Toby? In 1977 a miniseries named "Roots" was released on television written by Alexander Haley (he also co-wrote Malxolm X's autobiography). Roots dealt w/ slavery of African people and how the were treated in America. One of the slaves was named Kunta Kinte and he was notable for his refusing to be broken by the white slave masters. He wanted to keep his African name of Kunta Kinte and the slave master wanted him to acknowledge his slave name of Toby. It was only after severe punishment that Kunta Kinte relented and called himself Toby. So when Ice Cube says that MC Ren is going out like "Kunta Kinte" and then calls him "Toby", Ice Cube is saying that MC Ren was not able to maintain a position of strength and gave in to being weak by letting Eazy-E take the money that he (Ren) generated with his rapping and music sales.

Death certificate was ice cube’s best album, hands down

N.W.A members dressed in suits for Michele's video (something in my heart) which is what he's talking about. The song is fire though you should listen to it.

When Ice Cube says "I'll never have dinner with the President ... and when I see your azz again, I'll be hesitant. Now I think you a snitch ..." This is a reference to when Eazy-E paid $2,500 to have dinner with President George H.W. Bush (the 1st Bush, not George W. Bush the son). When Eazy went and had dinner with Bush, this did not go over well with the brothas and sistas, we all looked at him like he was a sellout.

Yeah he is talking about his old group NWA cause they did him dirty and he never really got paid for the first nwa record or concerts tried to force him into signing a bad deal without his lawyers looking at the contract and than they dissed him on 100 miles and running and he didn't really say anything about them on America's most wanted his first solo album but they messed up cause he was the top writer for nwa and on Ruthless Records

So basically cube left the group because of manager issue and everybody else sign and stayed but they felt like ice cube was a traitor so they called him “Benedict Arnold”

For a lot of the things he said, a lot of the points he referenced, you kind of got to know the NWA history to fully get the diss. Great video, love the reaction. Sub'd.

NWA is a group ice cube was apart of but they manager “ Jerry heller ” didn't give him the money he was supposed to have so Cube felt like he didn't deserve to stay in the group no more. So he started a new crew LENCH MOB, but nwa started sneak dissing Ice cube in one of there songs “ 100 miles and runnin ” then after that Cube clapped back with no Vaseline 😂

Ice Cube was in NWA, but they were being taken advantage of by their manager. Ice Cube saw the game and left to go solo. The company was making millions and they were offered only 75K per year. Ice cube never was going to diss NWA but they diss Ice Cube first on the song Real Ninjas Then on the Ninja 4 life albums they send a Message to BA which he used in his intro. This was the thing that got Ice Cube to drop the track. He left the group because the money was funny. He knew he was being screwed by Jerry and Easy. Easy was his homie but was trying to take all the money without bring his homies off. Ice Cube knew his value , this why he said trying to screw me but I rather screw you because without there is no gangster rap nor NWA. Ice Cube wrote most of the lyrics for NWA and Easy E. Back in the day Easy was the man. He was bigger than Dr. Dre. Dre was the producer. This why Ice Cube told him to stick to producing because Ice was better him as a rapper. This why he said Dre could rap all day and it is even close.

This was the best diss track ever, followed closely by " Hete'm Up".

NWA was the original gangsta rap group from Compton, CA - Ice Cube, Eazy E, MC Ren and Dre producing. Things went south for a few reasons, mostly money, and Cube went solo. Then the feud started.

He says what NWA stand for in the song! This was in retaliation for them dissin’ Ice Cube in several songs on NWA’s album. You should watch “Straight Outta Compton” for the story! It’s a great movie!
