjoy your reactions to Tom MacDonald. Tom's mission to find an audience for his music led us here to make contact on the internet,,,thats kind of amazing,,,we are two completely different people on a similar journey because of Tom MacDonald! Tom's no ordinary artist,,,he refused to be anonymous,,,his quest to harness his artistic energy for truth is why he blew up! There is so much more to Tom that meets the eye,,,when i connected to Tom's music 3 years ago i had never heard of him,,,i didnt listen to Rap music. I'm 64 years old and i listen to classic rock,,,but i vibed with Tom at first listen! No Lives Matter was the song! I've been down the Tom MacDonald rabbit hole,,,his story is fascinating! His better half is Nova Rockafeller and she is the driving force of Tom's energy! Nova was a signed artist on Def Jam,,,they totally mis-handled her career! I know that because i've heard her early music,,,its really fantastic music! I want you to react to some of those songs,,,Problem,,,Call Me Batman,,,Mi Yard,,,for starters! Believe me once you start you wont stop,,,this is true of both Tom and Nova's music! Nova is a skilled Rapper,,,she has a multi-dimensional voice and she is drop dead beautiful and yet she never found success inside the music industry? Def Jam fired her and never bothered to tell her,,,she found out when her landlord evicted her,,,he told her the label quit paying her rent. Can you imagine how that must've felt? When Tom and Nova hooked up they were both at the end of their rope! Tom was just coming off of a nervous breakdown that nearly killed him,,,he was going back to LA for one last attempt to be the artist he always knew he could be! They moved in together,,,they healed each other,,,they worked together they even formed a band called GFBF and recorded some really good songs,,,I'm Not Well is my personal favorite but you will want to hear them all! What Tom and Nova have done since they've been a couple is nothing short of a miracle,,,they've gone around the music industry and become successful beyond their wildest dreams,,,they're on the top of a short list of the most talented, loving, genuine human beings i've ever come across in my 64 years on earth! I've heard this song and watched this video hundreds of times, but when someone like yourself nails the reaction, it's like watching it for the first time again. I loved the reaction.

Tom MacDonald talks the truth why maintaining his independence from any labels. Tom and Nova are a powerhouse of talent together.

Another winner!! Tom has a song called Sober, which addresses his addictions and is AMAZING!

This is my favorite, Tom MacDonald song! I listen to it when I’m feeling down as a way to motivate myself to push past my little demon telling me to do nothing, and that I am pathetic… I almost feel like he wrote this song for me… I know he wrote it for everybody, but did anyone ever have a song that you felt like the artist was in your life and wrote it for you? Or am I just the only weird person? LOL

Great reaction. This is one of my favorite Tom songs. When I first saw it the video blew me away. Nova makes them as good as anything Hollywood can produce. She's as fire as Tom is. You should react to Nova's Hey You and Jesus On My Neck. She's a great artist as well and her songs are awesome. Peace and love.

You should check out “ hi Ren” by Ren it’s the same concept from a British artist that is also independent. He got sick after Sony signed him at age 19 and they dropped him. Very good as well. Great reactions keep ‘em coming.

You're one of the few reactors whom I'm more interested in what they say when the video is paused :) I think you would really enjoy "Withdrawals" and "Sellout" by Tom...both will give you some insightful backstory and Sellout has a ton of homemade footage.

This is probably the thousandth time ive listened to this tonight, i just realised he says in the chorus "Im A GOAT" not "Im THE GOAT" doesnt seem like that big of a deal a single word but its important because, hes not saying that hes better than any other person, hes not the greatest of all time to other people, hes A greatest of the great- in other words, allowing there to be other GOATs. Its because hes greater than his weakness and fear, hes trully overcoming his darkness. He says "a" specifically allowing there to be others, not challenging but welcoming others to do the same. And by doing it himself he is showing all of us its possible. You can lead a horse to water, but u cant make him drink. However you can make him very thirsty by drinking the water yourself and showing the horse how good the water is. Long live King Auther

Girl, you are the first person I've seen to really articulate exactly what Tom was doing here. This song is one of my favorites from him because I have that same voice in my head. This song resonates with me so hard. I'm an alcoholic (sober for a year) and to hear Tom struggling with his inner demons over alcohol and pills helped me to understand I"m not alone in my fight. This inner battle is REAL for those who struggle with addiction.

For someone so young to say something so complex and so real is very refreshing. To say that you have your fear and fear is fake and on the other side of your fear is freedom is probably the greatest thing I've heard in 20 years. I'm trying to quit smoking and I think you just gave me the key to the lock

One of the things that jumps out to me that i don't see people mention (which means i could just be reading too much into it lol) is that each time the hook comes in, the dynamic between them changes, the first hook, the demon is very mocking, but tom is singing most of the hook, It's Tom hyping himself out of a pit, the second hook, both are singing at each other almost the whole time, its in balance, the third hook, the demon is smiling and singing with Tom in the background... and you can take that in two ways, 1. Tom conquering/checking his demons, but that doesn't quite fit with the song (IMO), i read it more as 2. the demon worming its way into his confidence after being denied repeatedly by attacking his insecurities, so he instead starts to overfeed his ego, the risk with being your hype-man is that if you're not careful, that confidence will spoil to arrogance.

@@Frostrazor yeah, definitely can be take that way, for me its always the "best ever" whispers and the last segment before the last hook, the demon is trying to play nice "were a team", that makes it more sinister in my eyes

Tom did struggle with addiction, his song "no response" is his life story, that's what Hang over gang HOG is tattooed on his lip area, to always remember, and hang over gang is a reference to everyone is welcome sober or not

I was so looking forward to you getting to this one. The visuals are CRAZY! And keep in mind, he & Nova did all of this in their HOUSE during lockdowns.
