To me, it seems like Ren does the music he feels inside of him regardless of what fans ‘want’ due to the line in Hi Ren about how he isn’t commercial but those who find his music often respect it, I don’t feel like you would look for respect if you were tailoring your music to a certain group of people, then he’d just be looking for people who ‘like’ the music versus both like and dislike but still respect for the quality of talent he is

You are one of the few who got it. Ren did more than a battle rap. He pointed out, elegantly, that Hip Hop was a counter culture first. Now that the culture is division, Hip Hop needs to be the counter culture again.....kindness. Kindness is the counter culture. He was talking big truths about the media taking their cash off the fighting...and the media ain't alone in this country...lots of folks lining their pockets over how much we bicker. That was all fact. Then killed Dotta with kindness. Like you said, when does THAT happen? Not often. Excellent form, Ren! Well done!

You missed that the thing ended with Amazing Grace. I think that that is a great double: first it is because it is often played at funerals and second because in the end Ren finished with amazing grace. Which is kinda the ultimate power move.

So much respect for Ren. He honored the battle rap culture with style, but then flipped the script and made it his own. He sharpened his pen and wasn’t afraid to step into the ring 💥 🥊 Ren is changing the game for the better. He’s paving a new path and casting a new vision for us to embrace. I was happy to see Dotta give Ren props and respect. That earned my subscription. As Ren likes to say, a rising tide lifts all ships. The #RENeffect is real ❤

Yeah, probably one of the best things I’ve heard. Showcasing his own talent and ability, acknowledging Dotta’s craft and attempt to test himself and gain recognition and then giving him the respect and opportunity to grind to a new audience and a new set of ears. As a side note, the way Dotta has responded to this with his own showing of class and dignity is great to see.

Knew you would love it! Absolutely blew my mind at his approach. Dudes 100%humble, much respect. Dotta got 950+ subs just since this dropped. 🤝

This is the best reaction to this video that I've seen so far. I love that you took 40 minutes to give us a primer on the etiquette of rap battling. I think we as fans have a tendency to take it too seriously, and this was an important addition to the narrative. I haven't gone through too much of Dotta's music yet, but I'm working on it. Least I can do for the guy who started the most entertaining musical interaction I've ever seen on KZread. Great job, man, keep up the good work, and thank you.

Registered Nurse here. Ren didn't have an addiction! He had Lyme Disease! Which makes your body attack itself. It gives you pain beyond anything you can imagine. He was misdiagnosed for 10+ years amd he had to go to Canada to get Stem Cell transplants. He's been in Calgary getting treatment. And he still has excruciating pain. (I can say this because I am dying, literally, I have a rare disease that destroys my spinal cord (not the bones) the actual spinal cord with nerves that come out of your cord, goes through your column and mine are being squished and destroyed. Because my spinal column (the bones, not the cord) never fused in utero. So my tailbones (coccyx-5 bones) never fused to my (Lumbar spine-5 bones) So there is a gigantic hole in between! It's killing me slowly. I have pain beyond control.

i appreciate the smart wordplay, no matter how vicious it gets... but i appreciate Ren's good humor while he's at it 😆
