@@wiseomg Lol. You definitely weren’t a better student than me. I was a straight A student in honors classes. Iron Maiden didn’t teach me anything. But I will say this. Bruce Dickerson is one smart MF’er. I saw him on Celebrity Jeopardy twice, and he wiped the floor with the other two contestants, twice. And this was before they started really dumbing it down because they realized they were embarrassing the celebrities.

In high school for the world history finals, the last part was to write an essay on any historical figure. It was 20% of your grade, you could get a total of 5 points for the essay. I memorized Alexander the Great and did the essay. The teacher was so impressed and gave me 10 points for the essay. Aced the test with 100.

According to Iron Maiden, the movie footage was from a Buster Keaton comedy movie from the silent movie era of the 1920's... the "pale-faces v. the Indians" battle was exaggerated for comic effect... it seemed to go well w/ the theme of 'Run to the Hills', which is about cowboys fighting the native American 'Indians'... Buster Keaton was huge star and movie maker back in the early 20th century. His comedies were hugely popular w/ the likes of stars of the day like Charlie Chaplin... Laurel & Hardy... and others from the 'silent movie' era where action sequences were essential without dialogue (cos sound was not available yet in movie theaters; musicians were hired to give movies a soundtrack w/ sheet music). Those movies are hilarious - Charlie Chaplin was one of my faves... he played the character of 'the Tramp' who walked in baggy pants, oversized shoes, a cane and a bowler hat, who would always make trouble. When movies came w/ sound in the 1930's, a lot of stars went out, because they didn't sound like their on-screen characters... Laurel & Hardy made the transition cos they sounded like they looked... but Buster Keaton did not. Charlie Chaplin's first movie w/ sound ('Modern times') was mostly silent, but had him sing a song in total gibberish 😂 He lampooned Adolf Hitler during World War II in the movie 'The great dictator' (w/ sound) portraying both a Jewish barber and a maniac dictator 'Adenoid Heinkel' (he resembled Adolf Hitler somewhat w/ his mustache).

As far as what song you recommend us to ask you to dig into it really depends on if you want to go back to there earlier songs like Running Free with their original singer Paul or one after that album like Aces high. Iron Maiden has been my favorite band since the mid 80. It's an interesting rabbit hole to go down because they're still making new music today and some of it's pretty damn good but very different from their earlier stuff. And since you're an Eminem fan, hopefully you checked out his Rock and roll Hall of Fame induction and speech. And speaking of that induction, there may be a Judas Priest song or two you may want to discover after going down the Metallica Megadeth and Iron Maiden rabbit holes.

Read the song list off of their album "Live After Death." It's from early in their careers. All of their songs on it tell stories that have informational messages yet are less complicated than stuff from their later career. If you really want to learn something, do a live version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner. It is a 13 minute song that tells the story of Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem. The poem is covered in High School curriculum. (At least it used to be.) Read the lyrics beforehand, because they are hard to follow on a first listen. Up the Irons!

Yes! You get it, too many people dont seem to understand the concept of emotion in music, these days the majority of people seem to want background noise. There are actually plenty of songs out there that make the point. Lady gaga, just dance, the level of emotion in that song perfectly reflects the title no point feeling anything, just dance like a robot! I haven't seen can I play with madness reviewed yet, other good and popular songs they did include wasted years, number of the beast, phantom of the opera, bring your daughter to the slaughter, seventh son of a seventh son, powerslave, 2 minites to midnight, and aces high, if I don't stop now I never will! I'm trying to think of the songs that haven't been done as much, thank you for not following the trends! You're the first person I've seen do run to the hills, anx hopefully you've got a few more surprises in store!

Fun fact about Iron Maiden: they lease their own Boeing 747 named Ed Force One, The plane can carry the band, crew and the 22,000 pounds of equipotent for each show. The pilot of the plane is their lead singer Bruce Dickinson. I think you should check out a live version of Fear of the Dark so you can see the crowd participation. The song was written by the bassist Steve Harris because he actually has a fear of the dark. Up the Irons!

Note in the song he refers to the Cree. They were a tribe in what is now Canada. They were woodlands Indians not plains Indians. They were also allies of and had friendly relations with French settlers. When the French lost their war with England Canada became part of England. Much of the wars against the Indians had no actual good guy bad guy sides. Just people with different interests. Plains Indians were nomadic and didn't own land but traveled follow the bison heard. The Dutch had a rule that any land purchased had to have records. The Brits pretty much took what they wanted.

The song documents the colonization of the Americas, first by Europeans and then by Americans, from the perspective of a Cree Indian and American cavalryman. The opening verse is from the perspective of the Cree, describing his troubles as the European Americans "came across the sea", bringing the Cree "pain and misery".[6][7] The song is written from both perspectives,[8] The second verse is from the perspective of a U.S. cavalry soldier, describing his involvement in the American Indian Wars, "chasing the redskins back to their holes". The third verse is not from the perspective of any single individual, and harshly condemns the effects of American expansionism on Native Americans, resulting in the "[Americans] raping the women and wasting the men", and "enslaving the young and destroying the old"

for other great songs (and history lessons): Aces High, Where Eagles Dare, Alexander the Great. I dont know for sure where that footage is from but my guess would be some silent movie stuff from early 1900s (like 1920) Charlie Chaplin kind of material.

If you need another history lesson, check out "Aces High". It's about Spitfire pilots during the Battle of Britain in WW2. Very cool song.

Another song where the bass and drums sound like galloping horses, like you heard in The Trooper. Powerslave and The Duelist are two more i would suggest Clive Burr the drummer here, on the next album, and since it's been Nicko on drums
