Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been requested since the very early days of the channel, I finally react to it. People say this game should've won the best music award the year it was released, will it live up to the hype?
This is merely for review, analysis, breakdown and constructive criticism purpose, I do not claim the audiovisual product I reacted to as my own.

I definitely think you should listen to the full compositions of Moebius battle theme and You Will Know Our Names Finale Also a really underrated song if you ask me, is the False Queens (also full song) ALSO the channel you used uses just the game rip of the file with 1 loop. The actual songs have several parts split up based on how far you are into the in game battle (which applies to all the songs I listed above). Monolith actually released the full soundtrack a couple months ago with the full compositions of music that include the climax and conclusion parts of the pieces into the track. You can find the official soundtrack releases on youtube with the thumbnails that say Xenoblade 3 Original Soundtrack with the white backgrounds.

As a classical musician, part of the problem with rating the sound track in just 3 songs is it uses motifs like no other game ive ever seen. Id recommend Moebius (track name) + Moebius Battle, A life Sent on, You will Know our Names (Finale), Battle!!!! - Torna (different game in the series but still amazing), Words that Never Reached you, (edit, mixed up songs) Noah and N + Moebius + Ouroborous awakening, and Chain attack. I could really say listen to the 10+ hour soundtrack for just the base game of xenoblade 3. The OST has an amazing identity but it establishes it over the 10+ hours of soundtrack.

This game definitely deserved ost of the year. Saying otherwise just makes you dead wrong. The competition was not even close, and I will die on that hill. Also you only listened to 3 songs, 1 battle theme 1 cutscene song, and 1 cutscene song from another game that was remixed into a battle theme. Not a lot of variety that you listened to even guess a decision like that.

Yeah all 3 xenoblade games have crazy good music. They've got this unique style were you can be listening to slow sad music, then an electric guitar can randomly kick in with choral vocals and back to sadness again at the drop of a hat, they shouldnt mix but somehow it works so well. That first theme you listened to was actually played at the game awards and you can look up an infamous clip of the flute guy going full out playing it, he knew it should have won =P The second theme is interesting cus its actually a song from the previous game. Originally it was a really sad song with vocals called drifting souls, they brought it back and somehow remixed it into a really hype battle theme, was pure fan service. Its definitely worth checking out drifting souls from xenoblade 2, to see how its transformed If you're looking for other great xenoblade songs, lets see theres: Title theme - XB1 (definitive edition for all the XB1 tracks btw) Gaur plains - XB1 Engage the enemy - XB1 You will know our names - XB1 Mechanical rhythm - XB1 Zanza the divine - XB1 Beyond the sky - XB1 Gormott day - XB2 Mor ardain day - XB2 Drifting souls - XB2 One last you - XB2 Counterattack - XB2 Moebius battle - XB3, seriously this song goes CRAZY, if you do this look for the 8min version, thats all the phases spliced together Cent Omnia region day - XB3 Redeem the future finale/phase 2 - XB3 Future awaits - XB3 Theme X - title theme from xenoblade X Uncontrollable - xenoblade X again

The Xenoblade games have a very varied and talented team of composers working on them. As such the games have a lot of variety in their music, from epic and emotional orchestral pieces, to metal and jazz inspired battle tracks, to serene environmental tracks. As far as other Xenoblade 3 tracks go, Moebius Battle (the 8 min OST version) and A Formidable Enemy (3 min 35 version so there’s no loop) are definitely worth checking out. As they really highlight a lot of the expert musicianship that went into the soundtrack.

1st song was for a cutscene. 2nd song is a battle theme remixed from a pre-existing song in the prequel game (hence the loop). 3rd song is also a battle theme, but actually one of the first you hear, so yeah, certainly missing some true contenders from that list, but still loveable songs all the same. Personal favourites of mine from this game is: "Brilliant Wings" - Similar to Kaleidoscopic Core, this is a battle theme remixed from a previous song in the series, but goes hard on the sax. "Aurora Shelf (Day)" - This one is actually a location theme (so still made to loop of course), but by far my absolute favourite in the entire series. "Moebius Battle" - A boss battle that uses an operatic theme. Definitely one of THE standouts for the entire OST just from how it jumps out at you. "Alpha, The Divine Beginning and End" - A *final* boss battle theme. While not technically a remix, it uses motifs from another theme in the first game (Xenoblade 1). What you listened to was actually the early OST uploads on KZread of the soundtrack. The Official "trinity" soundtrack actually released not too long ago and THOSE were then uploaded to youtube. It's an important distinction because a lot of the tracks in Xenoblade 3 are actually modular (probably the wrong term) but pretty much I mean that the music is actually dynamic and changes based on things like how low the enemy's health is, etc. Tracks that loop will end sooner with a proper finish instead of looping and then fading out. Tracks that are dynamic will go through all of their phases before a proper finish. Perhaps this doesn't matter to you, but I thought it was worth pointing out. The user "factsfromspace" has uploaded a few of these proper versions of the tracks if you're curious.

For more songs, I'd definitely recommend A Life Sent On, You Will Know Our Names ~ Finale, Moebius Battle (both Phase 1 & 2), Where We Belong, and A Step Away. This game's OST is definitely a nice one to listen to. The battle songs are definitely meant to loop like in other games, since battles do take longer than the song duration (as is the usual for games that aren't rhythm games).

_Xenoblade X fanbase cries_ In all seriousness, I've loved the music from all four of those games, though XCX took some warming up to at the age I was when it came out (and my musical exposure back then). The fan reception to the shift in design focus probably meddled with that too given that I was only watching pre-release stuff and hearing music rather than playing the game (certainly not the means to buy the console+game). Then again, it's not uncommon for me to feel pretty neutral on a first listen and then love the same thing on the second listen-happened with XC1's OST, happened with Bravely Default before it became one of my favourites, even happened with some of Minami's songs when a new song from her was one of the most exciting things for me. Not sure how I got from XCX to Minami on a XC3 video but I saw that and realized I should stop ADHDing before this gets dire lmao

I want to give you some context to how the songs work in xenoblade in general. Every single cutscene song is a song that only plays during cutscenes and never loops, sometimes some of them continue during battle, mostly in XC1, every battle song from XC1, XCX and XC2 loops when it ends and plays again, in XC3 there are also these tipes of songs, but the most important ones actually have 3 fases and a finale, that work acconding to the enemies HP, the main melody plays until 50% health, then the climax song plays until the 10% mark I believe, and finally after you beat the enemy the finale plays. The prime example of this is You will know our names - finale. Area themes also loop and do not have an ending, with the sole exception of Mor Ardain: Roaming the Wastes from XC2 which is a banger. Also, to get you in context, Kalaedoscopic core is a remix of a song from XC2 called Drifting soul, and in XC3 is a battle theme, while in XC2 it was a emotional cutscene song that has lyrics and the main melody alures to them, that may be why you had the reaction you had. Also, Carrying the Weight of Life has motifs from 2 of the most impactful songs from XC1 and XC2, those being Engage the Enemy (XC1) and Counterattack (XC2) and it only plays twice during the main game and a shortened version once in the DLC (Future Redeemed)

Little Funfact: The Flute got especially produced in a traditional way for this game. The composer for Xenoblade always go ALL IN - it's amazing. And I mean the full soundtrack for this game is like 8 hours long. And I heard the competition and still think that this is the best soundtrack of the year. :D But hey - opinions anyway. Which I really think to be strange, which might be just a bait from you. But why would you consider Keves Battle as nothing new? :D I never heard a full score with flute and e-guitar in unison together with pianos, violins, bass, and all mixed in together without it sounding "to busy". For me: This is considered to be art and I also got some musical sense and education. A lot of reactions to music show up stuff like a keen sense for timings, chords, harmonys, and stuff. Aaaand you did actually not much of that.

I found that the field themes in 3 were the weakest of the trilogy, mainly because most of them take 1-2 minutes to really get going, but they still have some solid bangers: Alfeto Valley (Night) Eagus Wilderness (Night) Erythia Sea (Day) Aurora Shelf (Day)

I find that with Xenoblade 3, there tend to be many uploads that don't include the full song, and so if you plan to do more reactions (specifically of Xenoblade 3 music), I would recommend using the tracks that are published by the KZread channel "factsfromspace". It's a disservice that so many people who are told to listen to these tracks don't catch the full thing, and I don't want you to fall into that camp. Thank you so much for the video sir!

Sorry, this got out of hand as always. TL;DR: It's more a thought dump than anything, written in a neutral mood with the point being for me (and maybe someone else) to think more on it, not to bash you. I personally relate to your assessment of the villain, but that's only at face value. Looking beyond that, you can find a villain that's actually interwoven with not only every element of the story, but of the real world as well. One little note, I haven't been able to play through Future Redeemed yet, so if the rest of this is plain comedy based on what FR did, I'm glad I could give a laugh at least. ---- There is something to be said for the villain being what they are. The villain itself is quite interesting and relevant, but how the game conveyed the villain means that instead of me getting an emotional connection to the party's relationship to the villain, it's more like the villain is in a different domain and I have to map from one to the other in order for things to become clear. It's unfortunate because the ideal would be the emotional connection in the first domain as is, and then a whole extra layer of meaning by reframing everything in the context of the second. Still, if you look past how the villain is portrayed, everything makes a lot more sense and can be very relatable, especially for people like me who are really struggling with the real-life version of the villain and feel powerless against all the fortifying of defenses and the accumulation of power since long before we were even born. In addition, most of the world is able to simply accept this without really thinking about it, as Keves and Agnus soldiers do. Whether by necessity or enjoyment, those soldiers are the lowest level who actually enable battles to be fought. Collectively, they have the power to stop fighting from happening, but few even have the ability to imagine a better future, or the time and energy to think about it, and someone trying to get that movement started will run into so many reasons for trouble and hostility. If you're reading this far, it's about time I spoil the villain and stop trying to be vague. The game's villain, or at least one interpretation of it, is the status quo. Another interpretation I've seen is that the game is a commentary on the series, but I don't think these are mutually exclusive. There's so much parallel to the real world in what Noah and crew face. Noah is capable of feeling empathy for everyone caught up in this life and can concretely imagine a reality better than the one he's in. Sure, everyone has fantasies, but as a society, there are concrete improvements that we definitely have the means to do. To many people, the fact that there is suffering because we _don't_ do these things means that there is a _duty_ to do them. Being stuck antagonizing over that prospect can very much lead to severe depression, anxiety, and/or panic. Ouroboros and Lucky Seven aren't just a fancy plot sword and MacGuffin. What Noah (and the party, but I'll use him) got was power; influence; status. He has a tangible means of disrupting the status quo, but change and uncertainty are scary, so he's hesitant to use it. In the meantime, the psychopaths who benefit from the status quo start to get desperate and do everything in their power to stop him, quite literally turning the people against him with false information and perception while they also use the people as collateral (real "I'd rather test less so my numbers look better" energy there). Despite Noah's power, it's still a gruelling journey, constantly under target in the hopes of breaking his spirit. And they do break his spirit after relentless, exhausting attack, large and decisive blows that are plain unfair (ch5), and the prospect of having to suffer his ultimate loss in a way that he could feel guilty for. On the plus side, he also learns that he's not fighting alone-there are numerous people on his side even if they keep a low profile and try to chip away at the base of the societal pillar, and even if one of them is a bitchqueen. I'll spare writing an impromptu thesis, but there are some interesting parallels in how control is maintained. There's always a colony ranked lower than you so that you can feel superior and stay divided instead of sticking together and gaining traction toward the potential to change things. You have a common and appealing goal that turns out to be meaningless (gold rank vs. being rich rather than living comfortably), but it's also tied to survival, conflating the two ideas. When one colony (or minority) becomes a possible threat, they get singled out and squashed while everyone else doesn't really think about them and has their own life to focus on until their colony reaches the same point. After all, survival and protecting the people they care about are taking most of their attention. All that said, I've personally found that I have trouble being nearly as invested into a more abstract villain without having a really compelling tangible villain figure to stand in its place. For example, one of the Final Fantasy mainline games does little to hide that its real villain is a force of nature and how power structures arose out of that in the last 1000 years, but also does a really good job of communicating that villain in a way that I had something to be attached to and invested in. XC3's metaphorical villain is something I find pretty interesting and compelling, but its personification never interested me outside of natural curiosities like whether he's got a connection to the other games, whether there's a more meta element involved in the story or in his plan, and of course motivations, goals, etc. Even in the final boss, it feels to me like the party can't make the fight very personal with him, but it's still _very_ personal with what he represents. Him not being interesting as a character to me meant that my first time through didn't have the emotion that might come from a more personal fight, which extends to watching other people's first-time experience. Recontextualizing the game after the first time is really interesting and all, but at least for me, isn't emotionally comparable.
