Christian has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since he was young and he created this character named Mito who represents his lows. He literally created a whole other universe inside his mind and put it into this masterpiece. He also makes music only when he's a manic state so you're right how it all screams depression. He's an incredible artist through and through. He wrote, composed, screenwrote, directed and edited (even the visual effects!!) this entire thing all by himself. He's so painfully underrated. This is his first full album and the second installment of MITO series. The first one was introduction of MITO and this second one is more about his origin. He also added some new characters, the other voices in his head. I hope you can also check out the MITO 1 😄

just to add on to this, he said in a recent interview that the process of mito will be 3 instalments. this first one was black, as it portrayed mito taking over, this album is red as the transition period, and the last album of the series will be white, the origins of the story. through this he's essentially working through the story of a fallen angel, but backwards. imo the narrative is just as important as the music so i hope you check it all out as starskittles suggested

agree with everything but about how he only makes music in a manic state. he’s said in interviews how once he starts a song in a manic state or in his lows, he can only complete it in that same state. but i don’t think it’s his entire discography, though i’d love a source if that’s the case!!

you should listen to his album moodswings in this order. it was one of the best albums of last year; every song holds up. i havent had the chance to listen to his new one yet, but this video got me super excited. thanks for the reaction!

Hey! Chirstian Yu actually has a bipolar disorder in reality, so you've been totally right. His storyline in music videos and songs goes arond this topic too to the point that he created a fictional alter-ego - Mito. And Mito killed someone. As I understood from a previous MVs, ecpecially 'Scaredy cat', when he shifts to the Mito - he has one blind eye

This man is one of the last beacons of Real unapologetic Art in "Mainstream" Media these days.... because of his music and his Video background he can make every decision how he envisioned it..... both Album and all the Videos are truely beautiful Art in his highest form so much respect for him and so much gratitude towards the other DPR guys for creating a space where someone like this can exist in an industry ruled by coperate people who try to Form artists so they make the most amount of money.... (Not saying hes the only one) but i have never seen someone like him.... it really feel to me like what people talk how all these old composers like Mozart etc behaved.... it doesnt have this "oh now comes this now this" like we already have a blueprint of how everything should be.... it feels just unapologetic.... just him

I have listened to and admired Dpr Ian ,( Christian Yu) for years and never thought of it until you said it, but, he really can be compared to classic composers such as Mozart. He really is the Modern day Mozart!! His talent is really unbelievable!!

Honestly, it's so impressive that you picked up on so many details and interpretations without knowing the story behind it! Great reaction!

DPR Ian had previously talked abt his struggles with bipolar disorder, and that is where the inspirations of MITO(Moodswings In To Order) came from. MITO is the other side of himself, the supposedly bad side of him. He opened up abt taking medications, he said he was able to sleep and that he couldn't hear the voices in his head anymore. But that ultimately made his life felt meaningless. So he stopped the medications, and try to accept MITO as a part of him, and take him as a strength instead of a liability. He finally felt the purpose of life when he started finding himself and accepting MITO into his life. He has since used his journey of acceptance as inspirations for his art and projects, and that reflects in his videography and also his musicality!

I'm glad you finally discovered DPR IAN (their whole crew is amazing by the way). This man just so creative and beautiful! He's working behind the scenes directing and editing for DPR, I believe he directed most of the DPR mvs, including his own mvs for MITO.

The way you got it right so fast omg. He has bipolar which he initially only announced alone but he announced after that that he ALSO has DID!

Congrats on finding this brilliant man. He is as much a musician as he is a visual artist. For what I've seen in his videos and music he approaches different aspects of the mind and it's afflictions. I can't recommend you enough to watch his other works cos you will be tripping all the way and I know you will love it as much as I did.

Yes he used to be in a group called C-blowm debuted in 2012 and BTS knew them they were very famous back then but they later disbanded after 4 years I forgot why but he took a break from music and focus followed his love for directing and editing and came back in 2020-2021 his is the one who directs and edits most if not all of the video of DPR.

yess been waiting for you're reaction!! this is part one and there are more parts coming out for the rest of the songs on the album. You're analysis was correct Christian was diagnosed with bipolar disorder since hs and 'mito' and the other characters you see represent his alter egos. The film represents his highs and lows of manic episodes & dealing with depression, he worked on all the visuals and it took him 4 hours alone to add the vfx to part1, he says that what he shows in the video are things he actually goes through hearing the voices/sounds, feeling numb, having intense feelings at the high of his manic episodes and being at his lowest parts. The song ribbon is more leaned toward the storyline about a woman figure but the visuals itself are symbolism for his mental state. Sharing something like this is very raw and real and the fact he turns his mental health struggles into art is just amazing because it shows others they're not alone and helps others understand and feel what he's going through

Sorry but had to point out that it took him 4 hours to do the VFX for 1 second of the fire scene, and the whole editing and VFX of part 1 took him 3-4 weeks, during which he only stepped out of his house like 2 times.

I'm not finished with it, but I'm LOVING your reaction to this. You are so thorough and so incredibly on point with your observations. I'm going to watch more from you. EDIT: I'm editing to add a few things. Your observations are very on point. I've noticed that the lyrics are meant to be (I think) a double entendre. It can sound like it's talking about a person but in an interview recently he said something along the lines of taking medicine and missing the voices so the line "I don't assume that you knew, that I miss you when it's quiet" I think was in regard to the himself. The dancing with the demons/ moodswings I believe is on point. I don't know if anyone's said it yet but he edits his own videos which I think is amazing. He showed a bit of it on live a few days ago. Also, there will be a part two so I hope you stay tuned.

The first song I heard from him was So beautiful, this song is addictive and when I saw the video it was incredible, I recommend you react to that video. He is incredibly talented.

So glad to see people find DPR and Ian! DPR is actually a collective of different artists, and they all add DPR at the start of their artist name hence DPR+Ian. Ian aka Christian Yu, actually directs and edits all his own stuff and is so amazing. He also directs and edits I think most of not all of the videos for the other artists in DPR as well. There is actually a whole storyline to this short film that includes previous music videos from Ian, which are So Beautiful, No Blueberries, Welcome to the Show, Nerves and Scaredy Cat in that order. I really hope you watch them all bc they are all amazing and I think you would love them!

It's funny that you said all of Ian's mental illness in this video. Being the first time you'd listened to him. Amazing now, as of the beginning of this year, that he's openly come out that he also has DID on top of his Bipolar type 1. Which he's had as long as his Bipolar.

I just was introduced to this artist, again, by my daughter. I love his music and also instantly thought of Taemin because they share a similar creative genius. I did learn that he is also a Christian and suffers from bipolar disorder. He writes a lot of his music from that perspective.

I know this is old but for anyone who sees these now, Christian has comeout in a live as sayinghe has DID, Dissociative Identity Disorder so, I hope this shes more light on that for more people and some undersstanding, as someone who has this it makes alot of sense. He may have both a well, yes. But DID is often misdiagnosed as Bipolar, though I think he mentioned he did not want to make DID look glamorous as many do on things like tiktok. (in my experience i see many faking it and that is sad).

Well, as usual, when I see something new and think I could share with you or you could react to it, there you are... this time what happened to me was that I was checking out some photos of tattoed k-idols (lol, I know, that's me being just straight as fuck, sorry Hwa Sa), and this guy just came up on the Pinterest page, then I went on to an interview in which he talks exactly about his mental disorder and his highs and lows, which are pretty much represented in this video and which you, with your wits, caught, of course. I searched a lot about him and he is incredibly talented and versatile, he did it all here! I loved everything about it, the darkness, the music, the representations of his feelings taking over, the pills, the ups and downs (more downs than ups), I found it flabbergasting, really! I've checked two other videos of his you should as well, Scaredy cat and So Beautiful, quite interesting... I'm still digesting all I've seen about him, cuz it's complex as f$%k. One way u can tell apart “mito” from Christan is mito only has one eye his right eye I believe he wears like a ring on his finger so whenever u see christan wearing a ring with a big eye on it it’s probably most likely mito 😂😂 when u go back to the beginning u see how that happens
