The other characters driving submarines (Snoop Dogg, De La Soul, etc.) were guest musisicians on the album, which is called Plastic Beach. The island that emerges into view at the end is the titular Plastic Beach, a floating island of plastic and other garbage in the middle of the ocean that they will live on for a while until it sinks in a later video (The Lost Chord). The manatee (not elephant!) is referenced in the lyrics, “up on Melancholy Hill, sits the manatee.”
