you should add: If you fold your hand and there is still action, don't talk about your hand. I see that a lot from new players; they love to talk about what they folded when the turn and river finally hit the hand they just mucked.

There are many components to good poker courses. One place I discovered that successfully combines these is the Card Crusher Fixer (check it out on google) it's the most incredible resource that I've heard of. Check out all the super information .

Cool video man. I just went to a casino poker room for the first time last night and was definitely a little nervous and intimidated. I've played online poker before and poker in person with family and friends but I did make a few novice mistakes at first. I didn't know what the small blind/ big blind was when it was my turn and it was really embarrassing to ask. I also got yelled at by the dealer for "splashing the pot" when I threw my chips into the pile in the middle. Other than that I had a great time and won $69.

Great to hear you had the confidence to go into a real table not even knowing that much about poker. Makes me feel more confident about going to one as an online player because I would never step foot onto a real table without knowing what the big blind / small blind was among-st other things. I mean, if you didn't know what the big blind and small blind was, I'm sure you were at the time not familiar either about how to play differently according to your position on the table.

I’m 23 and have played in two tournaments and one cash game and I still get nervous. Cash games are easy cause but in a tournament setting where the blinds are increasing and ante. But at the end of the day everyone makes mistakes at the poker table, even the experts. If some old man has a bitch or gripe about you being a novice tell him to fuck himself that’s how I look at it... kick me out bitch

One thing I would note is to NOT have your larger denominated chips on the bottom of your stack, when looking at when you stacked your T1k & T5k chips underneath the T500 chips. You generally want to keep your stray higher denominated chips on top of the smaller stacked denominations so they are much easier to see and take note of than if they are at the bottom of those T500's,. Also it helps to know yourself how much you have in your stack, where maybe after some time you may lose track and forget about the larger denominations on the bottom since you usually do not see the bottom of your stacks yourself at your angle.

I went to Atlantic City once and played in a cash game, they thought I was just another fish, but I played well and walked out with a profit but I was definitely nervous. Stacking my chips TOOK FOREVER because my adrenalin was pumping so much...lol. Great video for newer players, keep it up!

could you do a video on proper ways to handle your chips when you bet, call or raise. for example, when you bet and someone re raises you, is it best to pull back the chips you've already bet and put in the total amount of the re raise or do you just add the difference from the re raise? or maybe it doesn't matter?

Davy Cornell LoL I know exactly how you feel. I didn’t get the courage to play live until I was 23. I’m 26 now. Honestly, as long as you just pay attention, it’s easy to pick up etiquette. A lot of it is common sense, and people will whine regardless of you making a mistake or not. Just be respectful and you’ll be respected with them check raises haha but in the beginning, don’t expect massive wins, just go for the experience without any expectations with an open perspective to learn as much as possible. Also, find the friendly recreational players. I play at Winstar (or use to before the Covid) and people were super cool with pointing out things I was doing wrong or little tips and tricks here and there.

Ok but what if you are in a live game and your cards at the start and you get up to go toilet and whilst you in there the hand you folded on has finished but you haven't come back from the toilet yet what happens to your go, Do you just miss that hand or does the dealer puts in the blinds or something while you are gone? I Hope that makes sense.

The "one chip" rule doesn't actually exist, it's merely a distillation of the bet comparison procedure dealers are (supposed to be) trained to use. The procedure goes like this: you remove the lowest-denomination chip from the bet in question. If the remaining chips are greater than or equal to the original bet being responded to, then it's a raise. When only one chip is tossed in, this procedure becomes quite easy: the only chip being tossed gets removed, and the remaining chips (none) are not greater than or equal to the original bet, so it's a call. This procedure applies to every bet. If player A bets 1k with a 1k chip, and player B tosses in two 1k chips, that's inherently a raise, because when you remove the lowest denomination chip (one of the 1ks), the 1k that remains is equal to the original bet. If player B tosses in a 1k chip and a 500 chip, that is also inherently a raise, because when you remove the 500, the 1k is equal to the original bet. In this case, the raiser is obliged to complete the raise to 2k. It's all one procedure that gets used in bet evaluation, and it's really not about "one chip".

Well, Ashfaq Sheikh, it depends on the rules of said poker game. Normally, if you have a sanctioned poker tournament, or even a charity poker tournament, the people that hold the tournament either discourage, or outright ban, a person from leaving the tournament until they have busted. With live/televised events like Aussie Millions/Crown Australian Poker Championship, Epic Poker League, Poker Stars, High Stakes Poker, World Series of Poker/Europe/Asia, World Poker Tour, and other televised, and/or live online poker video feed tournaments, like, say, something like Live at the Bike, this tends to be the case, with possible exceptions like obvious cheating, in which case an entire tournament can be cancelled, and, in rare cases, a poker organization, and/or even casinos, can be forced to close, or more logical things like illness of a poker player, illness of a family member of a poker player, death of a poker player, or a death in the family of a poker player. However, by the rule of thumb, it is generally considered as rude, unless you are playing an online non-cash poker game, or a video game version of poker, to just up and leave a poker game before there is a winner of a tournament.

A good dealer would count the chips to check correct because most places rule that what you say is the bet. So if I say 500 but I place 400 in chips then I have to pay up 500 in chips because that is what I said. Not just what I put out there

You're not allowed to throw the chips that you're betting/calling/raising with into the pot directly. That's called splashing the pot. You put them in front of you, separate from any other chips. The dealer will then put them into the pot once everyone has called or folded.

If you play a live cash game you can sit down and walk away whenever. It’s only considered rude to leave the table after you won a big hand.

Personally, I would prefer that players tend to have these new devices that dispense poker chips like those old coin stack dispensers tend to dispense a coin at a time, but, unlike said coin dispensers, the poker chip dispensers can also be adjusted manually to dispense of multiple chips in each individual stack as well, Jose Luis. I would find such a device MUCH better than poker players clacking chips endlessly, plus it also makes poker stacks look a lot nicer as well.

If I call a river bet, and the opponent throws away their hand quickly (like the 7 2 you show), do I have to show my hand before I win the pot? I've heard conflicting opinions on that.

you still have to because in case if you're really in lower hand then even if your opponent threw the cards away he still can win the pot

He answered this in the video. It depends on the casino and also if it's a cash game or tournament. Typically in a cash game, you do not need to show since your opponent mucked his hand. In a tournament, most casinos have a rule where the winning hand must be shown to avoid collusion.

  • @piotrgebocki6444

yea, but you always have to show your hand, even if oponent you called mocked his hand, because it doesn't say that actually he lost the hand, if you will show him worse hand, he can still claim that he had better hand and then dealer still shows his hand and compare them

Never show a bluff. Usually I always muck even if I have the nuts. It's not bad manners is just poker. I may show my cards early on in tourney play when I have the nuts to show that I wasn't bluffing to nit get called when I do.

You can call 1500 with a 5000 chip just like you can buy a 2$ hot dog with a 100$ bill. You would just get change back for your big chip. But the casino doesn't want to force you to raise if you put in a huge chip. It's generally less costly to call on accident than to raise on accident. It would be like you buying a 2$ hot dog and giving a 100$ bill and the hot dog stand guy going "oh you wanted 49 more hotdogs? Cool."

I never actually met anybody who said they are new at poker and they were new at poker . my advice for a real new player .. dont listen to players advice at the table they are not there to help you . hit and run often at first . your skill level will not be high enough to hold onto wins . learn my best habit I have on poker the one that makes the most money is to walk to the cage and cash out chips quit go home .
