Truth, big time.
YES is the greatest progressive rock group of all time and my favorite band. They have a lot of long songs and it takes a true music lover to "get it". Not everyone does. Their music is complex with many changes and in a lot of their songs the words don't have meaning but they sound good and it's up to the listener to put their own meaning into it like a Picasso painting. You could start with some of their shorter songs until you get used to them but the classics are the longer ones such as "Close to the Edge", "The Gates of Delirium", "Awaken", "Turn of the Century". Shorter ones include "I've Seen All Good People", "Owner of a Lonely Heart", "Yours is No Disgrace", "The Rhythm of Love" and many more. I subscribe to anyone who reacts to them and so will hundreds of others so keep those YES songs coming.
I got this album when it first came out in 1971. I've never grown tired of it. Watching you enjoy it brings it all back to me. Thank you!

Happy to hear that Michael 😊
I saw YES in Chicago at the House of Blues in 2011 and was standing at the edge of the stage in front of Steve Howe. When they played this song it sounded almost exactly the same, but with the power of live music. Howe had one guitar on a stand with a separate mic in front of him as he wore a second guitar. They truly could bring the house down, and Chris Squire on bass was terrific. Memorable

One of the most beautiful songs I have Ever Heard by YES, "Turn Of The Century" even without the lyrics, the music would brings tears to your eyes, with the lyrics it's almost certain, if You're a romantic then absolutely. Yes is a One of a Kind Group of Musicians, in Their Own Category altogether. 50+ Years of Masterpieces.

Jon and Chris never harmonized better than the Turn of The Century.
One of the most funkiest baselines ever..Sincerely..Poppie *......
I just entered h.s. when this came out. Every member of the band were masters of their instrument but all these years later that bass riff/sound still blows me away. And, how can you not start bobbing your head during the keyboard solo!

Mrs.penpal,..so glad young lady, that you gave this a listen,..yess, a lot of changes a lot like jazz,..very much elements of jazz in this,..a lot of groups, rock groups delve in to that,..the progressions, changes, same thing happens in jazz,..lot of these guys grew up listening to artists like Dave Brubeck, and big bands of the 1940's, this band Yes, formed in late 1960's,..by that time they were young men,..had all these influences,..jazz was like king, rock was still young,...I love that they had those influences, look how brilliant they sound, the variations, timing changes,..and look the acoustic classical Spanish guitar,..so intricate, intimate, then they burst out with this mad baseline, and beat, and keyboard,..love it,..do keep going,..I've Seen All Good People,..they are an innovative band, the very definition of the 70's, innovation,...enjoy, Godspeed, Peace ✌

Beautiful reaction, Blessing. Nice to find you. Regarding the singers, the lead vocalist is Jon Anderson, the primary backups you hear are by Chris Squire, the bass player, and the third voice coming in sometimes is guitar player Steve Howe.

Great to see you getting lost in the music Blessing. I saw several diff YES tours in the '70s, and they performed their complex oeuvre as well live as on their lps... Only Emerson, Lake, & Palmer (ELP) and Jethro Tull were similarly impressive IMO. An early YES hit I love is I've Seen All Good People. Check it out!
I was a 20 year old in 1971,driving to work when this song came on the radio. I had to pull over. It was the short version, but my mind was blown and I was a little late for work. 😎 Yes set the bar HIGH!!! ☮️❤️

Always love seeing younger minds finding old school. Keep exploring MrsPenPal
In the late 60's and 1970' Progressive Rock was mostly an acquired taste (usually fans of jazz and fusion) sitting well outside the popular music tastes of the day and virtually ignored by both the radio and record buying public. That was until 1971 with the release of Roundabout, garnering huge amounts of new fans. (I was one) These new listeners appreciated the complexity of the music (without being overwhelmed by it) the brilliant musicianship as well as the songs creative melodies, Yes in general and Roundabout in particular brought "Prog Rock' to the masses. Music was never the same and for the good. Terrific reaction (as usual) MrsPP🙂 Rick
Ah Blessing you had me dancing along with you, you see I started dancing to Roundabout 52 yrs ago. You can't help but get down. A song called Siberian Khatru has a real funk feel Yes style should be a next choice or Yours Is No Disgrace. Enjoy your Yes journey. 🙏🍁

In the introductory verses Jon Anderson double layered his voice. Listen to “Heart of the Sunrise.” It will blow you away.
There was no "digitized" sound. Digital didn't exist, yet. That was the wizardry of Rick Wakeman on keyboard.

Followed this band forever it seems like. Just saw them for the 7th time a year ago !
"Roundabout" is a masterpiece. It's been one of my favorite songs ever since I first heard it as a kid back in the seventies. That bass line. Those drums. The organ runs. The change ups and the turnarounds. The guitar flourishes. And the harmonized tip of the hat to "Carry On" by Crosby, Stills and Nash at the end before the final classical guitar lick. WOW! A roundabout, in case you're wondering, is a type of circular intersection or junction in which road traffic is permitted to flow in one direction around a central island aka roundabout. It works great for intersections in the country side. "Call it morning driving through the sound and In and out the valley..." The song itself functions like a roundabout when you think about how it circles around its various changes. When you're ready for more from Yes, check out "I've Seen All Good People", "Yours Is No Disgrace", "Starship Trooper", and "Long Distance Runaround/The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)" along with many others.
Hi my friend great reaction to a great band a young gentleman taking KZread by storm is ren -hi ren this video has had 3 million views in 2 weeks and it is pure genius worth a look and at the end has a great message many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍.
Close To The Edge is their masterpiece.
I love how your eyes open when the bass kicks in.
Love seeing you smile to this Progrock masterpiece!!!
My favorite band!!!
Back in this day every sound you heard had to actually be played. There were no shortcuts back in the dark ages... And no one before or after really sounded like them or had the inspiration to create all these great songs...
So now I’m all caught up on your Yes journey. Long may it continue ❤🎉
yes is intergalactic acrooss the board...out of this world ...if u like singing and harmonies yes "leave it" might b for you.."yours is no disgrace " is MY favorite
Prog rock at it's finest!!
Oh, and check out Lady Fantasy by Camel, also a great prog classic (and many changes in one song)... 🐫
Love this song and so happy you enjoyed this song so much!
You definitely picked up on some things; good ears, there. Yes has existed for 50 years in one form or another, but now, the lead singer, Jon Anderson, is performing on his own, and writing jaw-droppingly gorgeous music, releasing it regularly. You would love his recent album, "One Thousand Hands". That voice can't be imitated....as for Yes, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.
Great Reaction Mrs P. :) I saw YES perform this song in West London in 1975:)
You should pull up a video of a live performance of yes….. or at the very least check out their live album, “Yessongs”. I envy you getting to discover Yes!

Cool, One of my favorite songs is Love will find a way by Yes, can't wait for your reaction, blessing
Off the same album who will definitely need to react to South Side of the Sky and Heart of the Sunrise.
Welcome to Yes. I would suggest you don't make the same mistake a lot of reactors do and try Close to the Edge too soon. Get at least 4 or 5 numbers under your belt first. Also, Long Distance Runaround is meant to be played together with The Fish

Great comment
The different sections are why it's called "progressive" rock. I've been a prog rock drummer for over 50 years and nothing challenges you like prog rock. It takes a lot of rehearsal time to get a song to the point where it becomes second nature.
