They have clearly influenced the fresh sound and visual (and y2k vibe) that is now the trend among girl groups. Nwjns really set in stone a beginning that was unlike any other in a very long time. They are so massive in Korea, more so than the average groups gets among the general population (who most aren’t typically aren’t into idols).

@@in-gz7bn yeah i try not to bring her up in case it puts people off newjeans.. but their is factual evidence of her 'innapropriate' liking of underage girls... also 'cookie' was written in english by a native english speaker who is swedish american so i highly doubt they are aware of the bake cd analogy.... the argument really only works if it was written in korean and then translated to english but even then its still very questionable... it honestly felt when they came out and told us about the baking cd thing it felt like damage control after realising they messed up... luckily everything since has been appropriate but to each their own i love newjeans anyway and everyone is entitled to think what they like no hate :)

@@jaynadiah5498honestly, as an american who speaks nothing but english, i really never realized until the controversy about this song that "cookie" apparently has SUCH a strong association as slang for 🐈 i had only heard it in like one nicki minaj song (im much more familiar w "cake" as a euphemism). while i do think the song is meant to be flirtatious and is pretty age inappropriate, i really don't think the people involved in giving it to newjeans thought it was going to be straight-up vulgar. that doesn't even seem to suit mhj's style of creepiness, which from what ive seen is more having minors do concepts which are suggestive or overly flirtatious but again not outright sexually explicit.

It used to be called 'syndrome' in korea at that time. so NewJeans got really popular really fast because of their fresh sound and concept that stood out among what most groups were doing at the time when they debuted, this brought them a lot of attention (no pun intended) to them especially cause they debuted out of nowhere, Attention's MV dropped without any teaser or announcement, people didn't even knew the members names until Hype Boy, so yeah it was a pretty intriguing way of promoting a new group. Hype Boy got really viral in Korea because of the choreography too. their first EP got really popular cause of their unique sound which made many people look forward to their next songs, so when their Ditto and OMG dropped it was when they really blew up, the songs are so good so I would really like if you react to them, Ditto is my favorite song and the MVs are just amazing ❤ again tysm for reacting to NewJeans

btw, minji is more of a singer than a rapper considering they don't have much raps in their songs. they also don't have official positions.

So NewJeans tends to do this thing where they have several mvs for the same song. In Hype Boy it's basically the same time period but each member dealing with the same thematic thing in their lives, with overlapping scenes. In future songs like Ditto and Cool With You, the different versions are actually incomplete without each other, and watching the different versions gives more to the story and themes they are trying to portray. Ditto and Cool With You only have two versions of their mv's, a Side A and a Side B. Yeah, Hype Boy having a version for all of them is a bit much 😅

Im not really that of a Kpop person, but i would say im a casual listener. i just like music in general. I gave this group a chance given that their songs are so catchy and I find them quite creative too. i dont know if this is true but I think someone from their company said that: 1)Attention: dropped out of nowhere, trynna get ppl's attention (based from the title as well) 2)Hypeboy with each of members ver. to introduce them to the people 3)Hurt to showcase their vocals and visuals (with them having minimal makeups) 4)Cookie to showcase their dance skills (cus the main mv is mostly dancing) Hope you'll continue to check out their comeback MVs. the lore is actually good.

Please don’t pay attention to te KProfiles that you read !! NewJeans don’t have official positions, Bunnies often give their own point of view on their position due to their preference or just by the usual way NewJeans is presented in their MVs. For example, Minji isn’t the rapper of the group, in general she sings that part because of her deep voice but in fact she just does it because other members can’t !! (Hanni once said that she can’t rap so you know she just leave her part to someone else). Once again, Hanni is not the main vocalist, she’s just sometimes described as the member with the best voice. Even almost two years after their debut, Ador didn’t announce their positions yet. In my opinion, the goal of the company is to show that NewJeans is a very versatile group in terms of concept, dance choreography and music production. Every member can be the leader, every member can be the main dancer, every member can be the vocalist. These girls are talented and they all can fit each position perfectly.

You’re literally the only person who came to the conclusion that Cookie is about their music which is the explanation that the company gave and yes, I think “baking cds” is an expression that’s used in Korea too. The lyrics are still weird but the the english subs in the mv also make them worse, some of them are not literal translations of the Korean lyrics. For instance the “baked at my place only come and get some” is actually “only at my house, come over and play”. So yeah Idk what was going on with the person making the subs. You can check the translation on genius for example. But anyway the company is still to blame for not being careful and putting minors in this position. As for Hybe Boy i honestly don’t think you need to react to all the mvs, one would be enough and you can watch the rest on your own. Overall the mvs are really well made so a reaction to one of them would be nice. Since their next release consisted of 2 songs only (tho Ditto has 2 mvs) I think you could fit a Hybe boy mv in your next reaction, assuming that you’re going to react to the releases in chronological order, personally I recommend that. Thank you for your reaction and I’ll be waiting for the next one 🫶 and yes, Haerin (purple contacts in Hurt) has a really pretty voice, not enough people point that out!

ok but the thing is the song was written in english by a swede american whos first language is english... the translation is actually from english to the korean they are singing.. ... and only at my house come over and play sounds significantally worse to me lol! the explanation the company gave was simply 'damage control' after the song came out... i'm not sure if youre aware of the factual evidence there is of newjeans manager and her 'linnapropriate iking' of underage girls as well... so yeah... it was a low point.. their 1st EP is my least favourite and doesnt go on my playlist anyway so i'm fine not listening to cookie again... but i'm glad even you still question it.. there are hardcore stans who hold onto that 'baking' metaphor like crazy and ignore everything else ive said here

This first EP was 90s RnB and personally i think from this point there stuff is way better.... they have a more mature sound after this... the next song are the 2nd mini ep and its a more dancey transitional sound that leads to the uk garage of the 3rd ep... if you are doing it in order are 2nd mini ep is; Ditto side a Ditto side b Omg all 3 must be watched in order and make sure you do the omg official mv lol.. hype boy is easily forgivable but not omg!

Cool with you side b another amazing 2 part story..... make sure you pay attention to these one everything else you can watch as you like they arent serious like these ones :)

NewJeans has no official leader or positions! Although most of the fandom will agree that Minji is the leader personality wise and the way she interacts with her group members off stage! She’s also the oldest. But on stage all five of them are equally extremely strong and it’s not obvious that there is a “leader.”

Definitely check out the rest of their discography, it isn't very massive and most of their songs are relatively short. I would skip Zero, the song is decent but is a Coke advertisement.
