So many people say it's the cry in his voice that touches your heart. This is special to me mother was 103 when she died, and clear as a bell. Moms are special. He adored his mother and never got over her death in 1958 when he was in the army. Another one that touches your heart is, "Crying in the Chapel". You are the best, thanks

Hi CV! It´s called vibrato, mixed with heart and soul, sounds like crying, but it´s depth. Been a fan for 47 years, it will last for eternity. Women came and gone, E1vis always stayed.

Elvis's vibrato is heard throughout his songs. His dad recorded a song once & Elvis's was similar to his. It's so unique that professionals have stated that it would be impossible to auto tune Elvis because it's varying within such a short period of time & notes that there's simply no way to autotune or 'pitch correct' it. Thankfully, it's not possible to replicate it; even AI technology hasn't been able to do so although it's been tried, if you've listened to enough Elvis, you can hear the difference. Such a beautiful, heartfelt rendition of this song. Thank you for reacting to it.

The sound you are talking about is called vibrato, Elvis had perfect pitch and perfect vibrato which made his singing so wonderful. He hand picked all the musicians and vocals on stage He also did the arranging of all his songs, He was actually a musical genious. Watch his concerts - no earpieces no auto tunes and the musicians had no music - all songs were memorized. Elvis also manuevered the mic up and down to get the sounds out of his voice, Hope to see more Elvis out of you!!!!!

Elvis's voice had natural vibrato which is one of the things that makes it so unique. I've watched another channel where it's shown his voice cannot be autotuned because of the vibrato. He also does have a cry in his voice and I think this is why we feel such emotion when he sings ❤

Vibrato and cry are two different things. Elvis did both superbly. A cry is like a crack in the voice. Vibrato is the fast vibration up and down in tone. I don't know quite how to describe it. Hope that makes sense.

A song that many couple with this song is "Daddy Please Don't Cry." I appreciated what you said. He was wonderful on stage with all the voices and instruments. But to hear his voice isolated with simplicity --a piano or guitar accompanying him is quite moving. Even singing acapella is moving.

Many posts discuss vibrato, and yes, Elvis had an exquisite one, but in watching FB videos of voice coaches dissecting Elvis's voice, you hit on it exactly. They used the word cry as well. It's a technique that few can use like Elvis did, but it is part of the emotional reaction we get from him. And this song gets to me because Elvis's mom Gladys did love the roses & so the song was very special to him.

It’s his particular style of vibrato. The most beautiful ballad, serenade actually, that I’ve ever heard is from 1960 called It’s Now or Never. But use the original cut, not the philharmonic orchestra, which destroys it.
