    When Ben shares his thoughts on Ramly burgers, it's important to remember that taste is a very personal experience. Just like some Malaysians adore Ramly burgers due to their familiar flavors, others might find them unfamiliar. Traveling often involves trying new things, and sometimes those experiences might not quite match our expectations. It's completely understandable to share honest feedback, just like we would with any other food. Perhaps considering a similar scenario might help: someone unfamiliar with strong cheeses might find Roquefort cheese quite intense. Not for many Malaysians. By keeping an open mind and appreciating the diversity of preferences, we can foster a spirit of cultural exchange and avoid taking things personally. So guys, just enjoy his videos and do not take this thing too seriously.

    Only my suggestion to you. Since you are allergies to some food you might want to do medical checkup in private hospital in Malaysia. For your information Malaysia is also very good in medical tourism. Some European and US tourist mention that Malaysia private hospital is on par to Europe and US with a lower price. Only my suggestion. Don't shoot the messenger if it doesn't work but my suggestion maybe you should also asked for second opinion.

    Ramly Burger has a unique concept not found anywhere else. It is not a burger joint like McD or Burger King. It can be found at the frozen food section of supermarkets. You can cook it at home or you can make money from it by opening up a burger stall. It has provided a means of steady income for many young struggling malays to try a hand at starting their own small business with ready product and with small capital. From there they can use their own creativity to create their own version of Ramly burger. Some are really good. Some not so much. For me personally, I love me some Ramly burger every now and then be it home cooked or from the streets.

    I can often relate to your small misadventures in Kuala Lumpur. I've actually given up on Ramly Burgers for the most part because the burger stalls I've tracked down are never open. I've made deliberate trips across the city and to neighborhoods I'm familiar with on multiple occasions to snack on a Ramly Burger only to be disappointed. They are never open. So I just stopped trying. I guess there are a couple of well-known spots like this one that you found. They are featured in a lot of KZreadr vlogs. But if I ever just pick a Ramly Burger outlet on Google Maps in whatever neighorhood I'm in, they are always closed. Even the time of day doesn't seem to matter. 😀 I'm glad you finally found one. And this guy was very accommodating to your special order.

    Actually many foreigners are misled by other KZreadrs on the true meaning of Ramly burgers. RB is not brand like McD or BK. There's no SOP to cooking a "Malaysian RB", even the patty does not come from Ramly brand. So there's no point in saying "Wow...RB is best burger i had....". Next time just say which burger stall in which location is the best, thats it.

    Hi Ben, my husband and I appreciate the honesty in this video! I am happy that you read the ingredient list to inform your viewers of the contents of the patty. Malaysians are not aware of it! I grew up eating Ramly burgers occasionally but living in the US has made me become more informed of what food companies put in their food. Sprouts and Whole Foods are our go to supermarkets, but we’re seeing Albertsons or Walmart selling more healthy conscious food now. Even though what you said is right about McD’s burgers are 100% beef, they are still unhealthy considering what they feed the cows, how they treat the animals and electrocute them for the meat. My husband is a celiac and so we have to be very careful of what he eats and most of the time I cook for him. I cook him true Malaysian food, with fresh herb ingredients and spices. If you are interested in eating more healthy, get out of KL and eat more kampung-style food where it’s more fish and vegetable-based food. Or you can even visit the markets. You will find fresh ingredients. I do think originally Malaysian food is healthy but it has become unhealthy. Also, FYI Malaysia is the most obese country in Southeast Asia lol

  • @benfishermin

    @benfishermin

    Ай бұрын

    Sprouts and Whole Foods are both great, I used to buy all of my meat from Whole Foods, definitely high quality. Honestly most Malaysians are not too concerned about health in general. I've been told majority of Malaysians don't like to walk and they don't really concern themselves with what ingredients are in the food. Every restaurant uses vegetable oil at the very least, so I hate that I can't cook my meals at the moment. Yea McD is still unhealthy no question, I haven't actually eaten it or any similar places in many years now. There's two places I like to go in KL that are Malay food and it's much cleaner than the indian muslim style places. The curries are more thin and no sugar, and they have several green veggie dishes with things like spinach and bok choy. I can't wait to start cooking my meals again. Thanks for the comment.

Every single roadside burger joint is going to taste different, some are absolutely amazing, and some are just meh. I reckon you got the lesser experience. And please don't mind the salty comments, the burger is very deeply rooted in Malaysian culture, because believe it or not, not everyone can afford MCD, KFC (borderline luxury food to some), so when roadside burger joints existed, it was a godsend. Like them or hate them, it's definitely cultural and a point of pride of Malaysians when it comes to these burgers, so it's expected to receive a little saltiness when reviewing these burgers. just my 2 cents

I've heard great things about the carnivore diet for healing especially in relation to digestion issues, and autoimmune disorders. But I had too many overboard binges since then which knocked me out of balance again. Yea I think some people mistook it as "this is cheap for us westerners" when I really meant that it's rather cheap for Kuala Lumpur, for a burger with 3x patties. I mean the official definition of the word cheap is actually just "relatively low in price, or inexpensive" but maybe the word inexpensive sounds better for some folks. Thanks for the commment.

    I find it interesting so many foreigners coming from great burgers countries would praise the Ramly Burgers but You tell it like it's like. May be they are being nice or youtube food critics trying to avoid backlash from local viewers. The patty and cheese are terrible, dry and murdered with sweet sauce. I took a bite and never looked back. It's local delicacy but worst burger if you looking for a mean meaty fresh juicy burger.

    No I’d rather give the dollar amount, it’s not for you it’s for other westerners, why are you telling me what to do on my own video? When I said it’s cheap I’m referring to Malaysia / KL food prices, not comparing it to western prices, 3x patty burger for 10RM is a good price

    @@benfishermin i am not telling you what to do on your video ya.and you called the food you bought garbage..what you said is so disrespectful.pity the guy who sold you the burger...had to discard the ready ones coz of your allergies and lost money.no way you could do that in your country.The seller told you it's cheap coz of your exchange rate .it's not coz it's the price in kl ya.even in the USA you tubers buy fresh food for the homeless not give super bland eaten food to them..speechless..unhygenic too.see the many You tubers from your country who are in Malaysia doing food reviews.none are disrespectful and many have bought fresh food for the homeless.

    @@kironsidhu1615 Yea that was just my opinion on it, I thought it was garbage. The guy who sold me the burger did not lose any money, I paid him for it. And I gave the rest to a homeless woman and her child, they started eating it immediately and seemed extremely happy about it. A good portion of KZreadrs buying fresh food to give away while filming the whole thing are doing it for content, for views. It's still a good deed to help the homeless either way, but it's not exactly authentic or it's not necessarily something they'd do off camera. You think because I have allergies to food that I shouldn't be allowed to pay for this burger and try it myself, without eating the whole thing? Your perspective is so privileged it's crazy. People are literally picking out of garbage cans and off of the ground because they don't have food.

    To make a Ramly burger you may need 7 or 8 items. So, if you take away half of it because you are allergic, you can't give an honest review. It is just like eating chicken rice without the chicken. I feel that you should stay away from food reviews.
