I've listened to this track for over 40 years. I still get a tingle down the spine when hearing those soaring riffs and Anderson's angelic voice. It's very spiritual in mood. I want this track and my headphones when I'm on my deathbed.

Now that you've started down the rabbit hole, you should go for the most epic 18-minute masterpiece. Strap in my friend. This is Close To The Edge. It's considered to be they're greatest track they've recorded. When you're done, compare this song with another masterpiece, Awaken. Love your reactions. Enjoy the journey.

I consider the title track on this album, Close to the Edge, as THE song that changed my musical life. For the last 50 years it has set the bar for musical genius and intrigue, and no song in those last 50 years has cleared that bar. I'm still waiting at the age of 69 and I have zero expectations that bar will be met. Thanks a million for reacting to YES !!

Thanks for the awesome reaction! Jon would often joke about playing this song for so many years and "this time we're gonna get it right". Never heard a bad version, but the pinnacle was at Madison Square Garden on their 35th anniversary tour, where they got a 10 minute standing ovation from the packed house after the last solo section. Not a dry eye in the house!

I was also there @ MSG for “that” And You And I. An unforgettable experience. Hate to rain on the parade, but it was about a 2 and 1/2 minute standing ‘o’. However, the song had yet to conclude! What I recall from that night is that the crowd was largely inattentive and rather inebriated most of the night. But, And You And I grabbed everyone present by the short curlies and said pay attention! You are in the presence of Masters. The song went straight up to the domed ceiling of The Garden, right out of the roof, up into the sky, and, presumably right to the Heavens. And as great as this song was on this night, I have seen them surpass it. A spiritual experience from the greatest live band I, personally have ever witnessed.

@@belalugrisi1614 Time dilation! Love it. Well, everyone at the time said it was 10 minutes. But, do you remember the band running around the stage like young men, again, as the crowd roared?! And they were milking it, too, and deservedly so! Jon would approach the microphone to try and finish off that lovely, sweet little totally essential coda, and the crowd just roared that much louder. This happened at least four times, so your time dilation is forgiven. Seeing the band getting love like that in Manhattan of the 21st Century filled my, and our, all our eyes with sweet tears of joy and love. You just usually don’t get these things out of your every day garden variety concert. Usually not! Kind regards, Bela. And may the Holidays be blessed for you and yours.
