@@bsvenss2 Is that a lot? Im sure it's a lot of money but it doesn't seem like it these days. My friend from school now has over £7m in the bank and he's only my age, 41. His parents are worth over £40m and he will inherit pretty much all of that, plus the houses and the businesses. All they do is make signs, for stores and hospitals and hotels and train stations etc. I would imagine a superstar entertainer like Gervais should be absolutely rolling in it. £160m is basically the prize money pool for any Heavyweight title fight these days. Ricky should have way more.

I don't watch awards no longer, many of us don't. The ratings are so bad. When Ricky is on the ratings go up. I didn't watch the awards just watched this. I watched it so many times. I loved watching these elitist squirming. It was awesome. Nobody respects these evil people. They deserved every bit of it.

The best part was one of the women who accepted an award literally started preaching after Ricky said that. It obviously didn't sink in.

"Most of you have spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg." Fantastic line.

This was the only Gloden Globes worth watching. Epically funny and honest!

I’ve said this on a lot of posts but it is so true for this one. Ricky has always been funny. In his own way. And great comedians see things that aren’t funny but then make them funny. He just happen to be fed up with Hollywood and smashed them in a way that wasn’t funny for them but the rest of us loved it. Some of them took it well, most did not. He left his mark with this! Haven’t seen a lot of these actors he called out in anything recently.

What made this so genius is that people make fun of these people everyday. They don’t have to mind it or listen to it. The brilliance is like diss comedy and you can’t leave. I’ve never seen a comedian do this but I applaud him! Not that it was joke. Ricky means everything he says.

Ronan Farrow is the journalist who broke the "me too" story about Harvey Weinstein. His name, aside from his famous parents (Mia Farrow/Woody Allen) isn't a household name, which shows Ricky cared more about giving the live audience crap, then he cared about how well the joke worked on TV. That is just SAVAGE to consider.

That along with the fact Ronan looks very much like Frank (with the same prominent cheekbones, the same turn of nose, similar full lips, broad forehead and strong jaw as well as Franks famous blue eyes) and that Ronan looks nothing like Woody make it a pretty safe bet.

A theory in the scientific sense, as in an explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is held in great confidence because it is supported by overwhelming evidence. Mia was sleeping with Frank at the time she got pregnant. Ronan has multiple very strong signs of Franks genetics while showing none of Woodys.

This reminds me a lot of George Carlin at the National Press Club. He calmly dismembered the press and politicians in front of the camera while surrounded by professional word butchers and all they could do is sit there and take it.

Ricky Gervais is already a multimillionaire (who came from a very humble background). He already has more money than he knows what to do with and I think he knows it. So, although he might have got paid millions for this, it is quite possible (even likely) that he genuinely didn't care. Also, as another comedian said, punching up is comedy, punching down is bullying, and Ricky was definitely punching up here.

Ricky really don't care who he pisses off - that's so great about him. The Golden Globes are awarded by the "Hollywood Foreign Press" - what makes them Ricky's Employers and a target for his jokes. He is the creator of "The Office" and played the lead role in the Original British Version (that's why he sometimes disses Steve Carell, his American counterpart)

Mostly it's because the Awards ratings are getting lower every year. The only reason they let Ricky host is the ratings goes up or he wouldn't be there. Their will be a day when we won't have awards no longer. Many of the young people don't even watch them like my generation. Ricky went way out because his not returning. He doesn't enjoy doing it anymore. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Exactly. Both the Golden and Oscars ratings are so bad. They're trying to save the awards it's not working. Nobody respects Hollywood no longer. Sophie, the lead character in "Sophie's Choice" (played by Meryl Streep), has to choose which one of her 2 children to send to the gas chamber in an extermination camp. (I know you are young but I assume you have heard of the Holocaust?) Note that many people in the audience (including Streep) get the joke which is how Hollywood tends to make sequels ad infinitum... (It's a great film based upon the novel by William Styron.)
