You've reacted to a number of SilverChair songs so far. When they were kids, their first gig was to support local legends The Screaming Jets. The Jets were such a great live band!

The great thing about most Aussie music from the 80's is that it is typically "in your face" in its style. Most bands started out as pub bands where they played locally right in front of the patrons, so close and in your face. This closeness these bands had endeared them to the fans and made them feel very approachable and not distant like the mega bands of the day were. Soon as these guys finished a set they would typically walk off stage, through the crowd and up to the bar for a beer.... So many Aussie bands were like this and this is why their music endures so well and gives you the nostalgia that you are talking about. Their music stays in your heart, it lives on and memories are formed of great times, venues, parties, BBQ's and live events etc that are with you for the rest of your life....
35 years later still a crowd favourite 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

Dave Gleason and the Screaming Jets , one of Australia’s hardest rocking bands ever , love these guys , seen them so many times I’ve lost count
Aussies rock!!! And the wolfhunterz officially love ❤Aussie rock!!💯💯👍
Silverchair and the Screaming Jets are from my home town of Newcastle, Australia. A very working class coal-mining town that has been undergoing mass gentrification over the past two decades. The bustling, teaming mass of humanity that was the 'Newie' of the early 90s is almost indistinguishable from the city as it is today.

Yeah.. NC used to produce Aussies own steel for train Rails etc. Now we ship our own ore out at our own expense for $2 and get 20% quality steel railway track back for $60000 So much being the clever country. We are a count-ry. without the u.

I grew up in Valentine, went to school with two of the band members kids. I can remember this song being blasted all the time in the 90s around Newie and Lake Mac… these guys and silverchair!
The Jets played at our pub as an opening act for the Skyhooks and I was like man.... these guys are good. They definitely became one of Australias premier rock bands.
One of the greatest Aussie songs ever and Dave Gleeson is a legend 🇦🇺💕
The Screaming Jets are a great Aussie hard rock band, I’ve seen them live many times, and their live performances are phenomenal.
As I’ve said before we here in Australia are spoiled for great rock music from the 80’s & 90’s.
The last minute and a half of that song…my GOD! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The lead singer Dave Gleeson is a legend. He has also fronted The Angels, another great Aussie band. "October Grey" would be my favourite Jets song.

Oh yeah, I love to sing "October Grey" You can throw your emotions into it.
The Screaming Jets are an Australian hard rock band formed in Newcastle, Australia, in 1989 by frontman Dave Gleeson (vocals), Paul Woseen (bass guitar), Grant Walmsley (guitar), Richard Lara (guitar), and Brad Heaney (drums).[1] The band has three albums that peaked in the top five on the Australian ARIA Charts: All for One (1991), Tear of Thought (1992), The Screaming Jets (1995), and Professional Misconduct (2023). Their 1991 single "Better" reached No. 4 on the related singles chart. Walmsley left in 2007 and formed his own band. In 2013, bassist Paul Woseen released an acoustic solo album, Bombido. RIP - Paul Woseen
1,2,3,4 Let's Rock!!! In 1990 The Jets ventured down to The Big Smoke in Sydney town to try their luck. They were an instant success. Their debut album entered the Charts at #1
The Frankston pub, Melbourne was lit. They sound even better live if you can believe it. They are a blast for a night out and all their songs are ear-worms...
Back in the day saw Screaming Jets countless times. Huge memories at the Bel air, Newcastle leagues, even the Palais they were such a great live band.

I miss the Palais. Saw Anthrax there in '97 and it was the best gig I've ever been to. I think there's a huge KFC there now. Old-school Newy has been dead for many years. Now it's all bougie and upscale.

Someone needs to flick them the Rocktober performance. Epic.
Hard working, hard touring band. Seen them live a bunch of times, every show full energy. Love the Jets. Glad you found them, listen to more guys. Do yaself a favour. Aussie gold.
The 80's in Australia seeing these bands play in pubs was such a privilege. Hard rocking great times. Always were better live. Great stage acts.
Awesome Aussie band! great live shows!
I love our beautiful Aussie bands back in the day .
Went to a jets gig back in the 90s . Literally couldn't move my head for 2 days.. head bang heaven...
These guy were always good live in Queensland Australia back in 90s in the small, venues
My first time seeing them Live, was a concert with the Baby Animals as well at Festival Hall in Brisbane, early 90’s from memory.
Now this is legendary, this song is always played at Australian sport events.
I've just found your channel and really appreciate you guys reacting to some hreat aussie rock. Unfortunately, i must share the news that the bassist passed last weekend. The band had just released a new album and were set to commence touring in 2 weeks. Rip Paul Woseen.

+1 on Shivers. It's a true Aussie Pub Rock Cover classic. But the best versions were the the Nick Cave version and the original Rowland S. Howard Boys Next Door version (which Nick Cave was also a member of). Both are completely different songs based on the two singers delivery.

Me and the boys used to cruise the foreshore blasting that song out of the car, like the dumb young hoons we were. We thought it was hilarious. Especially at traffic lights.
OMG she's so right! It takes me right back to my teens - it's 100% a nostalgia song for us here in Australia. You two crack me up. "You didn't expect it after 1 2 3 4!!" :D :D I knew what he meant though - I was waiting for the surprise to happen at that point. You got a new subscriber from this :)

The Screaming Jets, Hallam Hotel, 20+ years ago! Most Victorians know what I am talking about. To be young again!!!
Yous two are DEADLY DEADLY IN Australia is f*** Good
Great song from probably one of the last great Oz Rock bands. Saw them play with Rose Tattoo just before covid hit, they've still got it
The word you're searching for is ANTHEMIC! \m/
I saw them live. It wasn't a warm spring day, it was a Saturday evening in the Newcastle Workers Club auditorium so the weather was irrelevant, but it was high energy, to be sure! Good to see the tunes from my hometown translate overseas.
Dei always brings the goods, another awesome request bro! :) Dave Gleeson is known to have one of the better voices in the aussie live music scene...check their song 'Shiver' next, it's my fave sing-in-the-shower song ever!
Us song made me submit, I always watch your clips ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Love Yous
Brilliant song! I never heard it until I moved here to Australia
7:45 - Oh yeah! I first heard this in 1991 in Summer here in Perth Australia on 92.9 6PMFM radio! lol
I can remember seeing them sunshine Coast mooloolaba hotel before it was demolished. Awesome live with Adrian and Martin cook, I think 1996
this song kicks so much ass the ass kicking can be heard on the other side of the planet LOL
You should check out Aussie band spiderbate cover black Betty from ram jam
You got it girl this was apart of the soundtrack to my life hot summer night cranking this song we all sing together it's a shame U never got to hear it till now
I’ve seen this band live more than any other in my life. Love them. So awesome
Yes! They’re on my summer memory list.
To truly get both sides of The screaming Jets coin, you need to check out October Grey, Paulie wrote that about his mother who passed when he was quite young
7:20 lol, loved Suzi - "you didn't expect that??!? after that ONE TWO THREE FOUR!!!" haha
Ur girlz a spunk bro. From an Aussie who appreciates the ladies.
Hell yes!
Worked with these guys at the Mercury Room in Perth in the 90's. Awesome guys.
Luv this song I was in year 7 when it came out
if you want perfect example of summer memory songs, is the compilations we have that album titles themed on BBQs lol
Awesome song Came out when I was in year 7
Lost count of how many times I've sung this song in covers bands over the years! I've seen the Jets four times in the past. Was even at the Palais Royale in their home town of Newcastle when Australian MTV filmed a gig for a live series. They went crazy! I once met the lead singer Dave Gleeson when he was playing support for Australian Country musician Lee Kernagon. He was playing country & country rock. Smoked some weed with him & the band, (who were also Lee's regular touring band as well). Fun times indeed! Maybe you could react to C'mon, or Needle, from the same album as Better. The album's called All for one. It's awesome!
the jets at bindoon rock bikie weekend , wildest party i have ever been to ! meatloaf was there too but the jets were the bomb! one guy drowned in the swimming hole and his body floated around for hours before someone noticed, one hell of a weekend , i was a special guest and my fireworks were used on stage , the old days are gone and i pity the young of today will never have fun like we did in times gone by...
EPIC song from a awesome band. I hadn't heard this song in ages. Thanks for reacting.
You know your at an Aussie ROCK gig when you lose a Blundy on the dance floor.
My friend woke me up on my 18th bday blaring this song in 2000. I will always remember this song as the 'soundtrack' to that gnarly day🤘🔥🤣🤕🍺
Australia certainly had it going on…Cheers…❤️🦘🦘🇦🇺
My hometown guys! ❤
Back in the day here in OZ at Raiders Night Club and even further down the track at the Toppy, this song was one of them songs like Bohemian Rhapsody that just got everyone together on the dance floor to pump this out at the top of their lungs. And even now every time I hear it, it always bring back them memories and gets me singing along… thanks guys…
used to be in a covers band, and we did this song ..... the part where you kick in after the 1,2,3,4 is so amazing to play... fn rocks
My daughter ,Fiona (RIP). took me to their concerts. She loved them
You should check out "Black Betty" by Spiderbait and "Joker and the Thief" by Wolfmother
Jets rock!❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥made my morning! Thanks guys…btw you never fail to make me smile with your banter✌🏻😁
Great pub band. And I saw them a few festivals. But honestly… boots sticking to the carpet on the floor ROCK. That’s where we are.
Yeah feeling the nostalgia big time. I got this song as a birthday present when I was 16 I believe, a cassette single lol. great Aussie band and song. Cheers guys.
I remember this band when i was like in year 8 or yr9 and my age is around 13 yrs old😂🤣😅 fuck im an old bugger😂🤣🤣 and i still see it in my head that i was begging me mom to buy the shirt of screaming jets.....
The Jets are still awesome & Dave doing lead for the Angels
I went to buy an acoustic Pearl Drum kit from a small shop in Centre of Sydney City. The salesman and I got talking about songs.. (I was doing Christian Music -U2 etc.) the salesman said he was preparing to replace the drummer in an Aussie band, - he couldn't say which one - ban on publicity - but I asked for a demo song. He said something like mate, it's different from yours. Anyway he played a song called Better just as a drum solo on my future kit, and even just on drums it was catchy.... So yeah I'm pretty sure I bought a drum kit from Craig Rosevear :P Should have kept the signed receipt :P
Warm New Years Eve at Tathra Pub was the best way to experience the Jets, Radiators and Hoodoo Gurus.
Love the Jetters! Many happy memories of seeing them live back in my glory days. Dave Gleeson is a legend and makes me laugh but always thought with his hair and face he looked like Andre The Giant's pigmy love child! 🤣
Classic road trip song!!!!! Summertime, Windows down, music blasting, singing at the top of our lungs (off key almost certainly). In fact, I'm fairly sure it's illegal in Australia to go on a road trip and NOT play this song AT LEAST twice!
There is a other band called 1927 they are a aussie band as well
Loved seeing these guys many many times. Heaps of awesome memories. Also went down well when we use to cover it at many pubs. Aussie gold
❤️🇦🇺❤️ LOVE this band, have seen them live so many times. Dave (singer) is such a tripper. I always wiggle myself though the crowd to front n I always light up big joint have a toke or 2 then pass it to Dave or Paul they choof up n pass it round the band , while jamming. 👀
If you like a mosh pit go see the Screaming Jets, always a great night out
you nailed it .....its exactly what song it was
Saw this band many times live… great band!
Yes it definitely is a burned-in 'Summer Memory' song similar to REMs' Losing my religion.
Dave Gleeson the lead singer has a great voice, give October grey by the jets a look.
the were still playing small pubs at the same time they were playing major venues
The screaming jets are celebrating 30 years this year.

Well, they were formed in 1989, so it would be more than 30 years. In 2013, bassist Paul Woseen released an acoustic solo album, Bombido
"Sad song" by Screaming Jets is another AUSSIE CLASSIC.
the lead singer also sings for The Angels (angel city) these days.
This was their most popular song by a mile.. and their first release... rock classic
Great Australian band
You guys rock!
Screaming jets are brilliant!!
Saw This band 26 times, They used to smash the Palais Royale.
RIP - Paul Woseen
I saw these guys perform this at Rock on the River one New Years back in the day and yes it was our summer down here, Great night.....
Aussie Football Anthem!
5:55 - End of song - Memories of everyone singing along! 10:00 Travis knows you so well Suzi Q! 😹
This is one of Australia's unofficial National Anthems.
