It's not that Ramly dont trust all these fastfood chain with their halalness because if these international f&b managed to open here that means they have gone thru a strict process of ensuring it's halal already, but what Ramly envisioned was to provide patties with quality meats as the sentiments back then (even now) was that those patties frm the fastfood chains are made of "scraps" than real lean meat, if u know what I mean.

The main reason why Ramly made the patty back then in 1978 was bcoz there was no, ir hardly any, halal burger patty available in Malaysian market and none produced by a Malay (Bumiputera). Halal was being the main reason.

You're deluded. There's nothing quality with respect to Ramly burger meat. The beef is substandard and doesn't meet international health standards. This is why Ramly is banned in Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, all EU countries and the UK and the US and Canada. I don't know what "fastfood chains" you have in mind but the international ones all have strict health and hygiene standards and use "real lean meat". Cook a Ramly burger at home and the vile smell tells you it's not quality meat.

Hi there. Village Park nasi lemak is among the best in the Klang Valley and one of the reasons is that their spiced chicken is crispy on the outside but juicy and soft on the inside - achieved by marinating then flash frying which is common in Asian cooking. That "citrussy" flavour of the chicken is probably lemongrass you're tasting. You will find this signature flavour in the taste profiles of many Malaysian dishes. As for the Ramly burger, its become a Malaysian institution in of itself 😀. However it's not because of mistrust of western burger chains' halal status. Malaysia has a trusted halal certification process which confers very publicly trusted credentials which all the major restaurant brands have. I would say Ramly burgers are popular because they are much more affordable.

There’s no right or wrong way to eat it. It’s all good. I prefer not to mix it up. Instead when I eat and I feel like I want a little crunch, I add peanut to my rice. Something a little spicy or sweet? Add sambal to the spoon. Things getting a bit heavy? Take a bite of the cucumber for freshness. Then you start adding rice + 2-3 other toppings on the spoon for even more complex flavours. So every mouthful taste different but always with that dreamy rice backing, from one plate.

You don't eat hokkien mee with bird's eye chilli(chilli padi), it is not compatible. The chilli paste(belacan) is the correct add on, it makes the hokkien mee more delicious. I normally would eat half of plate of hokkien mee without belacan and balance I would mix belacan into the noodles. It will bring the taste to a next level.

Ramly beef patties are made with substandard meat that doesn't comply with basic international health standards. This is why just 1km from Malaysia, in Singapore, they're banned. Around 30% of the burger isn't meat and just fillers and what is meat, will contain parts of the animal you really don't want to know about. You can buy Ramly patties frozen from any supermarket and if you cook them at home the stench will put you eating one again. The open air experience is different. The sauces used are there to smother the taste. Whether the meat Ramly use is halal is questionable and as there's no traceability from animal to street vendor you have no idea what you're eating. This seller is busy because of what he adds to the patty, you'll struggle to find anything close to this so your review was skewed. Ramly burgers are the kind of thing you'd eat if you were drunk and there's nowhere else to eat close by. Lies were actively spread by Ramly as to whether halal certification of the big food chains could be trusted but is you know anything about how they operate, food security and traceability is paramount.

If any vendor just give you free food or someone paying for you, take it, say thanks and leave, do not pay, in fact paying is insulting/offending (because it means you reject their good will/intention/gesture). I know you're not used to it, but next time just go with the flow, it's a culture here. 😁

@@ThePassportCouple In Malaysia vendor could just give for free and people could pay for someone just because they feel like it, not only to tourists but to locals as well espcially to children, students, travellers, old folks and disabled people. Most of time they love to remain mystery, when you want to pay at the counter the cashier said "already paid" and either refuse to tell you the mystery person who paid it or the person already left 😁
