My mother was born the same yr as Elvis...I grew up with ELVIS!. She never missed going to his movies the min. they hit the SCREEN. HE DIED [year 1977] when my 2nd son was 4 mos. old. I cried for a week!!! His voice is SO super amazing, SMOOTH AS SILK...best male singer ever born!!!!❤❤❤ He's in HEAVEN singing with the ANGELS OF GOD ALMIGHTY!!!

I cry whenever I hear this song. Great reaction. I don't know why people are giving you crap, and saying the song isn't about Elvis. Obviously it's not ABOUT him, but he did sing songs that he connected with, songs that had meaning for him. His music and his vocals are so beautiful and powerful that you can't help but connect with the lyrics. If a song can bring you to tears, then you too, have a connection to it. Lyrics are so important to me. I always listen to lyrics in a song, and Elvis brings me to tears more than any other musician ever has, and that's a good thing. It means you connect with the song and in Elvis' case, the artist too. He has this way of grabbing your attention. If he can make you feel something through a damn computer screen, I can only imagine the depth of emotion people felt watching him live. I don't know if my heart could take it. I love this man with every fibre of my being. Thank you for the Elvis reactions. It's much appreciated.

Elvis, when he sang, could rock the house with a rock and roll classic, but when he sings a ballad like Danny Boy, he touches you in your heart. The King could sing anything. He was blessed with a beautiful voice. Long Live The King❤❤❤

Just a little tidbit here! Elvis daughter was telling a story about a special room elvis went to in Graceland surrounded by different religous bibles of different religions. He said he found piece in that room away from all the hatred and negativity. Lisa marie said after Elvis died she would sit in that eoom and would feel his presance. You can look that up. Gave me chills

Elvis touches your heart, you are like the rest of us fans. I hate it when people say all he did was wiggle. Man, he had a three octave range. He is so passionate, you have a good heart, thank you for this wonderful reaction. Remember he lost his twin brother at birth. He always felt like guilty because he lived. We real Elvis fans know that God gave him a social gift that transcends time, as actor Austin Butler said, "Elvis is the wallpaper of our lives. Be Blessed.

After 1968 he vowed to never sing another song he didn’t believe in, didn’t feel… something about Elvis made you, as a listener feel what he was singing about, “made you believe he meant it”, as BB King said… I believe there was a part of every song he sang after 68 that meant something personal in some way, or in many ways to Elvis - that’s why we are as listeners feel that connection… he had a truly incredible ability to convey feeling & emotion through a song…

Elvis did connect with this song because it was his father, Vernon’s favourite song. He originally sang it for his dad. The album you used, was recorded at Graceland because Elvis refused to go to Nashville after a lot of touring. So RCA filled a truck with equipment and set up a studio in Graceland. I think Elvis sings so emotionally on this album because he’s in his happy place and haven, Graceland. 🙏👌💕🕺

Hey bro, Elvis even stated he would never sing another song that he did not believe in referencing many of the songs in his movies. To your point, even though many songs were not about his life, he did connect with them, and believed in them. You are right! The songs may not have been about him, but he felt a deep conviction when he sang them and connected with them.❤️

So bittersweet. This is a song that is played at most of Irish funerals. I told my family (I’m Irish). I want this. Of course he’s thinking about his own mortality as we do when we listen to it. Example of Separate Ways was it a coincidence that he was splitting from his wife & there’s another song he did after his divorce that had to be for his own feelings and regrets. There are many songs in his arsenal that fit into his life with perfect timing. Coincidence? I think not. He has a whole album that a lot of the songs were very maudlin and his friends at that time said he was depressed. He bled his emotions ahh he sang. I think that’s the greatest joy he left behind. To continue connecting with others through his music. It’s 47 yrs after his death ad he’s still selling billions of records. He had soul when he sang. People’s connect with a song because it’s relatable to them. Why would he be any different? A music specialist on U tube very popular talked about Elvis’s singing & he demonstrated that he could sing cry notes which is like he’s singing and crying at the same time which will instantly get to you. It’s very rare and so is Elvis. He’s like a rare gem. Once you discover him, you’re hooked. I’ve seen it countless times with family, friends and even reactors on U tube. He sure had that God given gift. 47 yrs after his death thousands of people will come from around the world to gather at a candlelight vigil for him. How special is that. He was a wonderful man and know our hearts break for Lisa Marie too. I think you are right but I guess everyone is different and perhaps not as sensitive. Most people I know feel as I do. Thank you for keeping Elvis and his music alive. 😊❤❤❤❤🎸🕺🏻🎸🕺🏻🎤🌹🌹🌹🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

You said it right, A song once available can be anyone's to interpret. We always do that with poems and plays and other arts. We know that Elvis was a big lyrics man - he was drawn to certain lyrics, and it was often, if not always, because of his great empathy and desire to put across meaning. Secondly, anyone can sing certain words, but not everyone's use of them can affect you deeply in the same way. The emphases Elvis places on certain words, such as he does in 'Danny Boy," elevate the very words that you mention. Finally, carry on with the AI (or not if you prefer). When it comes to Elvis, we hear too much of this don't do this/don't do that.

  • @sharonporter7132

You are one of many who feel close to Elvis when he sings this, and other songs. We know it's not his story but there is a similarity to his life. When he performs the American Trilogy and he says "Hush little baby, don't you cry, you know your daddy's bound to die", I always feel a slight gasp. I think of him and his daughter. If another singer who has passed performed this, I don't think I would feel the same way. Loved your reaction.

CV..You are so correct in what your saying.. Music does make us connect and when Elvis sings any song he connects to it because he always put his soul n heart into every song he sang..How many times do we hear a song n it makes us stop in our tracks because it brought our mind back to what we were doing or feeling at the time that song came out....I think there are ppl that listen to music but don't actually pay attention to the words....Great video n thanks..BTW.. Elvis Loved the name Danny..He has a cousin with that name, Elvis was the one that picked it out for him..Also if Elvis was to ever have a son, His name would have been Danny..

You are not crazy at all! This is what made Elvis, such a beloved, musician and singer! We felt every word that he sang, because he was so real and made you feel like you were the only person he was singing to! 😢There’s never been another one like him, and never will be!❤

Hey don't forget "Christmas at Graceland" on NBC November 29, at 10:00 pm, a tribute from Elvis' granddaughter Riley Keough, and some other fans. They will have a big song fest but also will show some rare footage of Elvis at Christmas. thanks

Haters are everywhere, man. You are being the authentic you and giving authentic reactions. I appreciate that. It doesn't matter if Elvis is singing songs ABOUT himself. As you and others have stated, it's about the ability to CONNECT with the song. It's about empathy for our fellow human beings. Elvis had that. You have that. He had a lot of pain and suffering in his life. He knew people who had a lot of pain and suffering in their lives. He was able to connect with them and empathize with that emotion bound up in the pain. THAT'S where so many of his mournful songs came from. It might not have been the exact words of the song, but the pain and depth of emotion was there. He understood that. You're feeling that through him and his ability to convey those emotions. He did the same with his fun, joyful songs. You're doing first time reactions to songs, not doing a documentary. You are feeling out what's going on in real time. I love that about your reactions. You keep doing what you're doing. We're here for you.

Haven't heard this before. Wow! so beautiful. You are so right. Elvis always chose songs that he could feel and that he thought other people would connect with.

Oh, he sang the second verse. My grandfather always complained that the second verse was prettier than the first one, and, nobody ever sang it. Danny is the view point character's youngest son. He's lost three sons in war,and now Danny is being called by the pipes to go to war for his country. He is aware that, at his age, he may not live to see his boy return.

Jane H commenting …. I feel the same way. I get emotional thinking of the struggles he had in the last four years of his life, & particularly the final year. And when I see him seeing with his daughter Lisa Marie (She recorded in the same studio as her beloved father, but of course many years later. I actually have never heard him singing Danny Boy, but certainly beautiful. Great reaction from you.

I think I speak for many of the long time fans watching and commenting . . .those of us who "know" the songs and concert performances (at least I do) love anticipating your reaction when we know the tone or Elvis hitting "that note" is coming.
