"How did this become a thing in western culture that guys and girls are j****ing off to little kpop boys?" Parents said the same kind of thing in the 50s and 60s when Rock N Roll showed up. I don't know why people continue to get bent out of shape about anything new. If some people had their way, we'd still be listening to nothing but classical music. I'm 60 years old and have seen a lot of music styles come and go and my playlists sound like a history of music class. New and different does not mean evil or bad. Prejudice is a black hole that will unfortunately always be with us. All kinds of prejudice, it is the bane of humanity, but it serves its purpose. It teaches us humans to persevere and overcome (just like BTS and ARMY have done over the past 7 years). This too shall pass, KPop is here to stay and the world has no choice but to just get out of the way. Don't like it? Don't listen to it. There are approximately 360 million BTS fans around the world. Kind of hard to argue with those kinds of numbers. That's more than the entire population of the US. They are a phenomenon that will be studied for years to come. It's not just the music or the message. It's also the boys themselves, their personalities, their humbleness, their drive, their perseverance, their never ending love for us, their fans, their fight and struggle to fulfill their dreams. Like I said, I've seen a lot of groups come and go over the decades. None have ever touched me the way these boys do. I want them to succeed, to grow, to be happy and healthy, to fulfill every dream they've ever had. I only cared about the music of other groups. I never had a personal connection to them. Social media helps a lot in this. Part of this is that BTS showed up at exactly the right time and were smart enough to engage with their fans through social media more than anyone has before, but that's not all of it. It's them. All 7 of them. All 360 million of us. Together. Family. We have formed a connection that is unique. A movement. One that will always be here cheering and encouraging the boys and each other to go for your dreams, whatever they may be. I'm very honored to consider myself a Senior Army. Discovering BTS was one of the best things that ever happened in my life and I've enjoyed every second of the ride, and I look forward to whatever they have in store for us in the future.

It feels so so good to see a senior ARMY, seriously. Like... Where I live I can't even expect people of my age to like BTS or not make any comments on them (though kpop and bts is gradually growing in my country but still it's hard) and then I see even senior armys like you... Seriously wow!! I content myself with it, that it's ok. At least some part of the world has more mature people like you where even the generation gap doesn't matter but the facts, reality and real talent. 💜💜💜 people like you have my respect 💜

I'v waited so long for this..

People keep saying “ oh well BTS wasn’t popular from the start. Sooo...” but I think that’s one of the greatest things about them. They came from a small company, they didn’t get recognized as much. Which made them work hard. Very hard. They pulled through all of the hate and false rumors to come to this day where they are the biggest boy group in the world. And it makes me really proud. It’s hard to go through all of that hate. Yeah, maybe Twice, Blackpink, and Exo were from the big 3 companies ( JYP, YG, and SM) Which meant they already got a lot of attention from people. (This is not hate) So it’s really amazing that BTS went from literally nobodies to amazing people. Just like the video said.

I’m glad you watched this, like you said they didn’t have a company pushing them. Instead they had to compete against all these other groups which had such machines behind them. They made it of pure talent, practice and persistence. That’s why BTS will always be my ult group 💜

Exactly, the biggest companies, known as the big 3, are YG, JYP, and SM. They’ve debuted groups like; SM: Red Velvet, Shinee, Girls Generation, Exo, NCT, Super Junior, F(x) JYP: Twice, Wonder Girls, Got7, Itzy, Day6, Stray Kids YG: Blackpink, Bigbang, 2ne1, Ikon, Winner So as you can see, these big3 were mostly dominating the music industry. Artists ofc still had to work hard in these companies too, but still got a huge head-start from debut, bc of the publicity that comes with the company. And ofc the fact that these companies have a lot of money they can put into the groups (with YG as exception.. smh) So the fact that BTS was the first kpop group that wasn’t from the big 3, to win a daesang (grand prize), that was HUGE.

My favourite piece of trivia when trying to keep in perspective their growth is that in I NEED U (which is the song that rly propelled them within South Korea), the car that Jin drove around belonged to a manager in the company, and the 2 guys beating up JK in the same MV were also their managers. They literally didn't hae enough money to rent a car or hire extras for filming. When the Fire MV came out just the next year, armies were so, so proud of whatever success they had gotten from I NEED U and RUN eras: BTS actually dropped a car and destroyed it and had SO many extras in that MV!!! It really was such an emotional moment :') And from then on, their MV budget has never seemed like an issue bc they just keep outdoing themselves. But it's really crazy if you think back on it now -- it must have been so hard for them and the company, yet they had faith in each other and faith in their fans. And it all worked out so beautifully.

BTS are always so humble and amazing! They never forget the kind of place they were once at, and stay amazing, even after all this fame. People say money and fame changes a person for the worse, but BTS are clear examples that people can change for the better. I started listening to BTS about a month of two ago and I can't believe I didn't start any sooner. I heard of them, but never listened to them because I didn't really like trying out new music. But then my friend slowly started introducing me to them, and I love them! They're amazing humans!! They helped so much with what's going on today, COVID-19, BLM, and Yemen. These people are literally legends! I really hope more people support them, even though they have ARMY, a literal army, behind them. I know people go to great lengths for their heroes, and I will too. I'm ready to support them because they have supported so many people and care about ARMY so much. They're also kind with each other, maintaining a great relationship with everyone. Anyone who doesn't like them clearly has not seen the great impact they have brought on us.

Your outro song is how I’ve felt ever since I’ve been stanning different artists (especially in K-Pop) I’ll literally pull out any idea to defend why I love it so much. Like, okay there is some influences from other music cultures, however, it’s a different sound and the messages aren’t all exactly the same. The style is different the energy is different (especially the “chaotic” energy when they act natural and go funny crazy) The whole culture/industry of Pop, Hip-hop, Rap, and other music in Korea is more like one big family than a competition. Yes you still have rules and regulations and many issues but to me as an American it differs from what goes on in my home country not only because it’s different in a foreign sense but it’s just something about the overall aura or charisma. I feel as if it’s almost less cutthroat in a sense. And as a person who loves to know and learn about other cultures it’s especially good for me personally since I love music and cultures so much. Listening to K-Pop has pushed me to be even more diverse and open minded. (I don’t think I’ve ever went this deep with a comment before. 😂)
