Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, Japan Vlog
✨ March 13 - 22, 2024: We spent 8 days in Japan, visiting must-see Tokyo spots like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa, Ueno, Akihabara, Ginza, and Central Tokyo. Following that was 3 days in Kyoto, and one last day in Osaka.
Day 1: Shinjuku
Our first day was dedicated to the Shinjuku area. We started at the 360-degree observatory in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, followed by a visit to Hanazono Shrine. We explored local grocery stores, malls, and enjoyed collecting gachapons.
Day 2: Shibuya and Meiji Shrine
Day 2 was all about Shibuya and the Meiji Shrine, Tokyo's largest shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji. We loved shopping in Harajuku and trying delicious bento box meals. Don Quixote was a shopping highlight, and we were fascinated by the bustling Shibuya Scramble crossing. A fantastic omakase sushi meal topped off our day.
Day 3: Asakusa, Ueno, and Akihabara
On Day 3, we rented kimonos and took beautiful photos around Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. We then visited Ueno Park and explored the anime and electronics hub of Akihabara.
Day 4: Tsukiji Fish Market and Ginza
Our final day in Tokyo started with the Tsukiji Fish Market and shopping in the Ginza area We also enjoyed contemporary art at the Mori Museum.
Day 5: Historic Kyoto
After Tokyo, we took the bullet train (Shinkansen) to Kyoto. Our packed first day in Kyoto included visits to Nijo Castle, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and Fushimi Inari Shrine. We explored the Ninomaru Palace, famous for its “nightingale floors” that chirp when walked upon. Known for its thousands of red torii gates, Fushimi Inari Shrine is a must-visit. We hiked through the scenic pathways, enjoying the serene atmosphere and taking lots of photos.
Day 6: Cultural Kyoto
The second day in Kyoto was more relaxed. We explored Kinkaku-ji Shrine, a stunning Zen Buddhist temple covered in gold leaf, and enjoyed an all-you-can-eat wagyu beef buffet.
Day 7: Scenic Kyoto
On our final day in Kyoto, we visited the beautiful Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. We hiked up to the Monkey Park, where we got to see wild monkeys up close. The park also offers a fantastic view of Kyoto from the top.
Day 8: Osaka
On our last day in Japan, we traveled to Osaka to experience the nightlife and explore Dotonbori, Osaka's famous entertainment district, known for its bright neon lights, colorful signboards, and bustling streets.
