The biggest tie in for today, is all the cameras watching and going to a screen to be scrutinized. And this came out when this idea wasn't on everyone's mind like now. But even then, Orwell's Big Brother was upon us all. I was in basic training at Ft Leonard Wood, Mo., my locks shorn like the lamb before the slaughter. Oh how farm fresh that stupid believing child who learned to carry a gun. It's been that long and winding road from so many songs and poems that runs from there to here, from then till now. A hopeful poet died in that rainy jungle winter, and with the spring a cynic, gone old between the the ticking of a second hand, emerged to greet the despair of all the coming waves. Time heals all wounds, time also wounds all heels.

We have more guns than hand's to shoot and most of us won't make it. "They" have had this planned for a long time. That's why Australia was disarmed, look at what's happening there. U.K. was disarmed, people standing in line for a shot that doesn't work. Germany was disarmed, Hitler took over but he did it with finesse, the masses flocked. War started. If you don't have a firearm by now and your really paying attention, then something is wrong. Yes, this is about not giving away all of your power,no one ever should, because you have no idea who will stand with you when you stand. I'll let my SKS sing it's sweet song.

Ok, so... the song is from 1970... and is one of my favorite songs. The imagery is from (I think) 2012, a German animated short film called 'Motherland' - also a favorite short film of mine. The two have nothing to do with one another, except that they were made into a fan music video. That said, they created a hell of a mashup. I'm glad that you are listening to the song on its own after this, because it stands perfectly fine on its own. I also encourage you to watch the short film that the imagery is obtained from. Hopefully doing both will give you more insight into each ;)

I found you through my favorite artist Coheed and Cambria, and you got dragged into metal through it's godfather. That really feels poetic to me. Especially this song. It's so definitive of what the root of metal is. Literally, it's so simplistic and bare, that if you really take anything else away, it's not metal. It's a bare bones track, and I love it.

I recommend that you listen to these songs without analysis and just feel how it moves you. That is, after you've done your analysis version. Rock, metal, heavy metal gets a bad rap. It's funny, when you listen to the song without the video, and close your eyes, the intro doesn't seem that long; you are mesmerized with the ominous beat and the wailing air raid siren. Then the vocals jar you from the trance, and the lyrics then transport you to a world of evil, anger and war. The song is about the perpetual war machines and governments who are willing to expend the lives of their populace to expand their power. It's easy to start a fight when you aren't the one who will lose the most or get smacked in the mouth.
