    My wife and I were in London last September and enjoyed a performance of Phantom at Her Majesty's Theater (now His).. Killian Donnelly had the lead role, at that time. It was exquisite. It has closed on Broadway, but you should certainly make the trip to London to see it. So many incredible tenors have had this role, but the legendary Michael Crawford played it like no other. The Phantom is singing to Christine Daae, his inspiration and love interest.

    This number is the Phantom seducing Christine Daae. While hundreds deserve some credit for their input on this piece, three individuals contributed more than the rest. 1) Dan Vasc, for his wonderful performance in this video. 2) Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer of Phantom of the Opera. 3) Michael Crawford, the originator of this role, and definitive Phantom.

    Yeah, you need to see the whole musical to have the story behind this sonf. But Dan also brings some of his own emotional qualities and really dark undertones to it, than is usually seen in the movie version. And yes, Dan is most certainly a fullblooded metal singer, and that's where he truly lives, but he's classically trained, and he sings basically any genre you can imagine.

    The author of the original novel is Gaston Leroux of France and artisticallhy has been performed in various ways,, from the disfigured Phantom being a monster to the way Lloyd Webber did it, a skilled Opera singer, horribly injured, but maintaining his ability and romantic tendencies. This song is one of the several seduction "arias" of this piece as the Phantom tries to woo his love, the lead female singer at the Paris Opera House, whose name was Christine.

    You can thank Andrew Lloyd-Webber for the atmosphere, lyrics and music. Essentially the story is of a disfigured and murderous man who is infatuated with a beautiful opera singer - a diva, and plots to 'possess her' - she's not so keen and falls for another. It's the classic 'doomed romance' story really. The original features Michael Crawford (a famous UK comedy star) and Sarah Brightman - (Mrs Lloyd Webber), and I think the song was written for her.

  • @TheSchaffmaster83
    @TheSchaffmaster8310 ай бұрын

    The Phantom sings it for Christine Daae. He sings this song for her when he "kidnapped" her in his dwelling under the opera house with his voice. He is her patron who always sings to her at night. And that's why she's getting better as a singer. But the voice of the phantom has a kind of magic that it has succumbed to. There are two good books besides the opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber. First the novel: The Phantom of the Opera. Made by Frenchman Gaston Leroux. The second is by Susan Kay. Here is a description of how the Phnatoom became a tragic, murderous figure. But at the same time, he's still an innocent child inside. I love this book and would recommend it to anyone. One can complain about the fact that it takes the mystical from the phantom, but that's pretty secondary with this book.

    The Phantom of the Opera has been done as old plays and movies but Andrew Lloyd Webber created the music and story of the Broadway musical that this music was created for. He brought a heart, sadness, romance and mystery to this story with his beautiful music. I've seen other musicals of the play (not written by Andrew Lloyd Webber) that don't touch the feeling this interpretation does. Dan really embodies the character with his beautiful talent. He does a number of other numbers from the Phantom of the Opera on his channel and also performs the part of another character from the play in this collaboration with Alina Lesnik on their "All I Ask Of You" cover on her channel. kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4SBz9OrYdmqnKg.html I highly recommend checking out all of Dan's covers of Phantom of the Opera music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I haven’t seen TPOTO musical. I’m probably wrong, but my understanding is the Phantom was believed to have died in a fire and haunts the opera house. He is alive and lives in the bowels of the building, watching, listening and lurking. Christine is a young woman who auditions for lead role (?) and she doesn’t get it. He is singing this to her. Also, he gets angered and causes a chandelier to crash to the floor at some point. Someone will educate us both about the story🙂For more of Dan’s theatrical side, check out Gethasamane (?) from Jesus Christ Superstar and Never Enough from the Greatest Showman

    The story line that I have see at the theatre is that the “Phantom” is a man who was brought to the theatre as a child who was disfigured at birth and abandoned. He is raised as a “sideshow” by a very abusive “owner” until he is brought out of that situation and basically hidden in the theatre. He is raised in areas of the theatre where no one sees him. Over time he deems the theatre “his”. He writes the music scores to be played in the theatre. If they are not played or not played to his liking, things or accidents “happen” at the theatre that bring fear to people. A young lady becomes part of the cast and he eventually falls in love with her. He tutors her in her singing but she never sees him. She only hears his voice. He becomes more and more obsessed with her and his love for her turns into madness. So instead of drawing her to him, he pushes her away which angers him even more. In a moment of anger after writing his final script and secretly being part of the production, he burns down the theatre after cutting the chandelier causing it to fall. He plans to escape with his love but instead she rejects him and he disappears before the mob can capture him. The theatre never returns to its glory and the woman he loves moves on with her life.

    There is a lot of great music in this show. You should see it, Britt. 🙂 Treat yourself to a stage production though rather than the movie version. They altered some of the music in the movie to be more manageable for the actors to sing. This was a fine rendition! He nailed it.

    I agree with avoiding the movie, but the "The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall" is the stage version, recorded for the 25th anniversary and is amazing. While it's not seeing it live, there are some aspects better than seeing it live.

    Oh my gosh girl, find you a copy of PotO to stream pronto! The "Phantom falls in love with a girl in the chorus and manipulates the owners into making her a star. This song is him trying to seduce her. For my theater class in college i literally wrote a paper on the debate over whether he was "a lost cause" or could love have saved him. Yes that's honestly a debate among theater geeks. 😆 When you learn his story, it's absolutely heartbreaking. I have seen so many amazing versions of this but i HIGHLY recommend the version with Gerard Butler. He also has a rock music background, by the way. He makes you frightened one second and melt into a puddle the next.

    The story line ... It's been years but from what I remember The Phantom of the Opera is a 'love' story. He is the ghost of an actor that died in a theatre fire (hence the partial mask) some years before that falls in love with an actress doing that play in that theatre. I believe this is a song of seduction and a declaration of love. Then again, maybe I got it all wrong. It's been a few too many decades and 'I might've gotten high and I missed it.'

    There is a movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera if you are not able to see the stage performance. Not quite the same I will admit since I have seen both. Phantom is singing it to Christine trying to convince her to turn away from a suitor above ground who can giv the day time while he can give her music, his entire being and heart. It is the story of who gets the girl, the talented ugly guy who loves her or the attractive, wealthy one that is use to getting everything? Only this time the ugly one has less restraint to social restraint in getting what he wants since he doesn't feel like he really has ever has been part of society.

    He does about 80% metal songs or puts a metal spin on other songs. As far as the plot of the Phantom Of the Opera From his hideout beneath a 19th century Paris opera house, the brooding Phantom schemes to get closer to vocalist Christine. The Phantom, wearing a mask to hide a congenital disfigurement, strong-arms management into giving the budding starlet key roles, but Christine instead falls for arts benefactor Raoul. Terrified at the notion of her absence, the Phantom enacts a plan to keep Christine by his side, while Raoul tries to foil the scheme. Trust me I've seen it prob 10 times, magnificent theatre, watch it!!!

Put a sling under your chin or it'll land in your lap! kzread.info/dash/bejne/jGaYyNWFY5y6pKw.html I see that you have done several reactions to Angelina Jordan, another young artist that I really enjoy as well. Jackie would be a great rabbit hole reaction subject for you. Especially her more current music from contemporary musical material to a tribute album of all Joni Mitchell. The range of music that Jackie has put out in the last 13 plus years is phenomenal!
