I am from around there living in the California Desert for the last 38 years the climate is awful here, luckily I will go back next year after retirement for good, thank goodness I go back four or five times a year and I can not get enough. Speaking of Spas, in San Juan Cosala, up the mountain there are two dilighful spa-restaurant-hotels with amazing views of the lake, La Vita Bella and Monte Coxala, they are so beautiful, if you do not know them I highly recomend you to go, you have a 180 degree view of the lake, at night when there is full moon, the lake and the moon look amazing, during the rainy season you get see the storms settling all over the lake while you enjoy your meal. Thank you for sharing, I really enjoy your videos.

Another valuable video, Craig! You hit all of the high points. The only thing I would add is that Ajijic is a very dog-friendly town. Well-behaived dogs are welcomed in most shops and restaurants. Love for dogs is just part of the culture. We moved here last June and absolutely love it. We also continue to watch and appreciate your informative videos. Please keep doing what you do! 💘

¡Hola! I moved here to Mexico in Mid May 2023. Hubs and I lived in La Paz for 5 months, took the ferry to Mazatlán where we are now living in Centro. We're headed to PV for a week or maybe 3 (depending on this rental I'm in)and then up to Aijijic on June 8th. I'm a bit worried about the temps as my Airbnb doesn't have AC. I've gotten used to warmer temps in this last year (I am from the PNW US) but still.... Thanks for this vid, you both are doing great work. We have watched a lot of videos on Mexico, hours and hours since 2022. You're our new favorite!!

You are heading to Ajijic during the hottest time of the year, so you may want to stay in a place with AC, a good thing is that once the rainny seasons sets in, around the end of June-July everything cools off and the scenery gets beautifully green.

Your videos are both exciting and inspiring. My hubby's uncle moved to Ajijic over 10 years a go and often called it Heaven on earth. I am retiring next year and we are researching places in Mexico but the whole Lake Chapala area is making me fall in love. The thing is my hubby works long distance and hopes his employer sees little difference between Ken being the North Carolina or being in Mexico. The thing is he will absolutely need high speed internet. Are there towns or neighborhoods which have this or that you can recommend? Really looking forward to being a part of the lake Chapala Society. And the community theater.

@@kimberlytitlebaum2523 That's great. Thanks. Yes.... there is High Speed internet. The company we use is TotalPlay ... so he can check it out online. Generally, all the areas between Jocotepec and Chapala are great with internet. Some people have said they get two accounts... one with Total Play and one with another Carrier (Maybe Telcel) to make SURE they are covered. However, we have only had one outage and it was for less than 1 hour. Cell phone coverage is a different story because it can be weak when you are in a heavy concrete house [all here are thick walls). So WiFi series as a back up.

You nailed it! I'm just back from a week in Ajijic and it's everything protrayed in this video. I missed the Wednesday market and didn't do the thermal spa, but otherwise hit all the other elements. The malecon is nice and relaxed during the week, and it picks up energy, vendors and locals from Guadalaja on the weekend. All the food was wonderful. Exploring the neighborhoods catching photos of the art was safe and always something new. And the Lake Chapala Society had a number of events that happened to coincide with my visit that were a lot of fun. And be sure to check out Lucky Bar. The monthly trivia is a hoot with everyone being very friendly and open.

I'll add, the 20 mile carretera highway has a nice bike path next to it with rentals available in Ajijic and likely elsewhere. And if you're a hiker, pack your hiking boots and poles as the hikes behind town are really nice moderate to difficult trails that reward with great views of the lake and town. We'll do more of both on a return visit.

17:11 Hey Craig. Really enjoying your channel. This video was very helpful. I’m scoping out places to retire in MX. As a single traveler who would not rent a car is there enough to stay engaged in Ajijic for 5 to 6 days? Would it be easy to meet other folks who have emigrated there?

  • @TrulyRemarkableLife

Oh my gosh YES.... there is SO much to do. All you have to do is stop by Lucky Bar around Happy Hour and introduce yourself as new and youll have plenty of champions to give suggestion. Also check out groups on Facebook (Gringos Ajijic, Friendly Gringos, Gay Alliance, etc.) And just start interacting. Sometimes just meandering and taking in any festivals, art shows or events can take up your time. Even if you don't move here, you'll have a great time.

The problem in this small beach towns is foreigners want to stay and live here and don't speak the language or don't want to learn the language. They expect locals to understand English and its a shame . I notice only the Germans people that take pleasure in mixing with the locals and with their Spanish I been told they learn it in their country, specifically the youth ones almost immediately mix in .Also I don't see Germans putting up schools or churches in their german language or libraries.
